창작 그림책에 나타난 성 역할 고정 관념의 변화

Abstract

본 연구는 창작 그림책이 다양하게 출판된 1980년대와 1990년대의 동화를 대상으로 하여, 등장 인물들을 통해 나타난 성역할 고정 관념의 변화가 양시대별로 차이가 있는지를 비교 분석하여, 앞으로 유아를 위한 창작 그림책이 남녀 역할 평등관에 알맞는 인물의 특정 행동과 역할 등을 묘사하여 바람직한 성역할 교육을 위한 자료가 될 수 있도록 기초 자료를 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이와 같은 목적에 따라 다음과 같은 연구문제를 설정하였다. 1. 80년대와 90년대사이에 그림책에 나타난 성역할 고정 관념은 차이가 있는가? 1-1. 양시대에 따라 표제에 나타난 성은 차이가 있는가? 1-2. 양시대에 따라 이야기에 나타난 등장인물의 성은 차이가 있는가? 1-3. 양시대에 따라 그림에서의 등장인물의 성은 차이가 있는가? 2. 80년대와 90년대사이에 그림책에 나타난 성의 역할은 차이가 있는가? 2-1. 양시대에 따라 그림책의 중심역할의 성은 차이가 있는가? 2-2. 양시대에 따라 주인공의 역할(적극적/소극적, 전통적/비전통적)은 차이가 있는가? 2-3. 양시대에 따라 주인공의 활동장소(실내/실외)는 차이가 있는가? 3. 80년대와 90년대사이에 그림책에 나타난 남녀의 직업은 어떠한가? 본 연구의 대상은 1980년-1984년에 출판된 도서 64권과 1990년-94년에 출판된 도서 64권으로 총 128권이었다. 양시대간에 그림책에 나타난 성역할 고정관념의 변화를 분석하기 위해 Ann과 그의 동료의 연구와 Mary와 그 동료들이 사용한 분석기준을 적용하였다. 분석된 자료는 빈도와 백분율, χ^(2) 검증에 의해 분석되었다. 본 연구의 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 양시대에 따라 그림책의 표제에 나타난 성의 변화에는 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 90년대에 와서 중성과 여성의 사용이 증가하여 남성, 여성. 중성의 비율이 거의 균등하게 나타났다. 2. 그림책의 이야기에 나타난 등장인물의 성의 변화는 양시대간에 중성의 증가만이 의미있는 변화로 나타났다. 그러나 그림에 나타난 등장인물의 성의 변화는 의미있는 차이는 아니었다. 두 항목의 변화에서 가장 명백한 것은 중성 등장인물의 증가였다. 3. 중심 역할의 성의 변화는 양시대간에 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않으나 변화경향이 남성은 감소하고 여성과 중성의 경우에는 증가를 보였다. 4. 주인공의 역할 변화에서 통계적으로 의미있는 차이는 남성의 전통적인 역할의 감소이다. 그러나 여전히 남성은 원기왕성하고 활동적으로 표현되면서 적극적인 역할을 수행하고 있다. 5. 그림책에서 주인공의 활동 장소의 변화는 양시대간에 차이가 있다. 즉 실내는 증가, 실외는 감소의 변화를 보였다. 6. 그림책에 나타난 남녀직업의 변화는 일 차이가 없었다. 시대에 상관없이 남성이 여성보다 직업이 많고 다양한 것으로 나타났다.;The purpose of this study is to analyse whether Sex-Role stereotyping has been changed between the children's creative picture books in1980's and 1990's through characters, and to represent character's actions and roles which are well fitted for egalitarian perspective, so to furnish basic information for desirable sex-role education in the future. To achieve these purpose, the specific questions have been set in this study as follows : 1.Have sex-role stereotyping which was expressed in the picture books between 1980's and 1990's been changed? 1-1.Have gender in title between 1980's and 1990's been changed? 1-2.Have gender of characters in text between 1980's and 1990's been changed? 1-3.Have gender of characters in picture between 1980's and 1990's been changed? 2.Have roles of females which were expressed in the picture books between 1980's and 1990's been changed? 2-1.Have gender of central roles in picture books between 1980's and 1990's been changed? 2-2.Have roles of central characters (active/passive/traditional/non-traditional)between 1980's and 1990's been changed? 2-3.Have location(outdoor/indoor) of central characters between 1980's and 1990's been changed? 3.Have the occupations of characters(male/female) in picture books between 1980's and 1990's been changed? The subject of this study was 64 volumes which were published in 1980-84 and 64 volumes which were published in 1990-94. To analyse changes of sex-role stereotyping expressed in picture books between 1980's and 1990's, Ann & his colleagues's study and Mary & his colleagues's study were used in this study. The analizing methods of data were frequency, percentage, and x^(2) test. The result of this study are summerized as follows : 1.There have been differences in gender in title between 1980's and 1990's. So to speak, gender of neuter & female was incresingly. used, so percentage of male, female, neuter were almost equal. 2.Gender of character in text was increased in male, female and neuter. But there was only significant difference in neuter. 3.No significant differences were found in gender of central characters. 4.In roles of central characters, there was significant decrese in traditional roles of male. But gender of male still was expressed in energetic, active and carried out positive roles. 5.In location of central characters between 1980's and 1990's there was significant difference. So to speak, indoor was increased and outdoor was decreased. 6.In occupation(male/female) in picture books, there was no significant difference between 1980's and 1990's. Occupations of male were more abundant and various than those of female in both periods.
