Abstract
In recent years, considerable progress has been made in understanding multiparticle production through study of two-particle rapidity correlation. Here, results from a study of p p-N interactions in emulsion at an energy of 28GeV are presented. The analysis of the data with the two-particle rapidity correlation function C(Y₁, Y₂), R( Y₁, Y₂ ) show clear evidence of short-range correlations in the central region. Rapidity correlations in the central region among hadrons produced in p-N interaction of fixed final state multiplicity n are investigated in a two-step frame-work in which clusters of hadrons are produced essentially independently, via a multiperipheral cluster model, and decay isotropically.
