무용작품 「길」에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 2017년 12월 7일 이화여자대학교 체육관 홀1에서 발표한 본 연구자의 무용작품「길」에 관한 연구이다. 논문의 전체적 구성은 서론에서 연구목적 및 필요성과 연구방법 및 제한점을 시작으로 본론을 통해 작품의 핵심개념을 서술하고 무용작품「길」에 대한 구체적인 분석이 이루어진다. 작품을 집중적으로 탐구하는 3장에서는 먼저, 안무자 소개와 안무 의도, 그리고 작품 분석으로 나뉘며, 이때 작품「길」의 분석은 작품을 구성하는 예술적 요소들과 움직임으로 구분하여 작품으로 전개되는 형상화 과정을 구체적으로 분석하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 다음과 같다. 현대 사회에서 나타나고 있는 싱글족 현상을 통해 현대인들의 삶의 본질을 인지하고 고찰해봄으로써 주체성을 가진 진정한 자아로 형성할 수 있음을 무용작품「길」을 통해 전달하고자 하였다. 인간은 태어날 때부터 사회적 관계를 맺고, 타인과의 관계 맺음을 통해 정체성을 확립한다. 그러나 현대 사회에서는 사회적 연결망이 광범위하게 커지면서 감당할 수 없는 관계 형성의 과부화와 피상적이고 종속된 인간관계로 인해 관계를 맺고 있음에도 회의감과 허망함을 느끼게 되고 혼자가 되고자 하는 관계의 회피로까지 이어지게 된다. 관계에 대한 상처로 인해 싱글족과 같은 혼자의 삶을 추구하게 되는 현대인은 이중적으로‘고독함’이라는 스스로가 만든 또 다른 울타리를 마주하게 된다. 따라서 피상적 관계 속에서 진정한 자아의 발견은 어디에서부터 오는 가에 대한 근본적인 물음에 답하기 위해 주제의식을 연구하고 고찰하여 작품으로 형상화하고자 하였다. 작품의 1장은 사회의 지속된 대인관계의 틀 안에 종속되어 주체성이 없이 살아가는 모습을 표현하고자 하였다. 이때, 작품에서는 거울이라는 오브제를 사용하여 혼란스러운 내면을 마주하는 모습을 직접적으로 나타내고자 하였다. 따라서 거울위에 엎드려 무거우면서 깊고 강한 호흡을 지닌 동작과, 직접적인 시선 처리로 주제를 부각시키고자 하였다. 더불어 강한 몰입력을 주기 위해 오브제를 무대 중앙에 위치시켰고, 오브제를 중심으로 핀 조명을 주어 더욱 의미를 강조하였다. 또, 거울의 깨짐을 나타내는 강한 음악을 초반에 사용함으로써 자신의 내면의 불안하고 어두운 심리상태를 드러내고자 하였다. 작품의 2장은 피상적인 인간관계 속에서 고독한 외로움을 인지하게 되어 겪게 되는 내적 갈등을 표현하였다. 사각의 길 조명을 통해 고독한 외로움의 결핍에서 벗어나고자 하는 격렬한 몸짓을 주로 표현한다. 또, 팔을 뻗고 다리를 앞으로 드는 모습과 몸의 균형을 앞으로 하여 양쪽으로 밀어내는 동작을 통해 주체적 삶으로의 나아가고자 하는 의지를 나타내었고, 강하고 명확한 비트의 음악을 사용해 분위기를 더욱 고조시키고자 하였다. 작품의 3장은 앞서 발생한 문제들을 극복하고,‘나’자신에 최대한 집중하여 주체성을 가진 진정한 자아로 극복함을 나타내고자 하였다. 따라서 3장에서는 무대 중앙의 오브제 주변을 돌고, 손으로 짚고, 밖으로 나갔다가 다시 들어오는 과정을 반복하여 그 의미를 나타내었고, 붉은 핀 조명과 빠른 비트의 음악을 사용해 감정을 극대화 시켜 더욱 고조된 분위기를 연출하고자 하였다. 결과적으로, 본 연구자는 무용작품「길」을 통해 현대 사회의 싱글족 현상이 대두되고 있는 현실을 인지하고 분석하여 본질적 결핍을 이해하고, 현대인들이 주체적인 자아정체감을 확립하여 보다 더 나은 삶으로 나아갈 수 있음을 얘기하고자 하였다. 또한, 본 연구를 통해 본인의 작품을 분석해봄으로써 이를 본인의 안무력 향상을 위한 자기 성찰의 기회로 삼고 예술적 가치관을 확립하여 추후 작품세계 발전의 계기를 가지는데 의의가 있다.;This thesis is a study on 「Path」, the dance work of the researcher presented on December 7 2017 at Ewha Womans University Physical Education Building Hall 1. The thesis starts by an introduction which discusses the purpose and necessity of the study, as well as its methodology and limitations, followed by the main body which describes the key concepts of the work and analyzes and studies the dance work 「Path」. Chapter 3, where the work is thoroughly explored, deals with the introduction of the choreographer, the intention of the choreography, and the analysis of the work. The analysis of the work 「Path」was separated into the artistic elements which compose the work and movements in an attempt to analyze the process of development of the work in detail. The purpose of the study is as follows. Via the dance work 「Path」, it was attempted to convey that the formation of the autonomous real self is enabled by recognizing the essence of lives of modern people and contemplating about it through the phenomenon of singlehood present in contemporary society. Humans constantly form social relationships from birth and establish their identities by relating to others. However, in contemporary society where social networks are extensively broaden, unbearably overloaded formation of human relationships which are often superficial and involving one’s inferiority leads to a sense of futility and skepticism, and in the end, the avoidance of relationships. Modern people preferring to be singles due to the pain inflicted by relationships ironically face a self-made barrier, loneliness. Thus, it has been attempted to study and contemplate the theme in order to answer the fundamental question of where the discovery of the real self comes from amid the superficial relationships. The first chapter of the work attempted to portray people confined in interpersonal relationships living without autonomy. Here, a mirror was used as an objet to directly depict the confrontation of internal confusion. Thus, it was attempted to convey the theme by movements involving deep and heavy breath done lying prone on the mirror, as well as an explicit and direct gaze. Moreover, the objet was placed at the center to draw greater focus and pin spot was used to illuminate around it, emphasizing its significance. Furthermore, strident music was used in the beginning to represent the breaking of the mirror, depicting the anxious and dismal psychology. Chapter 2 of the work portrayed the inner conflict experienced as one recognizes the isolation amid the superficial human relationships. The rectangular shaped light was used to illuminate the frantic movements seeking to escape from the deficiency incurred by isolation. Moreover, extending the arms with a leg lifted forward, as well as keeping the balance to the front of the body and pushing it away to the sides depicted the will to live an autonomous life. The music with strong and clear beat was used to heighten the mood. Chapter 3 of the work intended to portray the overcoming of problems previously depicted, as well as the development of real self with autonomy by focusing on the self. This was depicted by repeating the whole process of going around the objet at the stage center, placing hands on it, and exiting and entering back. Moreover, a red pin spot and fast beat music were used in an attempt to maximize emotions and thereby create intensified atmosphere. In conclusion through 「Path」, the researcher sought to recognize and analyze the phenomenon of singlehood in modern society, understanding the fundamental deficiency, and convey that modern people can live better lives by establishing autonomous self-identities. In addition, there is a significance that analyzing one’s own work served as an opportunity of self-examination aimed at improving one’s choregraphy, and has allowed the establishment of artistic values and thereby a development of the work of work later on.
