Abstract
This study intends to enhance the efficiency of the Chinese language education by implementing following measures through examining Web-Based Instruction; to make a sample instruction for Chinese language by applying WBI in the internet homepage. so as for school teachers to utilize the instruction in a classroom setting, or to provide a web-based methodology for Chinese language instruction, so as for an individual learner to be able to work at the time in the place according to his/her choice. In doing so, the study goes through the following courses of progress. Chapter II reviews on the educational concept, background and changes of trend of the web-based instruction that has come into being as a new style of education in the information era, while taking into the consideration of factors and forms of the web based instruction itself. At the same time, based on the theory as such, the chapter does an analysis on each features of the sites for the Chinese language instruction and compares with sites for English and Japanese language instruction in order to find problems of the web based instruction for the Chinese language. Chapter III suggests multimedia tools and environments for the web based Chinese language instruction and offers a design and planning to make up for problems as present in the current web site to be practical and fruitful language instruction for Chinese. Chapter IV, as a chapter that realizes designs for Chinese language instruction on the web site, offers a discussion on computer and internet environment, and design process up to the realization on the site and the educational effects as for each screens realized as such. Chapter V, as a conclusion and suggestion part, summarizes main points that has been discussed in the research process and suggests the direction for the further research. Followings are conclusions that this study come to an end. First, the current web-based Chinese language instructions generally tend to be unidirectional from the instructor s view point by showing and playing educational material yet, without considering the learning effects of the learner. Thus, the author in this thesis, in order to solve problems as such, attempts to realize a method that allows learners to do a correction on the pronunciation by themselves on the voluntary basis through the application of speaking and listening to the web environment in terms of the recording technique of the off-line, so as to enhance the learning efficiency. Second, the thesis, acknowledging the difficulty for an instructor to grasp the learning effects on the part of the learner after the respective learning process, sees the importance of the management of learning progress and the feedback as well, not just that of e-mail or Q & A, for the mutual interaction between instructors and learners that adopts web environment as a medium. In this context, the author in this study, based on the mailing list, sent evaluation materials in the form of web-zine for learners to solve the problems and circulated the responses afterwards to instructors in regard. This was an attempt to increase the interactivity for learners with instructors through advises and feedback of the instructors on the part of learners. Third, most video lectures of the web sites tend to focus on the part of reading comprehension, where the instructor alone gives an explanation. Yet, in this study, the research carried out the reading course where instructors, native speakers and learners join altogether. This kind of measure is expected to arouse the learning motivation when teachers in school setting give a video lecture for students as it offers an opportunity for learners directly to join the learning process.
