영화를 통한 문화예술교육 활용방안 기초연구

Abstract

This study began with the question of whether culture and art education through film is being properly conducted. Culture and arts education refers to education that uses cultural arts, such as music, dance, theater, film, entertainment, Korean traditional music, photography, architecture, language, publication, and cartoons, as educational contents in the curriculum. In this study, the culture and arts education of school was discussed, and high school students were selected as the learners. The goal of culture and arts education is not only to stimulate imagination and foster aesthetic senses, but also to help students understand social abilities and participation, reflect on individual life, and learn diversity through art. Currently, film education in school culture and arts education is relatively insignificant in demand as it focuses on production education or simple appreciation rather than the social and cultural functions of movies. Since culture and arts education should be organically linked within the framework of education, the cultural phenomena using the movies should be grasped and understood prior to the process of film production, and encourage creativity based on reflection. This paper says that the process and goals of film education in the current culture and arts education should be reflected in nature. Therefore, this study suggested the use of culture and arts education through movies, but discussed Korean culture and education that should be preceded before the production process, focusing on the topic of family culture. The term "family culture" used in this study encompasses all aspects of family, including the form and system of family, values, relationships and consciousness of the members. Korean family culture before and after industrialization has many differences. Unlike traditional society, where the patriarchal system centered around parental blood ties, various family cultures emerged as the number of nuclear families increased and individual choice and freedom became more important. Changes in Korean family culture are also evident in movies. In this study, various family cultures were analyzed by selecting the <A Romantic Papa>(1960), <Gilsotteum>(1986), <Family Ties>(2006), and <Parasite>(2019) based on the diversity of the themes, central figures and events of each film, and whether the film was recognized for their work, artistry, or popularity. In <A Romantic Papa>, the family of patriarchs appears, but children and sons-in-law, who represent a new generation, overcome the family crisis. <Gilsotteum> depicts separated families who have not been together for a long time and are unable to be reunited. <Family Ties> shows a family made of love, not blood ties, and <Parasite> shows a polarized families divided into classes based on economic wealth. After analyzing the historical background and family culture of each film, individual questionings and activities that can be used in culture and arts education were presented. The questionings and class activities were presented in narrative, character-related, film-related, space-related, props-related, and other categories to enable more sophisticated cultural understanding, and ultimately family cultural understanding through the organic relationship of the times and families. This study focused on cultural understanding education, however, failed to present the entire educational method, including the creative process based on it. It is regrettable that it was not used in the field of the actual cultural and artistic education. However, it is meaningful that the social and cultural phenomena reflected in the movie, especially various works related to family culture, were analyzed to suggest ways to improve the existing cultural and artistic education, and the possibility of cultural and artistic education was found by comparing and utilizing four films. Hopefully, this paper offers an opportunity to expand existing research on culture and arts education in anticipation of future use and research.;본 연구는 영화를 통한 문화예술교육이 적절하게 이루어지고 있는가에 대한 의문점에서 시작되었다. 문화예술교육이란 음악, 무용, 연극, 영화, 연예, 국악, 사진, 건축, 어문, 출판 및 만화 등의 문화예술을 교육 내용으로 하거나 교육과정에 활용하는 교육을 말한다. 본 연구에서는 학교 문화예술교육을 논의하였고, 학습자는 고등학생으로 선정하였다. 문화예술교육의 목표는 예술을 통해 상상력을 자극하고 심미안을 가지게 하는 것에 치우치지 않고 사회적 능력과 참여, 개인의 삶에 대한 성찰, 그를 통한 다양성의 이해에 도움을 주는 것이다. 현재 학교 문화예술교육에서의 영화교육은 영화의 사회문화적 기능보다는 제작 교육이나 단순 감상에 초점이 맞춰져 비교적 수요가 미미하다고 할 수 있다. 문화예술교육은 문화예술과 예술교육이 교육의 틀 내에서 유기적으로 연계되어야 하기 때문에 영화를 제작하는 과정 이전에 영화를 활용한 문화 현상에 대한 포착과 이해가 반드시 선행되어야 하고 그 성찰을 토대로 한 창작을 이끌어가야 한다. 현 문화예술교육에서의 영화교육의 과정과 목표를 본질적으로 성찰해야 한다는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 영화를 통한 문화예술교육의 활용방안을 제시하되 창작 과정 전 선행되어야 할 한국 문화교육을 중심으로 논의했으며 주제는 가족문화로 하였다. 본 연구에서 사용하는 가족문화라는 용어는 가족의 형태와 제도, 가치관, 구성원들의 관계 및 의식 등 가족과 관련된 모든 요소를 아우르는 개념이다. 한국의 가족문화는 산업화를 전후로 매우 다른 양상을 보인다. 부계 혈연의 가부장제가 주를 이뤘던 전통사회와 달리 핵가족의 수가 늘어나고 개인의 선택과 자유가 중요시되면서 다양한 가족문화가 나타났다. 한국 가족문화의 변화는 영화에서도 드러난다. 본 연구에서는 각 영화가 그려내는 주제 및 중심이 되는 인물 및 사건들의 양상이 다양한가, 작품성과 예술성을 인정받았는가, 대중성을 가졌는가를 기준으로 영화 <로맨스 빠빠>(1960), <길소뜸>(1986), <가족의 탄생>(2006), <기생충>(2019)을 선정하여 영화에 나타난 각양각색의 가족문화를 분석하였다. <로맨스 빠빠>에서는 가부장제의 가족이 등장하지만 새로운 세대를 대변하는 자식들과 사위가 가족의 위기를 이겨낸다. <길소뜸>에서는 오랜 시간 동안 함께 하지 못해 다시 만났음에도 결합되기 어려운 이산가족들의 모습을 그린다. <가족의 탄생>에서는 혈연이 아니라 사랑으로 이루어진 가족을, <기생충>에서는 경제적인 부를 기준으로 계급이 나뉜 양극화된 가족의 모습을 보여준다. 각 영화의 시대적 배경과 가족문화를 분석한 후 문화예술교육에서 활용할 수 있는 개별 발문 및 활동을 제시하였다. 발문 및 활동은 영화의 서사 관련, 영화의 캐릭터 관련, 영화의 공간, 소품 관련 및 기타로 나누어 제시하여 보다 정교한 문화 이해가 가능하도록 하였고, 시대적 배경과 관련된 활동을 포함하여 최종적으로는 시대와 가족의 유기적인 관계를 통한 가족문화 이해를 목표로 두었다. 본 연구는 문화 이해 교육에 초점을 맞춰 이를 기반으로 한 창작 과정을 포함한 교육 방안 전체를 제시하지는 못하였고 실제 문화예술교육 현장에서 활용하지 못했던 점이 아쉬운 측면으로 남는다. 그러나 영화 속에 반영된 사회·문화 현상, 그중에서도 가족문화와 관련된 다양한 작품을 분석하여 기존의 문화예술교육을 개선할 수 있는 활용방안을 제시했다는 것에 의의가 있으며, 영화 4편을 비교·활용하여 한국 가족문화를 이해할 수 있는 문화예술교육의 가능성을 발견하였다. 추후 이뤄질 활용과 연구를 기대하며 기존의 문화예술교육 연구를 확장시키는 기회가 되었길 바란다.
