태권도 선수에서 체육교사로의 전환에 관한 내러티브 탐구

Abstract

본 연구는 태권도 겨루기 전문 선수들의 체육교사로 전환에 관한 경험을 내러티브 탐구 방식으로 적용한 사례 연구이다. 본 연구를 위해 태권도 겨루기 전문 선수 4명의 태권도 선수로서의 삶, 체육교육 대학원생으로의 삶, 이에 따른 지식 형성과 교생 실습 경험에 대한 내용을 구체적으로 진술하고 이들이 겪은 경험이 어떠한 의미를 갖고 있는지 탐색하였다. 자료 수집은 연구자를 포함한 연구 참여자들에게 반구조화된 면담과 비구조화된 면담을 혼용하여 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 인터뷰 기간은 2015년 7월~8월 간 총 8주에 걸쳐 진행하였으며, 부족한 내용은 보충자료와 이메일을 통해 수집하였다. 이 후 자료 분석을 위해 수집된 면담자료를 전사하고, 음성 녹음파일과 일치하는지 반복적으로 확인하였다. 전사 자료를 읽고 되풀이하는 과정에서 연구문제와 관련된 중요한 단어에 색을 달리 표시하여 면담문제 중심의 현장 텍스트의 구간을 구분하고 공통적인 주제를 통합하여, 각 주제를 토대로 연구의 중심이 되는 의미를 선정하였다. 먼저 4가지 핵심 주제를 찾아 분류하고 연구 참여자 4명의 자료를 읽고 표시한 주제에 공통적인 내용들을 합하여 일치되는 주제를 확인하였다. 연구 결과 태권도 겨루기 전문 선수에서 체육교사로 전환한 경험과 그 이유 및 의미를 해석하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 태권도 전공 및 선수로서의 삶은 태권도 겨루기 전문 선수로서 제시된 바른 방향을 위한 삶을 살았다. 다수의 운동선수와 마찬가지로 연구에 참여한 태권도 겨루기 전문 선수들 역시 위배되지 않은 삶을 위한 최선의 노력을 기울였으며, 비인기 종목이라는 한계를 극복하고 동시대의 삶에 최선을 다했다. 하지만 공통적인 견해로 미래에 대한 불안감에 놓여 있었다. 둘째, 이와 같은 미래의 불안감은 연구에 참여한 태권도 겨루기 전문 선수들을 동일 계열인 체육교육전공 대학원생으로 혹은 학과 내에서 교직이수를 통한 체육교사의 길로 접어들게 만드는 계기가 되었다. 특히 대표적인 무도스포츠인 태권도와 일반 체육학과의 동일성에 관한 의견을 종합한 결과 연구에 참여한 태권도 겨루기 전문 선수 모두는 유년기부터 시작된 신체활동과 스포츠에 대한 관심으로 이를 받아들이는데 어려움이 없었다. 셋째, 이러한 관점에 따라 대학원과정에서 형성된 교직과 교과내용에 대한 지식이 결과적으로 현실을 반영할 수 있음을 인식하고 이에 따른 다각적 노력을 기울이려고 하였다. 특히 실기와 관련하여 태권도라는 단일 종목을 구기 종목과 같은 여러 분야로 확대하는 계기를 마련하였으며, 이론적 지식과 관련하여 학과 수업 수강 및 다각적 노력을 통해 형성하려고 하였다. 넷째, 이와 같은 노력과 더불어 교생실습 경험을 통하여 연구에 참여한 태권도 겨루기 전문 선수들은 공통적으로 학생 지도와 이에 따른 어울린 시간에 대한 긍정적인 추억형성으로 더욱 교사의 꿈에 다가갈 수 있었다. 이러한 관점에 따라 연구 참여자들의 체육교사에 관한 지각된 의미는 스스로 자신이 추구해야 할 본질적인 삶의 방식이라는 것을 깨달을 수 있었다. 이상의 결과를 통해 태권도 겨루기 전문 선수에서 직업전환의 일환으로 체육교사가 되기 위한 이야기를 풀어나감으로서 미래지향적 사고와 함께 교사의 실천적 자질 함양을 위한 삶의 방식을 제시할 수 있었다.;This study was a case study applying the Taekwondo athletes compete experienced physical education teachers on the transition process to explore a narrative way.
