초등학생의 체육 · 무용 특기적성 교육에 대한 인식도 조사연구

Abstract

본 연구는 초등학교에서 실시되고 있는 체육ㆍ무용 특기적성 교육활동에 대한 학생들의 인식 정도를 체계적으로 분석하여 체육ㆍ무용교육의 활성화 방안을 마련하고, 더 나아가 ‘학교 특기ㆍ적성 교육’의 발전적인 기초 자료를 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 체육ㆍ무용 특기적성 교육활동의 인식 정도를 활동종류와 학년에 따라 살펴보기 위하여 경기도 지역에 소재한 초등학교 32곳의 학생 총 384명을 대상으로 조사하였다. 설문지는 연구자가 특기ㆍ적성 교육과 관련된 문헌 및 이규현(1999), 공현성(2001), 방제철(2003)의 설문지 문항을 기초로 하여 면밀히 검토ㆍ분석한 후 사용하였으며, 작성된 설문 문항은 인구사회학적 특성, 체육ㆍ무용 특기적성 교육에 관한 일반적 사항 및 운영현황, 개선방안으로 구성되어 있다. 자료분석은 체육ㆍ무용 특기적성 교육활동의 일반적 사항 및 개선방안, 운영현황에 대한 인식을 활동종류와 학년에 따라 살펴보기 위하여 T-검정 및 교차분석, 분산분석(ANOVA)을 사용하였다. 이와 같은 절차를 통하여 얻어진 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 체육ㆍ무용 특기적성 교육활동의 일반적 사항 중 특기ㆍ적성 교육 활동의 필요성 및 목적, 참여동기, 만족도, 지속적인 실시, 활동종류, 사설 기관 참여여부에 대한 학생들의 인식 정도는 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 영역별로 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 먼저 특기ㆍ적성 교육활동의 필요성에 대해 체육활동에 참여하고 있는 학생은 체육ㆍ무용수업 시간의 부족으로, 무용활동에 참여하고 있는 학생은 체육ㆍ무용활동의 다양성을 위해 특기ㆍ적성 교육활동이 필요하다고 보았고, 목적에 대해서는 체육활동에 참여하고 있는 학생은 건강 증진을 위해서, 무용활동에 참여하고 있는 학생은 미래의 직업선택에 도움이 되기 위해서라고 응답하였다. 참여 동기에 대해서는 체육활동에 참여하고 있는 학생은 체육ㆍ무용을 원해서, 무용활동에 참여하고 있는 학생은 체형 관리에 있다고 응답하였으며, 만족도는 체육활동에 참여하고 있는 학생은 만족하는 것으로, 무용활동에 참여하고 있는 학생은 시설 및 도구수준을 제외한 요인에서 만족하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 학생들이 가장 좋아하는 종목을 살펴보면 체육 활동에 참여하고 있는 학생은 축구를, 무용활동에 참여하고 있는 학생은 째즈댄스를 가장 선호한다고 하였으며, 사설기관의 참여여부에 대해서는 체육 및 무용활동에 참여하고 있는 학생 모두 참여하지 않겠다고 응답하였다. 따라서 학교는 특기ㆍ적성 교육활동에 대한 지속적인 관심과 연구를 통해 학생들의 요구를 충족시켜야 하며, 다양한 프로그램 및 특기ㆍ적성 교육활동의 전문적인 연구를 통한 학습자 중심의 교육으로 전환해야 할 것이다. 둘째, 학생들의 체육ㆍ무용 특기적성 교육활동의 운영현황에 대한 인식도를 알아본 결과 교육과정(프로그램)과 지도교사, 시설 및 도구 수준에 대해서는 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였으나 교육효과에 대해서는 비슷한 반응을 보였다. 따라서 특기ㆍ적성 교육활동을 위한 시설 및 도구의 양과 질, 지역사회의 시설 이용, 재정적 지원, 학습 분위기 및 수업환경에 관한 시급한 해결책이 모색되어야 할 것이다. 셋째, 체육활동에 참여하고 있는 학생은 체육ㆍ무용 특기적성 교육활동의 문제점을 학생들의 참여의식 부족으로 보았고, 특기ㆍ적성 교육활동의 활성화를 위해서는 학생들의 적극적인 관심이 필요하다고 응답한 반면 무용활동에 참여하고 있는 학생은 시설 및 기구의 부족이 가장 큰 문제점이라고 보았다. 이를 해결하기 위해서는 학교 시설 및 기구의 확충이 필요하며 학생들의 특기 신장의 교육 기회 제공과 열린교육 차원의 학생 중심 교육에 초점을 두어 바람직한 방향으로 개선해 나가야 할 것이다. 이상의 결과를 바탕으로 체육ㆍ무용 특기적성 교육활동의 문제점을 파악하고 개선할 수 있는 구체적 방안을 모색하여 학생들이 흥미를 갖고 지속적으로 참여할 수 있도록 유도해야 할 것이다.;The purpose of this study is to systematically analyze elementary students' perception of the special educational programs on sports and dance and thereby, provide for some basic data useful to development of 'the elementary special skill and aptitude programs'. For this purpose, 374 children attending 32 elementary schools in Kyonggi-do were sampled to be subject to a questionnaire survey. The questionnaire was developed by referring to the literature and preceding studies about the special skill and aptitude education. It consisted of the items about demographic variables, perception of sports and dance education programs and ideas for their development. The collected data were processed statistically for cross analysis, ANOVA and T-test. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; First, there was found some significant difference of elementary students' perception of the special education programs in terms of need, purpose, motivation, satisfaction, continuity, types and private tutoring. So, it is deemed required of the elementary school authority to establish a cooperative system among teachers/staff and administrators and thereby, meet students' needs through continued concern and research. Second, there was found some significant difference of elementary students' perception of the special education programs in terms of their operation. Therefore, it is deemed necessary to survey students' perception of the special education programs more correctly and thereupon, improve them in terms of school facilities and equipments, use of community facilities, financial subsidies, educational atmosphere and classroom environment. Third, there was found some significant difference of elementary students' perception of the special education programs in terms of their improvement. So, it is required of the school authority to improve the special education programs in such a way that students may be given equal opportunities for special education.
