대학 미디아 센타의 서비스 프로그램에 관한 연구

Abstract

In order to attain high quality university education based on the scientific and technological method, Educational Technology must be applied, and Media Center is an indespens-able requirement for this purpose. Media Center came into being First in the 1960's out of necessities to meet the new teaching method and independent study. Yonsei University established Audiovisual Center in 1958, which was first in Korea in the nature of Media Center. Since then, universities begun to gradually realize the importance of Media Center. Today, Media Center is establi-shed in most of the universities in Seoul. However, due to a number of reasons, the benefits of such Media Center are not sully being exploited. The purpose of this Study is to seek the ways and proposals to improve the Service Program of the Media Center. In this Study literatures and professional periodicals were reviewed for theoretical research on the functions and necessities of the Media Center, as well as the contents of the Service Program were made through personal interview with the personnel in charge of such program. Four universities were selected for such case studies: they are Seoul National University, Korea Military Academy, Ewha Womans University, and Seoul Institute of the Arts. The followings are the conclusions and proposals reached through such case studies: 1. All universities include in the Service Program collection of and publication, of various teaching materials and provision of necessary equipments. But, the Instructional Development Service and Educational Planning Service are ignored. It is proposed that the service in these areas be included in their Service Program, and such services should be administered by the professional staff and competent personnel in the area. 2. Competent personnel, who are qualified to administer high quality service program must be secured in adequate number, and constant effort should be directed toward the development of teaching materials. 3. The users should be fully kept informed as to the Service Program, and at the same time a system must be established whereby wishes and suggestions of the users can be readily entertained. 4. It is found desireable to make the service available to the users after the office hour. 5. The Service Program should be expanded form the pre sent teaching orienting method to include assistance to the students for their independent study activities. 6. Space and teaching materials must be provided in adequate quantities to meet growing need for independent study. 7. Space should be provided for the exclusive use by the Media Center, and exisiting class rooms should be so remodeled as to facilitate the use of media equipments. 8. The personnel and faculty members of the university must make cooperative efforts to improve the Service Program of the Media Center with greater interest.;현대의 대학교육은 전통적인 단순한 지식의 전달이 아닌 과학과 공학에 중점을 둔 전문적이고 우수한 양질의 교육이어야 한다. 이러한 교육을 위해서는 교육공학의 적용이 이루어져야 하며 미디아 센타는 이에 필수 요소이다. 미디아 센타는 새로운 교수법과 개별학습 요구에 의해서 1960년대에 생겨나게 되었는데, 우리나라에서는 1958년 연세 대학교에 '음영교육 연구소'가 설치된 것이 그 시초라 하겠다. 그 뒤 각 대학은 차츰 관심을 갖기 시작하여 현재는 서울 시내 대다수의 대학교에 미디아 센타가 설치되어 있지만 그 활용은 여러 요인으로 인해 미비한 실정이다. 따라서 本 硏究에서는 대학 미디아 센타의 역할 및 필요성과 서비스 프로그램의 내용에 관해 살펴보고, 이를 토대로 네 곳의 대학 미디아 센타에서 실제로 운영되고 있는 서비스 프로그램 사례를 조사하여 프로그램의 개선 방안을 모색해 보는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구방법은 관계문헌, 전문잡지를 통한 문헌 연구와 방문을 통한 담당자와의 면담으로 이루어졌다. 本 연구의 연구범위는 다음과 같다. 1. 미디아 센타의 개념 및 필요성에 대하여 고찰한다. 2. 교육의 과정에 있어서 미디아 프로그램의 역할 및 중요성, 그리고 미디아 프로그램의 내용에 대하여 고찰한다. 3. 미디아 센타에서 제공되는 서비스 프로그램을 알아보기 위해 이를 제공하는 요원을 직위별로 분류해 보고, 직위별에 따라 요원의 임무를 고찰한다. 4. 실제로 운영되었던 美 인디애나대학교 미디아 센타의 서비스 프로그램을 고찰한다. 5. 서울 시내 네 곳 미디아 센타(서울대, 육사, 이대, 서울예전)의 서비스 프로그램 사례를 조사하여 본다. 사례 연구 결과 결론 및 제언은 다음과 같다. 1. 각 학교에서 교재의 수집, 기재의 대출, 여러 교재 제작 서비스는 제공되고 있으나 교수 개발 및 교육 계획 서비스는 이루어지지 않고 있으므로 전문요원과 각 전공 영역의 사람들에 의해 이러한 서비스도 이루어져 나가도록 한다. 2. 양질의 서비스 프로그램을 제공하기 위해 알맞은 자격과 능력을 지닌 충분한 數의 요원이 있어야 겠으며, 계속해서 교재개발에 주력해 나가야 겠다. 3. 홍보 활동을 활발히 전개시켜 나가고 사용자의 요구를 신속히 파악하기 위한 체제를 강구한다. 4. 근무시간 外 시간의 서비스 지원을 위해 요원의 배치에 배려가 있어야 하겠다. 5. 교수 위주의 서비스를 점차 확대하여 학생의 개별학습 요구나 활동을 위한 것 까지 지원하도록 한다. 6. 개별학습을 위한 공간 및 교재를 확충해 나가도록 한다. 7. 미디아 센타에서 활용할 수 있는 공간을 확보하여야 하며, 매체 활용에 불편함이 없어야 하겠다. 8. 대학을 운영하는 관계자 및 교수진은 미디아 센타에 대해 보다 많은 이해와 관심을 갖고 협력하여 이를 발전시켜 나가도록 하여야겠다.
