중국과 한국의 국제 뉴스보도의 비교연구

Abstract

한국과 중국은 역사적 유대 관계, 문화적 근접성 및 지리적 근접성을 기반으로 양국의 경제적 이익을 실현하면서 2017 년까지 양국 수교 25주년이 되었다. 양국 간 정보 교환의 규모는 양국 간 경제적, 정치적, 외교적 그리고 문화 교류의 빈번 한 교환을 기반으로 커지고 있으며, 양국 사람들이 상대국에 대한 알아보는 요구 가 절박해지고 있다. 언론 매체에 보도된 국제 뉴스는 일반 독자들이 세계의 다른 지역에 노출될 수 있는 유일한 출처가 아니지만 중요한 통로이다. 그러나 양국의 교류가 활발히 이루어지고 있는 것보다는 언어 및 정보 수집 등 다양한 이유로 인해 국제 뉴스 보도에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 한국 신문에 나타난 중국에 관련된 뉴스보도와 중국 신문에 나타난 한국에 관련된 뉴스보도의 기본적인 특성과 구체적인 특성을 알아보기 위 해 2008 년부터 2017 년까지 <조선일보>에서 중국과 관련된 기사 총 312 건을 추 출하였고, 같은 기간 내의 <인민일보>에서 한국과 관련된 기사 총 77 건을 추출하 여 분석하였다. 그리고 두 신문의 전체적인 특성을 분석하고 비교를 통해 양국 국 제뉴스의 차이를 살펴보았다. 본 연구결과에서 <조선일보>의 중국에 관련된 뉴스보도와 <인민일보>의 한국에 관련된 뉴스보도의 전체적인 특성을 비교하고 결론을 내린다. 먼저 보도량에서 두 신문을 비교하면 <조선일보>에 나타난 중국에 관련된 뉴스보도는 <인민일보>에 나타난 한국에 관련된 뉴스보도에 비해 양이 매우 많았다. 그리고 보도주제에 대 한 비교한 결과는 <조선일보>가 전체 기사 가우데 거의 3분의 1의 기사가 경제와 관련된 기사 이었는데 <인민일보>는 정치에 관한 주제가 전체 기사 가우데 거의 3분의 1의 점유율로 압도적으로 많이 보도되었다. 비교를 통해 <인민일보>는 한국 의 문화나 사회에 관한 소프트뉴스보다는 정치와 같은 국가적인 사안에 관한 하 드뉴스에 더 큰 비중을 두고 있음을 알 수 있다. <조선일보>와 <인민일보>의 보도형식을 비교하면 두 신문의 스트레이트 기사와 칼럼의 분포가 거의 비슷한 정도로 나타났다. 그러나 <조선일보>의 경우는 피쳐 기사보다 해설 기사를 더 많이 사용하였다. 그에 반면 <인민일보>에는 피쳐 기사 와 해설 기사가 비슷한 빈도로 나타났다. 이를 통해 알 수 있듯이 <조선일보>가 사건의 배경과 전후 맥락에 대한 해설에 더 집중하고 있는 반면 <인민일보>는 해 당 정보에 대한 전문가의 의견을 더 중시한다. 그리고 보도태도를 비교한 결과는 <조선일보>의 중국에 대한 보도태도가 약간 부정적인데 반해 <인민일보>의 한국 에 대한 보도태도는 우호적인 경향을 보인 것이다. 취재원에 대한 비교한 결과는 기사당 평균 취재원 개수를 보면 두 신문 간에 큰 차이가 없었다. 그리고 두 신문은 모두 인물 취재원에 주로 의존하였고 다음으 로 자료 취재원, 단체 취재원이 차지하였다. 취재원의 직업 유형에 대한 비교 결 과를 살펴보면 <조선일보>보다 <인민일보>의 취재원 직업 유형에서 정부의 비율 이 더 높았다. 이를 통해 <인민일보>는 정부 분야의 취재원에 대한 신뢰도가 더 높다고 믿는 경향을 볼 수 있다. 그에 반면 <조선일보>는 <인민일보>보다 경제 분 야의 취재원을 많이 활용하였다. 전체적으로 보면 <조선일보>에 나타난 중국에 관 련된 뉴스보도의 취재원의 직업 유형 분포가 <인민일보>보다 더 균형적이었다. 다 음으로 취재원 계급에 대한 비교 결과를 살펴보면 <조선일보>와 <인민일보>의 취 재원 계급의 분포에 대해 큰 차이가 없었지만 <조선일보>는 <인민일보>보다 취재 원 계급에서 일반인이 나타난 경우가 더 많았고, <인민일보>는 <조선일보>보다 최 고위 엘리트가 취재원으로 더 많이 나타났다. 기사의 작성자를 비교한 결과는 두 신문이 다 주로 자사의 기자와 특파원에 의존하여 보도되었다. 그러나 <인민일보> 가 <조선일보>보다 해외 특파원이 쓴 기사의 양이 더 많았다. 본 연구는 분석과 비교를 통해 양국 신문이 상대국에 관련된 뉴스보도의 현황 을 파악할 수 있다. 여러 면에서 비교하면 알 수 있듯이 한국과 중국 간에 국제 뉴스의 흐름 현황은 국제뉴스 유통 이론과 일치하다.

