전통의 현대적 수용에 관한 연구

Abstract

전통은 사회 구성원들의 행동과 관습, 사유의 의식을 결정짓는 하나의 가치체계로서 한 사회나 민족의 규범적인 힘이 되는 동시에 인간을 역사적 존재로 만들어 후세에까지 영향력을 행사하는 역사 正體의 에너지라 할 수 있다. 그런만큼 전통은 역사적 소산이자 사회적 형성물인 동시에 사회의 발전에 기여하는 미래 창조의 주체적이고 실천적인 가능태이다. 전통문화중 기층문화의 여러 요소를 집약적으로 그리고 총체적으로 드러내 보이고 있는 탈춤은 기층 민중의 한 생활사이며 또한, 하나의 예술사로서 당대의 사회문화사적 기능을 수행해 왔다고 이해된다. 따라서 탈춤에 내재된 정신 및 여러 가지 표현 양식을 오늘 이땅에 창조적으로 계승하는 문제는 전통문화의 현대적 수용이라는 당면한 과제를 논의하는데 구심적인 역할을 할 수 있을 터이다. 이러한 의의를 강조하면서 본 논문은 탈춤의 사회문화사적 기능을 현대적으로 수용한 마당극의 일련의 성과를 토대로 이를 마당춤판에 적용하여 몇 가지, 문제성적 과제를 제기하고 나아가 한국 춤의 발전 방향의 정립을 모색해 본 것이다. 먼저 문헌을 중심으로 그동안 논의되어 왔던 전통의 개념과 효용가치 및 계승방향을 검토하여 전통에 관한 과정을 정리하는 한편 세시풍속을 통한 사회인식의 기능을 근저로하여 구성원을 결속시키는 공동체 의식의 강화와 성장된 민중의식의 반영이라는 탈춤의 사회문화사적 기능을 살핌으로써 본격 논의를 위한 토대를 일차 마련하였다. 다음으로 탈춤의 이러한 기능을 현대적으로 수용한 한 양상인 마당극의 전개과정을 점검하고 마당극의 본질적 성격인 '상황적 신명성', '민중적 전형성', '집단적 신명성', '현장적 운동성'의 원리를 마당춤판에 적용하여 몇 가지 구체적 사례를 다루어 보았다. 오늘날의 마당춤판에서 드러나고 있는바 의욕적인 실험정신에도 불구하고 현실인식의 미흡함과 역사인식의 결여 및 이에 따른 춤 창작작업상의 과학성 결여는 극복해야 할 과제로 드러났다. 자기 반성적 차원에서 기존 양식을 점검하고 보다 열린의식으로써 인접 예술과 춤 쟝르간의 유기적인 관계속에서 총체성을 획득하는 것이 그 해결점의 한 실마리가 될 것이다. 그러나 무엇보다 중요한 것은 이 땅의 문화적 상황을 직시하여 민족적 현실과제에 한국적 몸, 한국적 춤으로 맞부딪치는 이 시대의 치열한 작가정신, 나아가 창조정신이라 하겠다.;Tradition is the wholesome value organization that affects our future life formed from the past to this day possessing historical life. It is called also as the energy Resource that affects from the past to the future. In general, Tradition is recognized in the value only when created newly. Through this flow, Among the Traditional Culture, the modernized Accomodation of Mask Dance is significant for what it should be. The content of this study is to investigate the Aspects and issue of Madangchum through searching into the outcome of Madangkeuk. At first, to establish the concept of Tradition and Utility value by theoritical Research and to review diverse Aspects of Madangkeuk on the period of 1980's including Korea Traoitional customs, strengthened consciousness of cooperation and Development of popular consciousness. Also drivers aspects of Madnagchum were investigated through actual examples by applying the principle of circumstantial reality, popular pattern, mass enthusiasm and actual metier to Madangchum. Going through the process of lnvestigation, artisty and sociality of Madangchum were reviewed. The lackness of realistic understanding, shortage of historical acknowledgement and insufficiency of scientism were left as a problem and new dance situation, moreover renewal of society movement should be followed through facing up to the reality of our cultural state.
