현대조각의 조형적 특성

Abstract

Contemporary sculpturaL art is likely, as compared with convcntionaL sculpture, to part from the attributes sculpture originally has and becomes varied more complicatedly than expcted. In the light of peculiarities of modern times, presentday's artists become keenly interestcd in the questions of what the decisive factors of plastic idea are, how technical skills vary with newly innovated materials by scientific development. A thorough study on the questions would satisfy part of artists enthusiasm for the pursuit of a new feasibility in the futuristic world of expression. which may be one of common subjects of today's artists. This study intends to analyse diuersified styles of modern sculpture and its transitional process and causes of expressional subjectivity, then to exemlify plastic idiosyncracies as seen from the appearance of new kinds of materials and from the pursuit of and development in expressional techniques in appropriateness of the newly innovated materials. This study ranges from the late nineteenth century of sculpture to the twentieth, especially with emphasis on the latter half of the twentieth. A historical research on modern sculpture was conducted, and chronological transition, characteristics of materials innovated by scientific development, characteristics of sculpturaL techniques achieved by improved sense of beauty and newly innovated materials. and effects of these characteristics upon plastic art, were analysed. This study depending on the literature and records, analysed the transitional process of expressionaL styles on theoritical basis. Sculptors of positivf positive activities were randomly sampled out in each of poriods, and idiosyncratic works from each of the sampled sculptors, and an analysis and comparison with one another were made. And then mention was made of materipls of bring forth new understanding owing to the scientific development and specially excavated techniques. The resultant findings show that a new sense of beauty through an experimental pursuit of current sculpture should be formed, and proper secection of materials and amelioration of skilL would contribute. to building a creative world of expression. Further-more, modern sculpturc necessitages a positive, experimental spirit, and the appearancc of new materials and a wide range of development of techniques would be conducive and contribute to an attempt for a new kind of expression.;우리가 지금까지 생각해 왔던 傳統的인 彫刻藝術에 대하여 최근의 彫刻은 彫刻이 가지고 있는 모든 속성에서 벗어나려고 하고 있으며, 예측할 수 없을 정도로 多樣해지고 있다. 現代의 時代的 特殊性에 의하여 現代作家들의 造形理念形成의 要因이 무엇이며, 科學文明의 發展에 따른 새로운 材料의 등장가 그에 따른 表現技法이 어떻게 달라졌는지에 대한 관심이 커지고 있으며, 이에 관련된 문제들을 硏究하므로 새로이 展開될 表現世界의 可能性을 찾으려는 의욕은 現代作家들에게 공통된 과제가 될것이다. 이에 본 硏究에서는 現代彫刻에 있어서 多樣한 樣式과 함께 表現主觀의 變貌樣相과 그 要因을 分析하며, 科學의 發展에 따른 새로운 材料의 出現과 그에 따른 表現技法의 追求와 開發에 의하여 나타난 造形的 特性을 규명하는데 目的이 있다. 本 硏究의 構成內容은 19世紀末에서 20世紀彫刻 전반에 걸쳐 다루었으나, 특히 20世紀 후반을 現代彫刻으로 보고 역점을 두었다. 現代彫刻의 展開를 通하여 史的考察을 하였으며, 時代變遷에 따른 表現主觀에 의한 特性, 科學文明의 發達에 의해서 이루어진 材料에 의한 特性, 새로운 美意識과 새로운 材料의 발굴에 따라서 追求된 技法에 의한 特性으로 분류하여 分析하였다. 本 硏究에서 使用된 文獻硏究는 理論的 배경을 中心으로 表現樣式의 變遷過程을 分析하였다. 作家選定은 그 시기에 作品活動이 活潑했던 作家들을 임의 표집하였으며, 作品도 그 作家가 制作한 作品中에서 特性이 있는 作品을 임의로 표집하여 比較 分析하였다. 材料와 技法은 科學文明의 發展에 의해 새롭게 이해되는 材料와 그에 따라 특별히 개발된 技法을 대상으로 하였다. 本 硏究에서 얻어진 사실은 現代彫刻에 있어서 實驗的인 追求에 의하여 새롭게 美意識을 형성하여야 하고, 또한 적절한 材料의 選擇과 技法에 대한 개발로 獨創的 表現世界를 형성할 수 있음을 알수 있다. 이와 같이 現代彫刻은 積極的인 實驗精神을 수반하고 있으며 새로운 材料의 出現과 그에 따른 技法의 폭 넓은 개발은 表現試圖에 貢獻하고 있음을 알수 있다.
