국내 북한이탈 청소년의 사회적응을 위한 미술교육프로그램 모형 연구

Abstract

Globalization has been preceded due to the progress in Information Technology and the changes in political and economic structure. Globalization expands various kinds of cultural exchange as well as any material and human resources between nations, which mean that the whole world becomes one unity -a global village- regardless of time and place. The physical boundaries between nations or local areas got weakened by globalization, and it became easier to be exposed to other races, nations and cultures based on the different local background. However, it also has a negative effect which standardizes the living culture maintained distinctively based on the nations or local areas. Therefore, it is important to preserve each of different cultures and diversity in these days. Korea society, which has been maintained as a racially homogeneous nation, becomes more multicultural community including diverse races and cultures because of those populations who are foreign immigrant employees, women immigrants married in farming and fishing villages, and people escaped from North Korea. These situations show that the multicultural education needs to be fulfilled to accept and understand those people, who will form a non-negligible population in the future. Therefore, I focus on the youth groups especially, who face the difficulties with maladjustment to the social environment among those people escaped from North Korea, who has an explosive increase due to the South-North Korean summit talks in 2000 and the long-term depression in North Korea. It is highly effective to utilize art to understand the multicultural community and adapt into it since those members in the present society organize knowledge by interacting with a number of visual images, not just their own languages. Thus, it is the primary objective that is to develop the model of art education program for the domestic youth escaped from North Korea. The characteristics of the general youth group and those escaped from North Korea are considered, and then the transition process to multicultural society and the concepts and meaning of multicultural art education are examined. In addition, the social adaptation steps for the youth group escaped from North Korea, overall present status, and the caused problems are also studied. In next chapter, there are case studies, which are ‘Writing an illustration-story book in the native language and English’ by Rachel Mason and ‘Postcard-Home’ project by Whitechapel Art Gallery in England where experienced collision between multi-cultures and multi-races and tried to solve with several programs. It also includes the analysis of domestic case studies of on-going cultural art education programs for the youth group escaped from North Korea by hanawon, 34school, gongneung), in2museum. Those issues acquired by these analyses are as following; first, the request from a subject should be exactly defined. Second, the aims should be set up specifically for each subject. Third, the topic which is related to those subjects directly and includes social issues should be selected. Forth, education in language should be combined. Fifth, the programs should be improved by evaluation and continuous after-action plan should be organized. Based on these issues, the model of art education programs for the youth group escaped from North Korea are organized in 5 steps, and the contents are as following; Step 1: Define the degree and request of social adaptation for the youth group escaped from North Korea Step 2: Set up the goals understand society and culture Step 3: Selection of the socially feasible topic and the ways of expression Step 4: Execution of art expression activities (with education in appreciation of contemporary art including social trends and language) Step 5: Evaluation and After-action plan This kind of model will be utilized as the program which helps the domestic youth group escaped from North Korea realize the arts as a tool for social adaptation and understanding cultures, not just for pursuing the beauty, accept their own experience and inherent cultures, and understand Korean cultures. The result of this study is the model of what steps of art education program for social adaptation in multicultural society should be taken. Therefore, it should be followed by development of the actual programs, and the effect and evaluation should be examined.;현대사회는 정보통신기술의 발달과 정치경제구조의 변화로 국가 간의 물적, 인적 자원 및 문화의 교류가 확대되고 있다. 이 같은 세계화의 흐름은 국가와 지역 간의 물리적 경계를 약화시키고 다른 인종과 민족, 지역적 배경이 다른 타문화를 쉽게 접할 수 있도록 하였으나 국가나 지역을 중심으로 독특하게 유지되었던 생활문화를 획일화시키는 부정적인 면도 동시에 가지고 왔다. 따라서 세계화되고 있는 현대사회에서 평화로운 공존을 위해서는 서로 다른 문화의 다양성을 인정하고, 특수성을 지켜 나가기 위한 방한이 마련되어야 한다. 오랫동안 단일민족국가였던 한국사회는 최근 외국인 이주노동자, 농어촌 총각과 결혼한 여성결혼이민자, 북한이탈주민 수의 급격한 증가로 다양한 인종과 문화가 공존하는 다문화 사회로 접어들었다. 그러나 타문화와 타인종에 배타적인 성향을 가진 한국사회에서 이들 대다수가 물질적·정신적으로 부분적응 또는 부적응, 주변화 되고 있다. 향후 한국의 비중 있는 집단을 형성 할 이들이 한국사회에 안정적으로 적응하기 위해서는 자신의 문화와 타인의 문화를 평등하게 인정할 수 있는 다문화 관점에서의 교육이 마련되어야 한다. 이에 본 연구자는 2000년의 남북정상회담과 북한 경제의 장기침체로 그 인구가 폭발적으로 늘어나고 있는 국내 북한이탈주민, 그 중에서도 청소년으로 범위를 좁혀 그들의 현황과 문제점을 파악하고 사회적응을 위한 교육프로그램을 제안 하였다. 현대사회의 구성원은 각국의 언어가 아닌 수많은 시각 이미지와 상호 작용을 하며 지식을 구성해나간다. 때문에 현대사회 즉, 다문화가 공존하는 사회를 이해하고 적응하기 위해서는 시각을 다루는 미술 분야를 활용하는 것이 매우 효과적이다. 미술품은 그 자체로 시대의 사회·문화적 맥락을 담고 있고, 문화적 차이가 생겨난 배경까지도 포함하고 있기 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구는 미술교육을 통해 국내 북한이탈 청소년이 한국사회에 온전한 구성원으로서 자리매김 할 수 있도록 ‘사회적응을 위해 미술교육프로그램 모형’을 개발하였다. 이를 위해 첫 장에서는 북한이탈 청소년의 특성과 사회적응의 개념, 다문화사회에서의 미술교육에 관한 이론적 배경을 살피고, 다음 장에서는 사회적응을 위한 국내외 문화예술관련 교육프로그램 사례를 조사·분석하였다. 이를 토대로 국내 북한이탈 청소년의 사회적응을 위한 미술교육프로그램 모형을 5단계로 구성하였다. 구성은 다음과 같다. 1단계 : 국내 북한이탈 청소년의 사회적응 정도 및 요구 파악 2단계 : 사회·문화 이해를 위한 목표 설정 3단계 : 사회적 실천이 가능한 주제 및 표현방법 선정 4단계 : 미술표현 활동 및 비평적 감상 실행(사회적 맥락을 포함하는 동시대미술품 감상 교육과 언어교육 병행) 5단계 : 평가 및 사후계획 본 연구의 결과는 다문화 사회에서의 사회적응을 위한 미술교육프로그램이 어떠한 접근 과정을 거쳐야 하는가에 대한 초기모형이다. 따라서 후속 연구들을 통하여 실제 프로그램을 개발·적용하고 그 효과를 바탕으로 보다 세부적 모형 개발이 연구되어져야 할 것이다.
