미술과 중심의 자유학기제 학생 선택프로그램이 중학교 1학년의 진로성숙도에 미치는 영향

Abstract

21세기 현대 사회에서는 OECD 국가를 중심으로 새로운 미래가 필요로 하는 인재가 갖추어야 할 핵심역량 함양을 위한 교육의 혁신을 강조하고 있다. 이러한 시대의 흐름에 맞춰 우리나라에서도 미래사회의 능동적인 대처를 위한 핵심역량 중심 교육을 강조하며, 학교 진로교육을 통해 학생들의 체계적인 학습 경험을 제공하고자 기존의 주입식 위주의 경쟁교육에서 배움 중심의 학습, 학생들의 꿈과 끼를 찾아주는 ‘자유학기제’를 본격화하였다. 2016년 자유학기제가 전국적으로 시행되는 가운데, 강원도교육청은 중학교 과정 1년 동안 자유학기와 연계자유학기로 운영하는 ‘자유학년제’를 실시하였으며 서울시교육청은 자유학기제 운영학교 중 일부를 ‘중2 혁신 자유학년제 운영학교’로 전환하였다. 경기도교육청은 기존의 한 학기 자유학기제 운영에 따른 단절화의 우려와 자유학기 확대 운영에 대한 현장의 의견을 반영하여 2017년부터 자유학년제를 전면 실시하였다. 전국적으로 확대 운영되고 있는 자유학기제는 ‘예술교육의 활성화’와 ‘교과 간의 통합·연계’를 장려하고 있으며 학생의 선택권을 적극 반영한 다양한 프로그램 개발의 운영과 활성화를 추구한다. 특히 미술과 중심의 자유학기제 학생 선택프로그램은 주어진 과제에 창의적으로 사고하고 표현하는 힘을 기를 수 있는 미술교과의 특징을 살리면서 학생들에게 다양한 진로 탐색의 기회를 제공한다. 더불어 타 교과와의 통합·연계를 통해 적절한 진로 선택을 도와줄 수 있는 교육방법으로, 그 필요성이 부각되어 이에 대한 논의가 계속적으로 이루어져왔다. 현 시점에서는 보다 실질적인 자유학기제 확대 운영에 대한 준비로 자유학기제의 경험을 일반학기의 교육활동에서도 지속할 수 있는 방안에 대한 고찰이 필요하다. 또한 자유학기제 프로그램의 다양성과 자율성을 지원하기 위해서는 보다 많은 연구결과와 프로그램 설계의 필요성이 요구된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 미술과 중심의 자유학기제 학생 선택프로그램을 구안·설계하여 그 효과를 검증하는 데에 목적을 두었으며, 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위한 연구방법은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 먼저 자유학기제의 개념과 특징, 운영 방안을 살펴보고 진로교육과 진로성숙에 대한 개념을 이론적으로 고찰한 후 현행 교육과정을 분석하여 학교에서 이루어지는 진로교육을 조사하였다. 둘째, 선행연구를 통해 미술과 중심의 자유학기제 학생 선택프로그램이 중학생의 진로성숙도에 미치는 영향을 고찰하고, 미술수업에 대한 인식과 진로선호도에 대한 사전 설문조사를 통해 학습자를 분석한 뒤 미술교육을 통한 진로교육의 필요성과 건축디자인 수업의 필요성을 바탕으로 미술과 중심의 자유학기제 학생 선택프로그램을 설계하였다. 셋째, 서울시 소재의 S중학교 1학년 20명에게 총 16차시의 프로그램을 적용하였으며, 미술과 중심의 자유학기제 학생 선택프로그램이 중학교 1학년의 진로성숙도에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 한국직업능력개발원에서 개발한 진로성숙도 검사를 이용하여 사전ㆍ사후 진로성숙도의 변화를 측정하였다. 넷째, 진로성숙도 검사를 통해서 수집된 자료는 SPSS WIN 22.0 프로그램을 사용하여 대응표본 t-test를 실시하여 분석하고 본 프로그램의 유의미성을 검증하고 결론을 도출하였다. 본 연구의 사전ㆍ사후 검사결과를 분석한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 진로교육과 미술교육을 연계한 미술과 중심의 자유학기제 학생 선택프로그램에 참여한 학생들의 진로성숙도 전체 총점은 사전·사후 검사 결과 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 났고, 대응표본 t-test 검증 결과 유의미한 효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 진로성숙도의 하위영역인 태도, 능력, 행동 영역에서 사전·사후 검사 결과 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났고, 효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 특히 ‘태도’영역에서는 계획성, ‘능력’영역에서는 자기이해와 희망직업에 대한 지식, ‘행동’영역의 진로탐색 및 준비행동 영역이 높은 향상도를 보였다. 결론적으로 본 연구에 참여한 실험집단의 검사결과는 진로성숙도 전체와 하위영역이 모두 통계적으로 유의미한 결과를 보였다. 따라서 미술과 중심의 자유학기제 학생 선택프로그램이 중학교 학생들의 진로성숙도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것이 검증되었다. 본 연구는 중학생을 대상으로 하는 구체적이고 체계적인 진로탐색 프로그램으로 자신에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 진로에 대한 깊이 있는 고민과 성찰의 기회를 제공한다. 또한 자유학기제의 경험을 일반학기의 교육활동 과정 속에서도 지속할 수 있는 방안으로 학생의 선택권을 적극 반영하고 존중하는 맞춤형 교육과정 운영의 확대의 토대가 되는 프로그램을 개발했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 이를 통해 자유학기제의 본래 취지인 학생 개개인의 꿈과 끼를 찾아 자신의 미래를 설계하도록 돕는 진로교육으로서의 충분한 역할이 되기를 기대한다.;In the 21st century, the modern society of OECD countries emphasizes the innovation of education in order to build up the core competencies of the talents leads to the future leaders. In this trend, South Korea starting to emphasize core competencies of education for the future society while implementing a free semester education system which focussed on learning-based education for supporting students to find their future goals and talents rather than traditional competitive cramming education. In 2016, during the free semester implemented through all nations, the Gangwon Provincial Office of Education conducted a ‘Free Grade Year’ which consisted of free semesters during the 1st year of middle schools otherwise, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education changed several ‘Free Grade Year’ into ‘The Free Grade Year of 2nd Grade Students’. The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education conducted ‘Free Grade Year’ from 2017, reflecting the concerns of disconnection due to the traditional ‘Free One Semester’ system and the opinions of the field. The ‘Free Semester’ system which is being expanded nationwide, encouraging