Prediction Resale Price of Sneakers Using Machine Learning

Abstract

Recently, the resale market for limited-edition sneakers has been growing, especially among Generation MZ. Shoe reselling is emerging as a new way to make money because it requires little capital investment and offers stability, but it does not guarantee a profit. In this paper, we use real-world transaction data from the US Stock X site to predict future prices in the resale market. We use machine learning methods to predict the resale premium price and evaluate the performance of the models. Additionally, we visualize the predicted and actual values for each product line to evaluate the performance of the models. We perform hyperparameter tuning on the three best-performing models and identify the key variables that affect the premium price through a graph that shows variable importance.;최근 MZ 세대를 중심으로 한정판 스니커즈의 리셀 시장이 점점 성장하고 있다. 신발 리셀은 적은 자본 투자와 안정성을 제공하기 때문에 새로운 재테크 방식으로 부상하고 있으나, 이것은 수익을 무조건 보장하지 않는다. 본 연구는 스니커즈 리셀 시장에서 미래 가격을 예측하기 위해 미국 StockX 사이트의 실제 거래 데이터를 활용하였다. 머신러닝 기법을 활용하여 신발 리셀 프리미엄 가격 예측 모델링을 수행하였으며, 다양한 모델 간의 성능을 비교하였다. 더불어, 각 상품 라인별로 예측값과 실제값을 시각화하여 모델의 성능을 평가하였다. 일곱 가지 모델 중 성능이 좋은 세 모델에 대해 하이퍼파라미터 튜닝을 진행하고, 변수 중요도를 나타내는 그래프를 통해 프리미엄 가격에 영향을 미치는 주요 변수들을 확인하였다.
