Doing Experiments with the Science Book Series, “Magic School Bus”

Abstract

Purpose: For students to build scientific knowledge through reading “The Magic School Bus” book series, based on content-based instruction (CBI). This book will focus on science because students are motivated to learn when they realize that their language use is relevant. In addition, through the activities included in this book, students can learn English effectively without anxiety. This textbook is composed of cooperative and communicative language learning activities. Target learners: Ten 4th grade elementary school students. They have been learning English at a private English institute for four years. Classes last two hours on weekdays. Proficiency: Level 3 developing according to WIDA Proficiency Guidelines.
