노래 심리치료(Song Psychotherapy)를 위한 한국 대중가요의 내용 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 한국 사회 변화의 상징적 지표이자 의사소통의 매개체로서의 한국 대중 가요의 가사를 심리 사회적 현상을 중심으로 분석한 것이다. 1930년부터 2001년 7월까지 총 2068곡의 한국 대중가요를 선정하여 분석하였다. 분석한 가사들은 주제와 내용에 따라 분류하였고, 각각의 주제와 시기에 따라 범주화되었다. 각 시기는 1930년-1949년, 1950년-1959년, 1960년-1969년, 1970년-1979년, 1980년-1989년, 1990년-1999년, 2000년-2001년 7월까지의 일곱 시기로 나뉘어졌고, 남녀간의 애정관계, 대인관계, 주제가 있는 노래, 묘사적인 노래, 기타 등 다섯 가지의 범주가 선택되었으며 각 범주는 하위단계를 갖는다. 분석한 가사의 주제들 가운데 남녀간의 애정관계, 그 중에서도 이별에 관한 감정들이 가장 주된 내용이라는 결과가 나타났다. 대부분의 대중가요 가사들은 인간관계로부터 비롯된 감정의 다양한 측면들과 부정적인 태도, 과거에 집착하는 경향을 보이고 있다. 사랑과 이별에 관한 개인적인 감정들을 다룬 노래의 가사들은 변화하는 시대, 사회환경에 따라 함께 변화하는 연인들간의 다양한 애정 표현 방식을 반영하고 있다. 주제가 있는 노래의 가사들은 사회, 경제, 문화, 정치적 변화에 따라 각 시기 별로 나타나는 주제의 내용이 특징적으로 변화하는 것을 볼 수 있고, 그것을 통해 역사적 배경과 사회적 특징들이 반영됨을 알 수 있다. 가사에는 한국 사회에 공존하고 있는 표현되지 않은 사고, 즉 유교적 관념에 기초한 보수적인 가치 체계와 서구식의 자유스럽고 적극적인 사고방식을 반영한 가치체계가 잠재되어 있다. 보수적인 옛 가치를 반영하는 가사들은 수동성적이고 소극적인 사고 방식, 인내와 윤리가 강조되는 여성성을 반영하고, 서구의 자유로운 새 가치를 반영하는 가사들은 무기력한 구세대와 눈앞의 현실을 비판하고 보다 나은 것을 적극적으로 수용하는 변화된 가치체계를 대변한다. 한국의 대중가요는 표현되지 않은 사고와 쟁점을 반영하는 기능뿐만 아니라 한 시대의 대중 사회적인 쟁점, 역사적 배경을 반영하며 그 심리적 측면에 있어서 개인 사회적인 변화의 상징적인 지표로서 기능한다. 음악치료에서 노래가 갖는 역할은 매우 중요하다. 노래는 의사소통 기능, 투사적 기능, 연상 기능, 자기 표현의 기능 등을 활용한 노래 심리 치료(Song Psychotherapy)를 통해서 내담자의 정서와 내면의 문제, 무의식을 탐구하는 치료적 도구로 폭넓게 활용되어질 수 있고 일반인들이 가장 수용하기 쉬운 대중가요를 노래 자료(Song Material)로 선택할 경우 그 효율성은 더욱 증대될 것이다. 따라서 음악치료사가 임상 이전에 습득해야할 정확한 정보 인지를 위한 대중가요의 내용 분석은 필수적으로 선행되어야 하는 것이다. 본 연구는 당대의 역사적 배경 및 사회 문화적 배경을 반영하는 대중가요를 통하여 음악을 수용하는 사람들의 심리 사회적 쟁점을 규명하고, 표면적으로 드러나지 않은 잠재된 사고와 정서를 분석하여, 그것이 사회적 변화에 영향을 받음과 시대의 흐름에 따라 변화하는 것, 노래 자료(Song Material)로서의 대중 가요의 활용에 대한 연구를 함으로서 그 결과를 토대로 음악치료의 대상자들에게 보다 양질의 음악적, 심리적 중재를 공급하고자 한다.; The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of Korean popular song as a material for song psychotherapy, communication medium and a symbolic indicator of change in Korean society. A total of 2,068 Korean popular songs were selected from 1930 to July 2001. The lyrics were analyzed to establish a theme and content, and they were listed under different theme and time periods. The period was divided into seven, as follows: 1930-1949, 1950-1959, 1960-1969, 1970-1979, 1980-1989, 1990-1999, 2000-2001(July). Five main categories were chosen and each has its own sub-categories: romantic relationship, non-romantic relationship, topical songs, descriptive songs, and others. And these categories branches out for further sub-categories. Among the different themes of lyrics, the top keyword is breakup. Most popular song lyrics dealt with the negative emotions, consequences or obsession for the past, aspects and elements of romantic relationship. Such lyrics, describes personal sentiments of romance or breakup, reflex the way of expressions of varied feelings between lovers. The themes of songs varied from first period to seventh period, depending on the social, economic, cultural and political changes. Korean popular songs, not only functioned as a mirror and outlet of unexpressed ideas and issues, but also as a symbolic indicator of change in traditional values and socio-cultural temperament. In music therapy, songs take a great essential role. Possibly, song psychotherapy will be an useful technique as to observe feelings and internal conflict or sub-consciousness of the clients. Furthermore, the efficiency of therapy will be maximized, if popular song is adopted, since it is easier to be accepted than any other material by people. As examined above, Korean popular songs have taken a role of representation for the public social issues and historical surroundings, to say nothing of personal thinking and issues latent in mind. Lastly, this paper aims to provide those who needs music therapy with well qualified musical-psychological intervention, on such a ground mentioned above.
