무용작품 「나를 찾아서」에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 2017년 12월 6일 이화여자대학교 홀 1에서 발표한 무용작품「나를 찾아서」(2017)의 창작과정 및 주제의 구상단계에서 공연까지의 과정을 구체적으로 분석하고 연구한 논문이다. 본 작품에서는 현대사회에서 새롭게 대두되는 사회적 문제 중 하나인‘관계중독’에 대한 극복방안으로 자아 정체성 확립을 제시하였다. 이러한 논의를 위해 본 고에서는 연구의 목적과 필요성, 연구방법 및 제한점을 밝히고 작품의 핵심개념인‘관계중독 현상’에 대한 이론적 기초를 제공함으로써 작품을 해석하기 위한 기반을 마련하였다. 무용작품「나를 찾아서」의 창작과정은 정체성을 잃고 타인을 의식하며 살아가는 삶을 성찰하며 시작된다. 안무자는 자신이 원하지 않음에도 불구하고 타인에게 인정받기 위해 관계를 유지하는 상황을 반복하면서 개인의 주체성이 상실된다고 보고 수많은 관계 맺음에 있어서 개인이 지녀야 할 독립된 자아에 대한 중요성을 예술작품으로 형상화하고자 하였다. 1장에서는 관계중독 현상을 겪는 사람들의 대표적인 특징인‘중독’과‘집착’의 행동을 오브제를 활용한 동작으로 구성하여 잘못된 관계일지라도 벗어나지 못하는 괴로움을 드러내었다. 2장은 타인에게 의존하면서 점차 소실되는‘나’의 자아, 그리고 관계를 맺을수록 겪게 되는 공허함과 외로움을 표현하였다. 마지막 장인 3장에서는 타인에게서 벗어나 진정한 자아를 발견하기 위해‘나’를 찾아가는 과정을 나타내었고 이는 안무자가 본 작품을 통해 강조하여 전달하고자 하는 주제이기도 하다. 결과적으로 안무자는 무용작품「나를 찾아서」를 통해 진정한 자아를 발견하여 올바른 관계를 형성함으로써 건강한 삶을 살아갈 수 있기를 희망한다. 또한 본 연구를 통해 안무자는 전달하고자 하는 주제를 시각적으로 형상화하고 예술적 의미를 구체화하면서 안무자 본인의 예술적 세계를 확장시킬 수 있었다는 것에 의의를 둔다. ;This thesis has analyzed and studied in detail the process of creation, the stage of planning of the theme, and the conclusion of the dance work 「In Search of Me」presented on December 7 2017 at Ewha Womans University Hall 1. This study suggested the establishment of self identity as a measure to overcome ‘relationship addiction’, one of the newly rising problems in the contemporary society. To discuss about this, the thesis revealed the purpose and necessity of the study, as well as its methodology and limitations. Moreover, by providing the theoretical basis of‘relationship addiction’, it offered a foundation for choreographing the work. The intention of the choreography in the dance work 「In Search of Me」 starts by reflecting on life lived by losing one’s identity and being conscious of others. The choreographer attributed the loss of individuals’ identity to the behavioral pattern of maintaining the relationships that one does not desire in order to get acknowledged by others, and attempted to represent the importance of independent self when forming numerous relationships through an artwork. In chapter 1, movements using objects composed the acts of ‘addiction’ and ‘obsession’ which are the representative features of people experiencing relationship addiction, and thereby the pain of not being able to break harmful relationships was depicted. Chapter 2 depicted the gradually diminishing self as one depends on others, as well as the side effect of the relationship addiction involving the existence of the self rather being denied due to the relationships that one has formed hoping to get it confirmed. Finally, chapter 3 depicted the process discovering the real self rather than the self that exists within the relationships with others, and this is the very theme that the choreographer is intending convey through the work. In conclusion, the choreographer hopes to discover the real self through the dance work 「In Search of Me」 and thereby live a healthy life. In addition, it is significant in a sense that it allowed expanded the choreographer’s own artistic world as one attempted to visualize the intended theme and realize the artistic meaning.
