Abstract

오늘날 美國뿐아니라 전세계는 국제 공통의 美術양식의 새로운 언어를 찾아 많은 變貌를 거듭하고 있다. 美國은 새로운 美術의 중추역할을 맡고 있으며 美國의 미술상황은 관심의 대상으로 부각된다. 美國 繪畵의 경우에 있어서 특히 사실주의의 흐름은 매우 강해서 모더니즘에 휩쓸리지 않는 경향이 짙다. 이러한 흐름속에서 Andrew Wyeth는 광활한 美園的 傳統에 바탕을 두고 美國 繪畵史에서 확고한 위치를 가지고 있다. 그것은 繪畵에서 일면 대중미술과의 화해를 이룩한 사실을 새롭게 한다. 따라서 그의 독특한 사실성과 表現技法에 관심이 커지고 있으며 오늘날 많은 사람들이 그의 作品을 愛好하고 있다. 이에 本 論文은 Andrew Wyeth의 사실성, 부친 N.O.Wyeth에 의한 영향, 작품의 주된 매체인 pencil, Water color, dry brush, tempera에 의한 독특한 技法을 연구하고 그의 全生涯를 보낸 펜실베니아주의 Kuerner家와 메인주의 Olson家로 나누어 代表的인 作品을 比較 分析했으며 그의 作品世界가 1960년대 이후 美國의 現代 美術에 어떠한 영향을 끼쳤는가를 연구하였다. 本 硏究에 사용된 方法은 文獻硏究를 中心으로 Andrew Wyeth의 作品世界를 分析해 나갔다. 文獻은 주로 Andrew Wyeth의 畵集과 美國의 美術史, 美學을 통해서 다루었고 作品選定은 作家의 作品世界에서 代表的인 作品을 선정하여 다루었다. 本 硏究에서 얻어진 사실은 Andrew Wyeth의 作品世界가 美術의 이즘이나 시대적 상황에 기인되는것과 달리 그의 부친에 의한 個入的 綜會修業과 生活環境에 의해 形成되었다는 것이다. 그리고 일반적으로 畵家들 사이에 경시되어온 작품매체의 技術的인 문제를 잘 融化시킴으로서 성공한 畵家로 볼 수 있다. 또한 Andrew Wyeth는 오랫동안 삽화와 순수회화 사아에서 갈등을 느껴온 부친 N.C.Wyeth를 통해서 자연스럽게 Illustration을 회화의 본격적인 영역의 차원으로 끌어올리는데 성공했고 그의 작품세계에서 나타나는 공허함과 세밀한 技法은 오늘날 美國의 Pop artist나 Hyper reaIist들에게 다소 영향을 끼쳤음을 알 수 있다.;The fine arts of today is experiencing incessant changes in search of new language. America plays a major role in New art that the situation of American art is the concern of many people. In case of American painting the stream of realism is so strong that it will not be engulfed by modernism. In this flow Andraw Wyeth, sticking to American tradition of vastness, holds an unshakable position in American painting history. This shows the he seems to have opened the possibility of fine arts in harmony with popular arts. Nowadays increasing number of people gets intersted in his peculiar realism and expression method and becomes to love his painting. The purpose of this study lies in clarifying Andrw Wyetht's influence to modern art ef America by studying his realism and methods of expression and analyzing his works which are divided into two by environmental factors. This study consist mainly of two parts, his Life and his works. For the one, I examined his growth in the artist family and his artistic background. For the other, I studied the flow of American realism and Andrew Wyeth's own realism, his father N.C.Wyeth's influence to him, his peculiar methods such as pencil, water color, dry brush and tempera. I also analyzed his works which are divided into Kuerners and Olsons by environmental factors. 1 enquired into his influence to the modern art of America. The methods used in this study is centered on book-fesearch. The books comprise Wyetht's anthologies, art histories of America and aesthetics. For the choice of works, I divided his paintings into two groups and selected typical paintings from each. The conclusion of this study is as follows. Andrew Wyetht's world of painting is not formed by ism or trend of times but by his personal art study from his father and simple life which he has pursued. He succeeded as apainter by solving technical problems which generally are disregarded by many othar painters. Andrew Wyeth also succeeded in lifting illustration to the position of fine arts which his father N.C.Wyeth, who suffered between illustration and fine arts, failed. His minute technique and impression of vastness shows his influence to pop artists and hyper realists of America.
