학문 목적 한국어 학습자를 위한 심리학 석사 학위 논문의 서론 부분에 대한 장르 분석 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 장르 분석을 통해 심리학을 전공하는 학문 목적 한국어 학습자, 혹은 사회과학 전공 학습자들에게 학위 논문의 일반화된 모형을 제시하는 데에 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 사회과학 전공, 그중에서도 전형적인 IMRD 구조를 가진 대표적인 전공인 심리학 전공의 석사 학위 논문 서론의 장르 분석 연구를 진행하였다. 연구에 앞서 장르와 담화 공동체에 대한 이론적 배경을 살펴보았으며, 장르 분석의 개념을 살펴본 후 학위 논문 서론의 장르 분석을 다룬 대표적인 연구들을 살펴보았다. 우선 Swales(1990)의 CARS 모형을 살펴보았으며, Bunton(2002)에서 이를 바탕으로 수정한 수정된 CARS 모형에 대해 알아보았다. 마지막으로 박은선(2006)에서 위 내용을 바탕으로 도출해 낸 한국어 교육 전공의 서론 모형인 K-CARS 모형을 살펴보았다. 또한, 장르 분석한 내용을 바탕으로 제2 언어 쓰기에서 장르가 어떻게 활용될 수 있는지도 알아보았다. 본격적인 연구를 위해 서울 소재 심리학 전공 상위 순위 7개 대학의 석사 학위 논문을 수집하였으며, 총 580편 중 약 10%를 무선 추출하여 55편을 분석 대상으로 선정하였다. 분석을 위해 Bunton(2002)에서 Swales(1990)의 CARS 모형을 바탕으로 수정한 ‘수정된 CARS 모형’에 Lee(2001), 박은선(2006)에서 언급된 구별불능 이동 마디, 약한 이동 마디 2를 추가하여 분석 틀을 구성하였다. 다음 세 명의 평정자를 대상으로 평정자 훈련을 거쳐 표본 1차 분석을 진행하였고, 평정자 교섭 과정을 거친 뒤 표본 2차 분석을 진행하였다. 이후 Fleiss 카파 계수를 측정하여 평정자 간‘거의 일치함’ 수준의 신뢰도를 확보하였다. 평정자 간에 교섭하고 분석한 내용을 바탕으로 연구자 1인이 전체 자료 55편에 대한 장르 분석을 진행하고, 분석 결과를 통해 한국어 모어 화자가 작성한 심리학 석사 학위 논문 서론의 일반화된 모형(PSY-CARS 모형)을 도출해 냈다. 이를 통해 심리학 석사 학위 논문 서론 부분의 일반화된 모형이 분석 틀과는 어떤 차이를 보이는지 살펴보았다. 또한, PSY-CARS 모형이 박은선(2006)의 K-CARS 모형과 이슬(2016)의 MB-CAR S 모형과는 어떠한 차이를 보이는지를 알아보았다. 그중 같은 계열 전공을 분석 대상으로 선정한 MB-CARS 모형을 위주로 분석했으며, 그 결과 MB-CARS 모형과 PSY-CARS 모형은 이동 마디 구조 및 단계 구조에서 전체적으로는 큰 차이가 발견되지 않았지만, 세부적으로 살펴본 결과 많은 차이를 발견할 수 있었다. 이처럼 다른 계열의 전공뿐만 아니라 같은 사회과학 전공 안에서도 이동 마디-단계의 구조상 차이가 발견되었기 때문에 이를 위해 같은 계열을 전공이라도 그 세부 전공에 대한 장르 분석 연구가 선행되어야 할 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 심리학 석사 학위 논문의 일반화된 모형을 도출하여 심리학을 전공하고자 하는 학습자들에게 도움이 될 기초 자료를 마련하였으며, 타 전공의 서론 모형과의 비교를 통해 다른 계열의 전공 분야뿐만 아니라 같은 계열의 전공 또한 세부적인 전공에 따라 장르 분석 연구가 이루어져야 함을 밝혔다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 하지만, 본 연구는 모든 심리학 논문을 분석한 것이 아닌 약 10%의 표본만을 분석했다는 점에서 한계점을 가진다. 또한, 평정자 간의 신뢰도가 Fleiss 카파 계수 ‘거의 일치함’ 수준에 해당했지만 완벽하게 일치한 수준에 다다르지는 못하였다는 점에서도 한계를 지닌다. 후속 연구에서는 이 같은 한계를 극복하여 다양한 전공의 텍스트에 대한 장르 분석이 이루어져 학문 목적 학습자들 대상 전공별 장르 중심 쓰기 교육을 위한 기초 자료가 다양하게 구축되기를 기대한다. 나아가, 다양한 전공을 학습하는 학문 목적 한국어 학습자들을 위한 전공별 장르 중심 교육이 이루어지기를 기대해본다.;The purpose of this study is to provide students who are studying Korean for Academical purposes(KAP) and are majoring in psychology or Social science studies a generalized Introduction model of theses through Genre Analysis. For this purpose, this study analyzes the rhetorical organization of Psychology majors theses introductions sections written by native Korean speakers. For the analysis, psychology major’s theses have been collected from 7 different Universities. The number of collected theses was 580, and 55 of them were randomly selected as subjects of analysis. The framework for the analysis was organized based on Bunton’s Modified CARS model. Also, 2 more moves - ‘unidentified move’, ‘weak move 2’ were added to the framework based on Lee(2001), Park(2006). Then, 3 raters were trained according to the framework, and 1st sample analysis and 2nd sample analysis were conducted. In between 1st and 2nd sample analysis, negotiation had been made between 3 raters. Later, Inter-rater reliability has been measured using Fleiss’Kappa. According to this Fleiss’Kappa, It can be said that the agreement of sample analysis between 3 raters has been made. Therefore, the researcher was able to analyze the main subjects of analysis based on complete agreements. As a result, this study suggested the PSY-CARS model, a generalized Model of psychology major theses introduction written by native Korean speakers. The study has also found that there is certain difference between K-CARS model and MB-CARS model. Between these two models, the MB-CARS model was mainly compared with the PSY-CARS model as it is based on a similar framework. It has been found that even though there were not many differences found in the structure of Move and Steps, there were differences in detail, such as the development of the contents and sequence of the contents. Therefore, It can be said that even majors that are in the same social-science field needs more detailed genre analysis based on major. This study has significance as it analyzed psychology major theses and came up with the generalized model of psychology major theses. Also, this study has found that there should be more genre analysis of different major since differences between different majors introduction model has been found, even when they were in the same field. It is expected that this study’s findings would contribute to Korean academic writing for KAP students who are studying various majors.
