- [Introduction]
Purpose: To integrate intensive reading (IR) and extensive reading (ER)
Rationale: IR and ER approaches are used for developing reading skills, focusing on fluency, vocabulary, enhanced comprehension through strategy instruction as well as the development of motivation and positive attitude toward reading extensively
Target learners: twenty 15 year-old students, mixed gender
Proficiency: Intermediate-mid according to the ACTFL
Learning context: The Phantom of the Opera from MACMILLANREADERS
[Method]
CLT
Extensive and Intensive reading approaches
[Expected Outcomes]
Students will not only develop receptive skills but also productive skills.
Students will enhance reading comprehension through effective strategy instruction.
Students will acquire vocabulary through extensive reading.
Students will develop a strong motivation and positive attitude toward reading.
Students will have an opportunity to learn grammar in meaningful context.
