현대는 정보화의 사회로서 새로운 정보들로 넘쳐 흐르고 있기 때문에 이러한 무수한 정보를 어떻게 수집, 활용하느냐가 가장 중요한 시대라고 할 수 있다. 그렇기 때문에 우리는 그러한 정보를 효율적으로 수집, 활용하기 위해 '컴퓨터'라는 제품에 많은 관심을 갖고 있다. 그러나, 컴퓨터의 활용은 조작 기술의 습득만으로 사용할 수 있기 때문에 컴퓨터 교육의 필요성 또한 더욱 더 중요하게 대두되고 있다. 이러한 컴퓨터 교육의 중요성은 역시 학교 교육의 과정에서도 무시할 수는 없다. 1989년 문교부 제정 교육용 컴퓨터가 16BIT로 결정됨으로 우리나라의 컴퓨터 교육이 국민학교에 까지 적용되고 있지만 아직은 컴퓨터의 보급과 교육, 컴퓨터 교육 효과의 기대 등이 서로 조화되고 있지 않기 때문에 초등 교육에 있어서의 컴퓨터 교육의 활용은 어려운 실정이라 하겠다. 그러므로 본 연구에 있어서는 국민학교 다니는 아동들을 대상으로 현재의 교육용 컴퓨터 활용의 문제점을 제기하여 아동기 아동의 환경에 적합한 교육용 메커니즘을 새로이 제시하고자 한다.;The environment in childhood is very important for the children in their childhood because their developmental process, experience and educational content, especially when considering their ages full of illusion and sentiment. The education of computer for the children, however, may be said not enough advanced in respect to our making use of it, though the necessity of computer in an informationized society is increasing. In this study, therefore, an educational mechanism of a potable form with 8bit capacity as a preparational course before making use of the 16bit computer was suggested complementing the unpracticability and uncomfortableness of existing educational computer in order to have it easily accessed by the children in their growing ages and have it directly made use of to children's learning so as to help their intellectual development as well as have it serve to their development of whole personalities with elements such as originality, reasoning, concentration, cooperative sprit and so on. The result from an analysis of studied contents for the development of the educational computer for the children in their childhood can be summarized as follows : First, the composition of product follows a portable form, adequate for the children full of activity, which has the main body with LCD,CPU,FDD etc., and supplemental equipments which include the Korean key board, ENGLISH key board, finger beard, joy stick, electronic blackboard, cassette, speaker, mike, light pen etc, so that some transformation according to each learning course is to be possible. Second, the organization of the product can be diversified in conformity to the characteristics of each subject so that it can be directly made use of for the children's learning as major assignment in the grade school. Third, considering the over-occupation of space and disharmony of children with enviroment that cause by the existing fixed desk top, it was planned as a portable form so that children could use space in both time of use and keeping, and that it might be located always besides with children in place of the school bag. Fourth, it was led easy yo operate, that is, the way of manipulation is eagy to do due to simple division of signes and colors matched to the grade school children's cognitive capacity. Fifth, anthropo-engineering size was got into consideration to minimize the inconvenience when used. Sixth, the form and color of each composition wag processed into a combination of both assembling and disassembling elements and mechanical elements, that would be preferred by children, and into a smooth sene of the also children preferring three primary colors, producing a sense of general unity, hence, leading a differentiation as the product for children. Therefore, our old generation, incidentally, should consider the school life of the children as a first stage for adapting themselves to the future informationized society, recognize the importance of the computer education for children, and guide then into an abundant and a variety of would of experience.
