중학교 임진왜란 수업 방안 연구

Abstract

역사교육에서 학생들에게 전쟁사를 가르치는 목적은 여러 가지가 있겠지만 오늘날에도 국난극복의 틀 속에서 민족의 자긍심을 고취시키고자 강조하는 방향으로 수업이 이루어지는 것은 바람직하지 않다. 특히 임진왜란은 한국사의 대표적인 외침이자 동아시아 국제 전쟁으로서의 중요성을 학계에서 인정받아 왔다. 그러나 선행연구의 검토 결과, 임진왜란 수업은 연구 대상이 주로 초등학생에 편중되어 있고, 연구 내용이 국난극복의 틀이 갖는 문제점을 지적하면서도 한일 관계의 관점을 넘어서지는 못하고 있다. 그러므로 본 연구의 목적은 중학교 역사 교육과정의 목표가 우리나라와 주변국의 역사를 관련지어 이해하는데 있음을 고려하여 “중학교 임진왜란 수업의 개선 방안”을 모색하는 것에 있다. 이를 위해 학계에서의 임진왜란에 대한 연구 성과를 검토하고 이를 바탕으로 교육과정 및 교과서 분석 결과 드러난 임진왜란 수업의 한계점을 보완하는 실험 연구를 실시하였다. 그리고 실험반 수업과 함께 교과서 내용에 충실한 비교반 수업도 실시하여 임진왜란 수업 내용 개선의 효과를 더욱 분명하게 제시할 수 있도록 하였다. 이 때 교과서 분석 결과 드러난 가장 큰 문제점에 해당하였던 임진왜란 당시 중국 측과 관련된 내용 전반이 중점이 되어 실험반 수업에서 보완되었다. 본 연구와 기존의 연구는 다음에서 차별된다. 첫째, 본고는 선행연구에서 본격적으로 다루어진 적이 없었던 중학생 대상의 임진왜란 수업 개선 방안 연구를 비교반과 실험반에 대한 수업 결과의 비교 분석 과정까지 진행하였다. 둘째, 본고는 임진왜란을 한일관계의 관점 위주로만 보았던 기존 연구의 한계점을 보완하여 임진왜란 수업에서 이 전쟁이 동아시아 국제 전쟁으로서 재조명될 수 있도록 하였다.;The objective of this paper is to improve the course of the Imjin War at a middle school. Strictly speaking, previous courses of that war based on the point of view focused on inspiring students with overcoming a national crisis. Thus, two courses were designed. First, the control course was based on traditional way. This course was kept with previous courses. Second, the experimental course was re-designed on the basis of the research of Imjin War in the academic world. The course implied the truth that include the facts in the Chinese view, so it was supposed to help students understand the actual facts in objective and balanced way. Each course was performed at one time. The result of the control course, namely traditional way, indicated several drawbacks. First, the course made students understand the historical facts for the sake of the relationship between countries, Korean and Japan. Second, students showed a tendency to obsess about only victory or defeat of the war. Also, third, the course made the students encourage anti-Japanese sentiments. On the other hand, the result of the experimental course suggested several new possibilities. First, the course made students evaluate not only victory of defeat of the war but outcome of the war. Second, it made them understand the relationship between combatant nations. Third, they recognized the war as East Asian World War, And, finally, they realized that the form of the warfare has been only changed, but the conflict between countries is currently underway.
