청각기억훈련을 통한 학습부진아의 단기 기억력 향상에 관한 연구

Abstract

Memory is a very important part of learning. Improving the memory is related to maximizing the effects of learning. With regard to learning, schools have recently been making efforts to solve the causes and problems of learning disability with the increasing interest in children with learning disability. The causes of learning disability can be considered in many aspects. Of these, some cognitive causes include low intelligence, low attention and memory, and language deficiency. And they are skills which are closely related to learning. The purpose of this study is to improving the short-term memory of children with learning disability by auditory memory activities. A total of six group activities and ten individual activities were conducted twice a week for eight weeks on three fifth graders with learning disability. The group and individual activities were carried out alternately, with a group session lasting sixty minutes and an individual session lasting thirty minutes. Individual activities focused on memorizing melodies and consisted of listening to a melody and singing the notes by memory, playing it with an instrument, and accompanying the melody. Group activities mainly focused on memorizing rhythm and paying attention and consisted of playing an instrument according to the researcher's instructions, playing an instrument according to his/her turn, and playing rhythms using percussion instruments. In addition, a word memory test and a music memory test were used as a pre-test and post-test to compare the children's short-term memory before and after the auditory memory activities. The music memory test is divided into memorizing melody and rhythm. The results of this study were as follows. First, the word memory post-test showed that the number of words that were memorized increased after auditory memory activities consisting of melody and rhythm. Second, the music memory post-test showed that the memory of melody and rhythm improved. These results will be used for teaching children with learning disability in schools. Also, The study of effective application plan is needed.;기억은 학습활동에 있어서 매우 중요한 과정이다. 따라서 기억을 증진시키는 일은 학습의 효과를 극대화시키는 일과 관련되며 학습에 반드시 필요한 기능이기도 하다. 이러한 학습과 관련하여 최근 학교현장에서는 학습부진아에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 학습부진의 원인과 문제점을 해결하기 위한 방안을 세우기 위해 노력하고 있다. 학습부진의 원인은 다양한 각도에서 찾아볼 수 있는데, 그 중 인지적 원인으로는 낮은 지능, 낮은 주의집중력과 기억력, 언어능력의 결함 등이 있으며 이는 학습과 매우 밀접한 관계가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 음악을 사용한 청각기억훈련이 학습부진아의 단기기억력 향상에 미치는 영향에 대해 연구하였다. 연구 참여자는 초등학교 5학년 학습부진 아동 세 명으로 한 주에 그룹과 개인 청각기억훈련이 1회씩 진행되었으며 그룹 및 개인 청각기억훈련 1회의 진행시간은 각각 60분과 30분이었다. 개인 청각기억훈련은 가락 기억을 위주로 하였으며 가락을 듣고 외워서 계이름으로 따라부르거나 악기로 연주하기, 반주하기 등의 활동으로 구성하였다. 그룹 청각기억훈련은 주로 리듬 기억과 주의집중을 위주로 하였으며 연구자의 지시에 따라 연주하거나 자기 차례를 외워서 연주하기, 타악기를 사용한 리듬 연주 등의 활동으로 구성하였다. 또한 청각기억훈련의 사전, 사후 검사로서 대상 아동의 단기기억력을 비교하기 위해 단어기억과제와 음악적 기억 과제를 사용하였는데 음악적 기억 과제는 가락 기억과 리듬 기억으로 구성하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 첫째, 가락과 리듬을 중심으로 한 청각기억훈련이 단어기억과제 사후 검사 결과 기억단어의 수를 증가시켰다. 이는 구조화된 멜로디 또는 리듬이 단기적인 기억과정에 도움을 준다는 선행연구와 일치하는 결과이다. 둘째, 음악적 기억과제에서는 사전 검사와 비교하여 사후 검사에서 가락과 리듬 기억력의 향상을 보였다. 이는 음악의 멜로디와 리듬이 정신지체 아동의 기억을 향상시켰다는 선행 연구와 부합된다. 이와같이 음악을 사용한 청각기억훈련이 학습부진아의 단기기억력에 향상을 가져온다는 결과는 학교 현장에서의 학습부진아 지도에 있어 활용될 수 있으며, 효과적인 활용 방안에 대한 지속적인 연구가 필요하다고 하겠다.
