초등교사의 체육교과전담제에 관한 인식조사연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 현재 초등학교에서 적용하고 있는 체육교과전담제의 운영실태 및 문제점을 파악하고 분석하여 일선 학교에서의 체육교과전담제 활성화에 기여할 수 있는 기초 자료를 제시하고 앞으로 합리적이고 효율적 운영을 위한 개선방안을 제시하고자 함에 있다. 이와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위하여 서울시에 소재하고 있는 초등학교의 교사 200명의 연구대상 중 최종 설문지의 회수부수는 167부가 사용되었다. 연구의 설문지는 전체적인 교과전담제 운영실태에 관한 문항 8개, 체육교과전담제 운영실태에 관한 문항 8개, 체육교과전담제운영의 개선방안에 관한 문항 11개를 포함하여 총 27개 문항으로 구성하였다. 자료분석을 위한 주요 통계 기법은 SPSS프로그램을 사용하였고 일반특성 변수로 성, 체육전담교사의 유무에 따른 인식간 연관성이 존재하는가를 규명하기 위하여 χ²검증을 실시하였다. 이상의 연구방법과 절차를 통하여 제시된 연구결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 1. 교과전담제의 운영실태 ① 교과전담제의 초등교육 질적향상에 많은 도움이 되고 있으며 교과전담제가 실시되고 있는 학교일수록 교과전담제의 필요성을 많이 느끼고 있다고 응답했다. 그 필요의 이유로는 교육 전문성 향상과 아동의 학업향상을 지적하고 있다. ② 효율적인 교과전담제 운영방법으로는 예체능등의 부분교과전담제의 실시를 원하고 있으며 체육전담교사가 없는 학교의 응답이 높았다. 2. 체육교과전담제의 운영실태 ① 체육교과전담제와 교직의 전문성제고에 대해 도움이 많이 된다 는 응답이 많이 나타났으며, 초등체육의 질적향상에 대해서도 도움이 많이 된다는 응답이 두드러졌다. ② 체육교과전담제 실시후에 교사의 수업부담이 많이 감소되었으며, 학생들의 학업성취도에 대해서 크게 향상되었다는 응답이 높게 나타났다. ③ 체육교과전담제를 현재 운영하고 있는 학교는 대체적으로 잘 운영되고 있지만 운영이 되고있지 않은 학교는 체육교과전담제의 낮은 인지도의 문제를 지적하고 있다. 3. 체육교과전담제의 개선방안 ① 초등체육수업의 담당자는 중등2급 정교사자격증을 가진 체육전공자를 선호하고 있다. ② 체육교과전담제의 필요성이 크게 요구되고 있으며 그 이유로는 교직 전문성향상과 교수시간 부담경감을 지적하고 있다. ③ 체육교과전담제 적용학년으로는 3학년 이상, 전학년대상의 응답이 지배적이었다. ④ 체육전담교사의 적정 수업시수는 주당 14~16시간의 응답이 높았으며, 체육전담교사가 겪는 문제는 과다 수업시간과 시설 및 용구의 부족을 지적하고 있다. ⑤ 체육전담교사의 양성방안으로 체육교육의 전공자와 교육대학원에서의 교육을 제시하고 있으며, 체육교과전담제 실시시 우선되어야 할 사항으로는 체육전담교사의 양성과 체육전담교사의 처후개선을 지적하고 있다. 본 연구의 내용으로 보아 체육교과전담제는 초등체육교육의 질적인향상과 교직의 전문성을 위해 중요한 의미가 있으며, 체육교과전담제가 확고한 위치를 정립하기 위해서는 체육 전담교사의 근무조건과 질높은 체육수업을 위한 장소나 교구의 투자, 유능한 체육전담교사의 양성이 요구되어진다. ; The principal aim of this study was to investigate and analyze the actual conditions of managing specialized teaching system in the elementary school physical education in Seoul City, present basic data that can contribute to the activation of the system, and identify problems to provide plans for improving it for the reasonable and effective management of it in the future. The subjects were randomly sampled 167 physical education teachers at the elementary schools that carried out specialized teaching system in Seoul City, and then each 10 teachers were selected from each school for final analysis. As a research instrument, one questionnaire used for one previous study was reconstructed in accordance with this research s aim to measure and code the reliability, Statistical data were processed through SPSS program into frequency; problems in managing specialized teaching system and plans for improving it were analyzed by gender and the presence of specialized teacher, and the statistical significance was estimated by using χ²-test. And the findings of this data analysis and research were as follows: First, specialized teaching system in physical education ha improved teaching professionalism, decreased excessive tasks, and also improved students, achievements, so spreading and expanding the system is desirable. Second, competent teachers should be assigned to the parallel training subject for practical and technical skills focused on artistic and physical aptitudes. Third, cultivation of teachers specialized in physical education is demanded; that is, teachers qualified for secondary school physical education and with practical skills are fit for specialized teaching; rewards such as reduction of teaching hours and increase of teaching staff are demanded. Fourth, independent spaced for physical education and the support of school district are necessary for expanding specialized teaching system. Consequently speaking, the necessity of executing specialized teaching system is very urgent for improving the quality of elementary school physical education and teachers professionalism. If the working conditions are improved and independent spaces for physical education and the support of school district are provided, specialized teaching system will be secured well in physical education.
