한국어와 한국 문화 교육을 위한 드라마 활용 방안 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 한국 문화와 한국어 노출 환경이 부족한 캄보디아 내에서 한국어를 학습하는 캄보디아인들이 말하기와 듣기 영역 학습에서 어려움을 겪는 다는 선행연구의 연구 결과를 바탕으로 기존 교재에서 벗어나 한국어와 문화 학습을 재미있게 익힐 수 있도록 도움을 줄 수 있는 드라마를 활용한 교육 방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 교육 방안을 설계하기에 앞서 왕립프놈펜대학교에 재학 중인 한국어학과 캄보디아인 학습자들을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 설문 조사의 목적은 드라마를 활용하여 한국어 수업을 진행했을 시 이에 대한 학습자들의 반응을 알아보는 데 있다. 설문 조사 실시 결과, 캄보디아인 한국어 학습자들은 드라마를 활용한 한국어 수업에 대해 주로 긍정적인 반응을 가지고 있었다. 설문 조사 실시 후, 본 연구의 진행을 위해 어떤 드라마를 선정할 것인지, 수업을 어떻게 진행할 것인지, 드라마의 장면을 어떻게 활용할 것인지에 대해 고려하여 연구를 설계, 진행하였다. 선행 연구들에서 캄보디아 한국어 학습자들의 경우 한국 문화 노출 빈도가 낮아 한국 문화에 대해 매우 기초적인 것들만 알고 있으며 이러한 학습자들이 실제적인 언어 표현, 문화 교육을 받아야 함에도 불구하고 생동감 있는 매체를 활용한 교육들은 활용되고 있지 않음을 지적하였다. 선행연구와 설문 조사를 통해 개인적으로 한국어 표현과 문화를 익히기 위해 드라마나 영화와 같은 매체를 통해 학습하고 있는 학습자들이 있으나 개인적으로 학습하는 학습자들이 교육적 가치가 있는 드라마와 요소들을 찾아 학습하는 것에는 한계가 있기 때문에 학습 보다는 재미를 위해 시청하고 끝나는 경우가 많았다. 이러한 이유로 본 연구는 한국어 교육과 한국 문화 교육 측면을 다 같이 학습할 수 있는 한국 드라마 장면을 활용한 수업 지도안을 설계하고자 했으며 연구를 통해 캄보디아 중급 학습자를 대상으로 하는 수업 방안들을 제시하였다.;Based on the result of previous study in the area, Cambodian learners in KFL (Korean as a foreign language) setting face difficulties especially in learning speaking and listening skills due to the lack of exposure to natural language environment. Present study aims to research new ways of instruction to solve this problem by using scenes from Korean TV series in order to provide authentic and fun learning experience of learning Korean language and culture instead of merely using textbook materials. Cambodian learners majoring Korean language at the Royal Phnom Penh University of Cambodia were asked to participate in a survey prior to designing the teaching methods. The survey was conducted to find out their attitudes towards the idea of Korean classes using TV series. Survey results showed that Cambodian learners of Korean language had positive reactions towards this new instruction method. Upon completion of the survey, research was carefully designed and conducted with thoughtful consideration on selecting the appropriate TV series and scenes for the lesson plans of the study. Previous studies had shown that the amount of Korean culture exposure that Cambodian learners could experience in KFL setting was very limited to understand the culture. Studies also pointed out that the instructions with lively media were not incorporated in the classroom to deliver authentic language expressions related to various context even though students’ limited knowledge of Korean culture can be easily resolved by doing so. Although there are a few cases of individual learners who used TV series or movies with the purpose to familiarize themselves with Korean culture based on previous studies and surveys, it is doubtful that these independent learners could manage to obtain systematic materials with educational values without any guidance. Their activity of watching the series usually has a larger share in fun rather than in learning. For this very reason, present study aims to develop a teaching method for Intermediate Cambodian learners using specific scenes from Korean TV series with the hope of improving the quality of instruction to the learners in the aspects of both Korean language and culture education.
