Collage에 의한 섬유예술 표현의 연구

Abstract

현대 미술은 형상의 자율적 추구와 함께 다변화 복잡화됨에 따라 장르개념이 모호하게 되었다. 20세기 초 큐비스트(Cubist)에 의해 시도되고 다다이즘(Dadaism)을 통해 더욱 다양하게 확산된 꼴라쥬(collage)기법은 60년대 이후 예술의 새로운 쟝르로 부각된 섬유예술에 유입되어 재료의 사용이나 표현기법에 많은 영향을 미치게 되었다. 따라서 섬유예술의 미적가치(美的價値)가 확대되고 과거의 한정된 범주에서 벗어나 보다 적극적이며 능동적인 순수 조형 세계로 전개 되었다. 섬유예술에 도입된 꼴라쥬는 오브제 작품으로 나타나게 되었고 3차원적인 섬유 조각 형태로까지 발전하여 조형적인 새로운 방향을 제시하고 표현 영역의 확대를 가져왔다. 본 논문에서는 현대 회화사속의 꼴라쥬개념과 역사를 살펴보고, 꼴라쥬와 섬유예술과의 연관성을 고찰하는 것을 이론적 배경으로 하였다. 현대 섬유 꼴라쥬 작품에 나타난 재료와 기법을 분류함으로써 섬유예술의 경향과 조형적 특성을 분석하였다. 그 결과 재료에서는 천연섬유, 종이, 가죽, 깃털, 나무로부터 산업사회의 산물인 금속, 합성수지, 인조섬유에 이르기까지 다양한 면모를 보임으로써, 어떤 제한이나 한계가 없이 작가의 표현에 적합하면 어떤 것도 가능하다는 일면을 보여 주었다. 기법에서는 자수, 직조, 종이작업, 펠트, 퀼팅 등에 꼴라쥬기법이 혼합되어짐으로써 평면적인 화면에 부조적인 차원을 부여하였다. 따라서 섬유예술에 있어서의 꼴라쥬 도입은 섬유예술을 독특한 조형 예술로 부각시켜 주었고 새로운 가능성을 제시해 주었다. 이러한 섬유예술에 도입된 꼴라쥬는 작가들의 꾸준한 관심과 실험적 시도로써 새로운 재료개발과 표현기법을 모색하여 현대섬유 예술에 더욱 기여하게 될 것이다.;The modern fine arts come to have the vague genre conception as the autonomous searching for the shape, diversification, and the complication proceed. In the beginning part of 20th century, the technique of collage planned by the cubist and wide spread more and more through the Dadaism was inserted into the fiber art shown as the new genre of the fine arts after the 60th, and it influenced much to the use or technique of expression of material. Accordingly, the aesthetic value of fiber art is widened, and apart from the limited boundary of the past, it became the pure moulding world which is more positive and more active. The collage inseted into the fiber art came to be expressed as the Objet work and even developed to the style of three-dimensional fiber engraving and it pointed the new direction of moulding, and the wide sphere of expression was brought. In this thesis, the conception and history of collage shown in the modern painting are exercised, and the relation of collage and fiber art is examined, and this is the theoretical background. By classifying the material and technique shown in the collage work of modern fiber, the tendency of fiber art and the moulding characteristic were analyzed. As a result, the material showed many characteristic from the natural fiber, paper, leather, feather, and wood to the matal which is the product of industrial society, synthetic resin, and the artificial fiber. and without any limitation, it showed that it could be used only when it was adequate to the expression of the artist. In the technology, the embroidery, the tapestry, the paper making, the felt, the quilting, etc. were mixed with the technique of collage, and it gave the relief dimension to the plane canvas. Accordingly, the inducement of collage in the fiber art made the fiber art the peculiar moulding art, and presented the new possibility. The collage inserted into such fiber art will contribute more and more to the modern fiber art with the continuous interest and the experimental efforts of the artists in the new development of the material and planning the technique of expression.
