- Abstract
In this paper we prove the following theorems :
a) We approximate the Hypergeometric probabilities with the probabilities of the Binomial distribution whenever n is large.
b) We approximate the Binomial probabilities with the probabilities of the Poisson distribution whenever n is large and p is small.
c) We approximate the Binomial probabilities with the probabilities of the Normal distribution when n approches to ∞.
d) We approximate the Poisson probabilities with the probabilities of the Normal distribution when n approches to ∞.
e) Let X_(1), X_(2)....... X_(n) denote a random sample of size n from a distribution which is N(μ, σ^(2)), the random variable ◁수식 삽입▷(원문을 참조하세요) has a chi-souare distribution with n degrees of freedom.
f) If U is normally distribution with N(0, 1) and V^(2) has a x^(2) distribution with n degree of freedom, and if U and V are independently distributed, then the variable t = u√n/v has student's t - distribution with n degrees of freedom given by f(t) = C(l+t^(2)/n)^(-n+1/2)
g) If X^(2)m and x^(2)n possess independent x² distributions with m and n degrees of freedom, respectively, then F = (X^(2) m/m)/(X^(2) m/n) has the distribution with m and n degrees of freedom by f(F) = CF^(m-2/2) (n+mF)^(-m+n/2)
From the above theorems we have the following diagram among various distributions.