;China and South Korea reached the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations by 2017, realizing the economic interests of both sides based on historical ties, cultural proximity and geographical proximity. The scale of information exchange between the two countries is increasing on the basis of frequent exchanges of economic, political, diplomatic and cultural between the two countries, and the demands of the two countries to learn about the other countries have become urgent. International news reported in the media is an important but not the only source of exposure for other readers around the world. However, compared to the positive exchanges between the two countries, the research on international news coverage has not been actively promoted due to various reasons such as difficulties of language and data collection. Therefore, in order to investigate the basic characteristics and specific characteristics of news reports about China in the Korean newspapers and news reports about Korea in the Chinese newspapers, this study conducted a total of 312 articles related to China in the Chosun Ilbo from 2008 to 2017. In the same period, 77 articles related to Korea were extracted from the People’s Daily. We analyzed the overall characteristics of the two newspapers and analyzed the differences in international news between the two countries. The results of this study compares and concludes the overall characteristics of the news reports related to China of the Chosun Ilbo and the news reports related to Korea of the People's Daily. First, comparing the amount of news of the two newspapers, the news reports related to China in the Chosun Ilbo were more numerous than the news reports related to Korea in the People 's Daily, and the average length of the reports was longer. And the result of the comparison on the topic of the report is that the Chosun Ilbo reported that almost one-third of the articles in the entire articles were related to the economy. The People's Daily reported that the topic on politics was mostly about one-third of the overall articles. The comparison shows that the People 's Daily has a greater emphasis on hard news on national issues such as politics than on soft news on Korean culture and society. Comparing the reporting forms of the Chosun Ilbo and the People's Daily, the distribution of straight articles and columns of two newspapers appeared to be almost similar. However, in the case of the Chosun Ilbo, more commentary articles were used than feature articles. On the other hand, feature stories and commentary articles appeared in a similar proportion in the People's Daily. As you can see, the Chosun Ilbo focuses more on the background and context of the incident, while the People's Daily gives more importance to expert opinions on the information. The results of the comparison of reporting attitudes showed that the reporting attitude of the Chosun Ilbo toward China was slightly negative, while the reports of the People's Daily shows a friendly tendency toward Korea. The results of the comparison with the news sources showed that there was no significant difference between the two newspapers in terms of the average number of news sources per article. And both newspapers mainly depended on the person source, followed by the data source and the group source. According to the comparison results of the occupation types of the news sources, the proportion of government news sources of the People's Daily was higher than that of the Chosun Ilbo. In this way, the People’s Daily has shown a tendency to believe that the news sources in government departments are more trustworthy. On the other hand, the Chosun Ilbo used much of the news sources in the economic field than the People's Daily. Overall, the distribution of occupation types of news sources related to China in the Chosun Ilbo was more balanced than the People's Daily. Next, the distribution of the news sources' classes in the Chosun Ilbo and the People's Daily did not differ much, but the Chosun Ilbo had more general public in the news sources' classes than the People's Daily. The People's Daily reported more top elites than the Chosun Ilbo as news sources. Comparing the results of the writers of reports, both newspapers mainly rely on their reporters and correspondents to report. However, the number of foreign correspondents in the People’s Daily is higher than that in the Chosun Ilbo. This study can analyze the current status of international news reports related to China and South Korea through analysis and comparison. As can be seen from a variety of perspectives, the international news flow between Korea and China is consistent with the theory of international news circulation.
