시청각 자료가 영어과 학습형성에 미치는 효과

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of audiovisual aids on the English Learning process. By discovering exactly what the effects of the audiovisual aids are, we can hope to design instruction to maximize the impact of these effects on the learning process. Audiovisual education provided the theoretical basis for this study. The hypothesis was that audiovisual aids would enhance teaming English. An experiment was designed to test the effect of audiovisual aids in instruction. The aids used for the experiment consisted of flat visual aids (a flannel board and word cards, charts, picture cards) and auditory aids (ready-made cassette tapes). Two classes of the first grade in a middle school were divided into the experimental class and the control class. Exactly the same procedures were employed in both classes. The experiment differed only with regard to the audiovisual aids. The experiments were conducted during regularly scheduled class meetings from March 2nd to October 15th, 1988. To verify the students' achievements, two written examinations and a listening comprehension test were analyzed by t-test at the Computer Research Center, Ewha Womans University. Questionnaires given to the students were analyzed by percentage. The difference between the experimental class and the control class was statistically significant. It can be assumed that audiovisual aids made a difference in students' achievements. This study reveals that appropriate audiovisual aids can heighten the students' interest and cause the students to pay closer attention to the English learning.;본 연구의 목적은 영어학습에 간이 시각자료인 융판과 단어카드, 괘도, 그림카드, 청각자료인 녹음테이프를 사용하여 어떠한 효과가 있는가를 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 이론적 배경을 중심으로 가설 형성의 근거를 제시했고, 형성된 가설을 검증하기 위해 실험자료를 구성하였다. 실험자료의 구성 절차는 중학교 1학년의 교과서를 단원별로 분석하고, 이에 따라 교실에서 활용할 수 있는 간편하고 경제적인 간이 시각자료를 구입 또는 제작하였으며 녹음테이프는 시중에서 제작된 것을 사용하였다. 실험을 위해서 중학교 1학년 2학급을 각각 비교반과 실험반으로 설정하였다. 실험은 1988년 3월 2일부터 1988년 10월 15일까지 진행되었고 두 집단은 같은 학습내용을 시청각자료만 제외하고 동일한 조건으로 학습하였다. 학습효과의 측정도구는 4월 학력고사, 9월 학력고사, 10월 듣기평가로 하였으며, 측정결과는 이화여자대학교 전자계산연구소에서 SPSS를 통해 전산통계 처리하였다. 측정도구의 결과에서 나온 자료는 t-test방법으로 검정하였다. 실험전과 실험후에 각각 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 설문지의 응답내용은 각 항목에 대한 일반적인 경향을 밝히기 위해 백분률로 분석하였다. 연구 결과 시청각자료는 영어입문기 학생들의 흥미를 유발하고 학력향상에 도움이 되는 것이 입증되었다.