art education and the integration of subjects and also supporting the development of various programs which reflected students’ choice. Particularly, free semester program which focused on arts major by students selection provides the opportunities for students to explore various careers while supporting them to build up creative thoughts with the ability of express their own ideas. Hence, there has been a continuous debating in education to aid students to select appropriate careers through the integration of different subjects. From now on, it is necessary to consider how to bring the experience of the free semester into the general education program for the preparation of expanding free semester program. In addition, more research and design program needed for supporting the diversity and autonomy of free semester system. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the effects of selecting the program which focused on arts major by students from the free semester system. There ar 4 research methods. Primary, through the examining of concept, characteristics, management plans for the free semester program, analysed current curriculum and researched career programs which are conducted at the school. Secondly, after investigating the effects of student selection program focused on arts major from free semester program on the career maturity of middle school students, designing the free semester program which based on the necessity of the careers education through the arts education and the importance of architecture class with the results of survey about the perception of arts class and the preference of careers. Thirdly, we applied a total of 16 programs to the 1st year students of S middle school in Seoul. To examine how the free semester student selection program which focused on art subjects impact on the career maturity of middle school students, career maturity test has used. Lastly, collected data through the career maturity test were analysed by using SPSS WIN 22.0 program to do the t-test and the significance of the free semester program was verified. The results of the pre - and post - test results of this study are summarized as follows. At first, the total points of career maturity of students who participated in the free semester selecting program which focused on arts major by students choice and also linked with career and art education showed that significant statistical difference from the results of pre- and post-test, and there was a significant effect on the result of the response sample t-test respectively. Secondly, there was the significant statistical difference between pre – and post – test results in subcategories of career maturity such as attitude, ability and behaviour. Especially, a high improvement has shown from planning, understanding oneself and the knowledge of the future job, exploring and preparing careers from the category of attitude, ability, behaviour respectively. In conclusion, the results of the research showed that both the overall level of career maturity and subcategories have statistical significance. In other words, selecting a program which focused on art major by students from the free semester system has a positive effect on career maturity of middle school students. As a specific and systematic career exploration program of middle school students, this study provides an opportunity for both depth thinking and reflection about the career with the understanding of themselves. Furthermore, this research has significantly important meaning in the way that developing a program which based on the expansion of customized education system students’ choice in order to bring the experience of the free semester into semester education system. Trough this research, selecting a program which focused on arts major by students from the free semester system will have to play a significant role in a career education for supporting students to fine their future plans and talents.
