음악치료사의 인턴쉽 경험에 대한 현상학적 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 음악치료사가 석사학위 과정에서 인턴 쉽 을 이수하는 동안 어떠한 경험을 하는지에 대해 살펴보는 것이다. 연구 참여자들은 음악치료 인턴 쉽 을 이수한 6명의 음악치료사들로 성별은 모두 여성이며 나이는 평균 28세(최소 만 27세, 최대 만 29세)였다. 학부전공은 참여자들 모두 음악관련 전공이었으며 6명 중 3명은 석사학위 수료자였고 3명은 석사학위 소지자였다. 음악치료 임상경력은 임상 실습을 포함하여 평균 3.1년(최소 2년 9개월, 최대 4년)이었다. 이들은 각각 대학부설 클리닉, 치료센터, 성인 정신과 병동, 호스피스 병동, 복지관 등에서 6개월 동안 인턴 근무를 하였으며 각 기관에 따라 임상 훈련의 세팅 및 형태가 다양하였다. 연구자는 음악치료 인턴 쉽 경험과 관련된 내용으로 한 회기의 예비 면담을 거쳐 최종 질문지를 확정한 후에 6명의 참여자들을 대상을 심층 면담을 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 Giorgio의 분석 절차에 따라 분석되었다. 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. (1) 인턴 쉽 에 대한 양가감정, (2) 어려움과 소진, (3) 어려움 극복의 동인, (4) 성장 경험으로 총 4개의 구성요소가 도출 되었다. 인턴 쉽 을 이수하는 과정에서 참여자들은 인턴 쉽 에 대한 기대와 부담 그리고 훈련 환경에 대한 만족과 불만족이라는 양가감정을 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 참여자들의 어려움과 소진 경험은 인턴 쉽 과정에서의 전반적인 경험과 훈련 기관에 따른 경험으로 살펴볼 수 있었다. 지지적 경험과 자기 성찰 그리고 해결 방안 모색 및 시도는 어려움 극복의 동인으로 작용하였으며, 참여자들은 인턴 쉽 을 이수하는 동안 점차 전문 인으로 서 와 한 개인으로서의 성장을 인식하게 되었다. 이러한 결과는 음악치료사가 인턴 쉽 을 이수하는 동안 시간적 맥락과 직면한 환경 및 상황에 따라 다양하고 역동적인 경험을 하는 것을 보여주며, 이를 통해 인턴 쉽 과정에서 치료사의 변화와 성장 과정을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 음악치료사의 관점에서 지각되는 인턴 쉽 경험에 대한 이해는 치료사로서 자신의 경험을 통찰할 수 있는 기회를 제공하여 자기 인식 및 성장에 도움을 줄 수 있다. 또한 본 연구는 국내에서 거의 다루어지지 않았던 음악치료사의 인턴 쉽 경험에 초점을 맞추고 수행되었다는 점에서 향후 연구를 위한 발판으로서의 의의를 가진다. 아울러 본 연구의 결과가 음악치료 인턴 쉽 의 중요성에 대한 인식을 높이고 전문 음악치료사의 양성을 위한 교육과 훈련에 있어 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있으리라 기대 한다.;The major purpose of this study is to investigate into what music therapists in general experience in the period of an internship necessary for a Master’s Degree in that area. Participants in this study were 6 music therapists who completed an internship of music therapy; half of them already completed a Master’s Degree in music therapy and the rest held an Internship Certificate in music therapy. All of them were females, the range of whose age was from 27 to 28, on average 29. Their major in undergraduate was all music-related; the period of their clinical work experience, including clinical practical training, ranged from 31 months to 48 months, on average 3.1 years. They performed an internship of 6 months in various places such as a clinic center affiliated with a university, a department of psychiatry for adults, of hospice, a community relief center, etc; each of them worked in a different place where there were different settings and clinical forms for the clinical training. The researcher made a questionnaire for the 6 participants about what they experienced in the internship period as a kind of preparatory consultation with them, and carried out a face-to-face talk in depth with each of them to collect as accurate information as possible about what they experienced, and the information accumulated was analyzed according to the procedure of Giorigi analysis method. The results of what I analyzed the information on what they experienced in the internship period are as follows: (1) Though they started an internship with both an expectation and anxiety about getting some specialty as a music therapist, what they felt for the first time abut professionalism in that field was different among them, in respect of what kind of place they were assigned to work, (2) Owing to unendingly consecutive sessions and administrative duties along with their not being prepared well for leading a session, they experienced being skeptical and anxious. When they worked in a setting not related to music, they easily became lethargic and confused by the matter of identity as a music therapist, (3) Teachers in charge of leading an internship were sometimes likely to sympathize with what the participants struggled with, and they gave some advice to them; moreover, the participants shared with their companies their innermost feelings about the internship. In short, they all got some external supports from people working in each place. (4) What they newly learned in an unfamiliar place improved them in a way that they recognized their strength and weakness as a professional music therapy. With such results of the analysis, it is possible to argue that, in the internship as the last training course for a Master’s Degree in Music Therapy, provisional music therapists experienced what they had or not expected variously and dynamically according to the flow of time and differences of circumstances where they worked, and what is important is that through such experiences the therapists grew up or developed personally. This study is meaningful in the sense that, what happened to provisional music therapists internally during the internship was dealt from a music therapist’s point of view. The understanding of what music therapists experience in an internship countemake prominent the recognition of significance of the internship in music therapy, and could be utilized as a process to provide them with a more effective way of education and training course of music therapy.
