Abstract

우리나라 교육과정에 명시된 영어과 교육목표인 듣기, 말하기, 읽기, 쓰기의 능력을 조화롭고 균형있게 발전시키기 위해서는 교재나 교수법 이외에 올바른 평가방법이 요구되고 있다. 평가와 학습은 불가분의 관계에 있으므로 평가의 목표는 곧 학습의 목표라 할 수 있다. 영어과 학습목표는 국가적 차원에서 정부가 수립하는 언어정책을 바탕으로 하며 이 언어정책은 우리나라 교육정책 내지는 교육이념과 연계성을 갖는다. 그러므로 평가에 대한 분석은 효과적인 영어교육을 위하여 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 첫째, 교육평가와 영어평가에 대한 이론·목적·방법을 문헌연구를 통하여 연구·검토하고 둘째로, 고등학교 입학 연합고사 문제지를 분석하여 영역별 및 요소별로 분석하고 우리나라 교육과정에 제시된 영어과 목표에 비추어 수험자의 능력이 어떻게 측정되었는 가를 살펴보고 문항 구성상의 문제점들을 지적하여 끝으로 그 개선방향을 제시하려는 것이다. 종래 우리나라에서의 영어의 평가는 바로 독해력과 문법의 평가를 의미했고 말하기가 강조된 이후도 말하기의 평가는 paper and pencil test에 그쳤었다. 그러나 영어를 잘 한다는 것을 듣기, 말하기, 읽기, 쓰기의 네 기능을 고루 잘 한다는 뜻이며 교육과정이 명시하고 있는 영어교육의 방향이 "네 기능의 고른 발달"이라면, 영어의 평가는 네 기능에 걸쳐 시행되어야 마땅하다. 따라서 네가지 기능을 (이후원문누락);To develop the ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing harmoniously, which are English educational goals displayed in educational curriculum, we need proper English testing as well as teaching materials and teaching methods. Teaching and learning are inseparable from each other, so the goal of testing is that of learning in some sense. The goal of English is based on the language policy which the government establishes on the national viewpoint and this language policy has something to do with educational idea or educational policy. Thus the analysis of the testing is important for the effective English education. The goals of this study are as follows: 1. To overview the theory, purposes and ways of educational tasting and English testing through the study of literature. 2. To analize the items of the entrance examination for high schools, to search for how they can be tested in view of English goals of educational curriculum and to find out the problems on the item formation. 3. To suggest the improvements. So far, English testing has meant the testing of grammar and reading comprehension and even though speaking is emphasized, testing of speaking ability is performed in form of paper and pencil test. But to have English at one's fingers' ends means to be good at four stills, listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Because the English education of educational curriculum is towards "the harmonious development of four skills," English testing must contain items on these four skills. Through studying and developing the testing way about listening ability and speaking ability, we must test production as well as recognition. In addition, we must solve various problems on item formation and turn the item type from subjective to objective. Thug when the English educational goals agree with the testing way, we will be sure to see normal English education.
