한국 남성복의 변천에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 1945년 해방 이후부터 남성복에 있어서 양복의 변천과정을 시대적 배경과 관련하여 고찰하였다. 1945년 이 전의 남성복의 변천과 1945년 이후의 시대적 배경에 대하여서는 기존 연구자료에 의존하여 분석하였고 1945년 이후의 남성복의 변천에 대하여서는 신문과 잡지의 기사, 잡지의 화보 및 장고 그리고 관련된 연구자료를 사용하였다. 남성복의 변천을 양복유형의 수용 및 발달과정에 따라 양복의 대중화기(1945년-1960년), 발전기(1951년-1974년), 기성복의 성장기(1975년-1955년), 기성복의 다양화기(1986년-1990년)로 나누어 고찰해 본 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 양복의 대중화기(1945년-1960년)에는 해방과 6.25전쟁으로 미국의 영향을 많이 받았으며 마카오양복과 내추럴 룩이 유행하였다. 양복이 소수 특정인으로부터 대중에게 확산되어간 시기이다. 2. 양복의 발전기(1901년-1974년)에는 생활의 합리화와 간소화를 강조하는 가운데 '재건복'이 등장하였고 유럽형의 컨티넨탈 룩이 유행하였다. '남성복 패션쇼의 개최와 스타일 한국 청자선'의 재정으로 단순한 모방에 의한 양복 스타일에서 탈피하여 한국적인 것을 추구하고자 한 시기이다. 3. 기성복의 성장기(1975년-1985년)에는 전후세대와 신세대의 등장에 의해서 영 패션이 급성장하였고 다양한 특성 을 지닌 전문 기성복 브랜드가 등장하였다. 전반적으로는 이 시기 초기에 유행했던 볼드 룩이 퇴조하는 듯하다가 후반에 오면서 다시 부활하였으나 획일적인 유행은 점차 사라지게 되었다. 4. 기성복의 다양화기(1986년-1990년)는 본격화된 기성복 브랜드가 가치관과 생활양식의 다양화를 통해 더욱 세분화되기 시작한 시기로서 남성복도 코디네이트를 통한 토탈패션이 유행하게 되었고 남성의 여성화 현상이 뚜렷해진 시기였다. 이상의 남성복의 변천에 관한 연구결과를 종합해 보면 양복은 도입초기의 일제에 의한 강제적 착용에 대한 저항과 반발에도 불구하고 소수 상류층에 의해 착용되기 시작하였다. 해방 후 경제의 성장, 발달과 함께 양복의 기능성과 편의성을 인식하게 되면서 양복착용자의 수는 점차 증가하여 오늘날은 한국 남성들의 복식으로 완전히 정착되었다. 남성들의 취향이 개성화, 다양화되면서 양복은 더욱 세분화되었고, 남성들에게도 패션 문화가 정착되어 가고 있음을 알 수 있다.;The purpose of this study is to present the transition of Korean men's costume focusing on the western style clothes since 1945. This study is based upon the analysis of articles, photos and advertisements in newspapers and magazines, and some other references on this theme. The changing process of men's costume was divided into 4 stages as follows: 1. In the popularization stage of western style(1945-1960), Korean society was much affected by America, after Liberation and prevailed, and western style was spread out from a particular group of persons to the public in general. 2. In the developing stage of western style(1961-1974), 'Reconstruction Wear' and 'Continental Look' appeared. Rationalization and simplification of life influenced on this. It was in this period that fashion shows for men's wear were first held and 'Style Han-kook Cheong-ja-seon' was established, which symbolizes the attempt to overcome the imitation of western style and pursue unique Korean style. 3. In the growth stage of ready-made clothes(1975-1985), 'Young Fashion' grew up rapidly along with the appearance of postwar generation and new generation, and specialized ready-made brands with various characteristics appeared. Generally 'Bold Look' which had been prevailing in the earlier part of this period seemed to fade out, but revived in the later. Yet, uniform vogue gradually disappeared. 4. In the diversity stage(1985-1990), ready-made brands were subdivided through diversity of view of life and life-style. Also in men's costume total fashion with co-ordination came into vogue and men's androgynous tendency was distinguished. As results of this study, I can safely maintain that western style has settled down completely as Korean men's costume and subdivided brands have been born, as men's taste become individualized and varied. So today we can assent that 'fashion culture' is settling down for men as well.
