20世紀 英國 Ballet史 硏究

Abstract

발레史를 일별하여 볼 때 20世紀 以前의 英國의 발레는 이태리 프랑스, 러시아 등과 比較도 할 수 없을 정도로 落後되어 있었다. 今 世紀에 들어서면서, 英國의 발레는 짧은 時程속에서 놀랄만한 發展을 거듭하였는데, 이러한 發展過程에 있어서 로얄·발레단의 活躍이 가장 큰 몫을 담당하였다. 로얄 발레단의 탄생은 1931년 5월 5일에 old-vic극장에서의 공연을 시초로 빅-웰즈 발레단으로 發足되어 전쟁중에 세들러스 웰즈 발레단으로 이름이 바뀌었고, 꾸준한 成長을 거듭하여, 1956년에 이르러서는 名實相符한 世界的 발레단으로서의 로얄 발레단으로 成長하게 되었다. 그후 여러 차례의 美國巡廻 공연은 물론, 古典物에서 現代物에 이르는 광범위한 作品 系譜를 가지고 世界 무대를 주름잡아 오고 있으며 20世紀 굴지의 사랑 받는 발레단의 위치를 確固히 하고 있다. 특별히 이 團體를 이끌어 왔던 니네뜨·드 발로아(Ninette de Valois)의 명석한 통찰력 그리고 완벽한 訓練 體系를 비롯해서 진정한 英國的 스타일의 作品을 만들어낸 프레데력 아쉬턴(Frederick Ashtont), 그리고 英國이 낳은 世界的 발레리나인 마고트·폰틴(Margot fonteyn)등의 活濯이 바탕이 되어서 로얄-발레간은 급속한 雄飛의 기틀을 마련할 수가 있었다. 이러한 풍부한 人的資原 외에도 로얄·발레단이 성장할 수 있었던 데는 訓練의 環境的 要因이 적지 아니 뒤따랐다. 制度的 기구로써 발레스쿨과 전용 극장인 코벤트·가든에 자리잡은 로얄·오페라·하우스 등을 들 수 있겠고, 국가적 次元의 아낌없는 支援을 받으며 保護 育成되었다는 점과, 로얄·발레단의 長期間에 걸친 활약상으로 말미암아서, 英國 國民 모두가 발레를 사랑하는 풍토가 마련 될 수가 있었다는 점, 그리고 다른 한편에서는 카마르고 협회와 같은 발레 지원 단체가 적극적으로 호응해 주었던 점, 이밖에도 우리가 가장 중요한 요인으로 꼽을 수 있는 것은 기라성 같은 안무가, 무용수, 미술가들의 치밀한 협동정신과 폰테인의 뒤를 이으려는 수많은 발레리나들이 보여주는 선의의 경쟁의식 등등으로 요약해 볼 수가 있다. 한편 英國內에는 로얄·발레단의 成長과 더불어서 함께 活動해 온 람버트·빌레단, 런던 훼스티발 발레단등등 여러 발레단들이 있는데, 이들 역시 서로 연관성을 가지면서 활발한 창작 활동을 전재시켜 나가고 있다. 오늘날 英國이 전세계의 발레 수출국으로 발전하는데 있어서 核心的 역할을 담당한 로얄·발레단은 이제 그 이름이 나타내는 데로 英國이 자랑하는 세계적 발레단으로 고전 계열에서 부터 현대인의 內面的 갈등을 묘사하는 현대 계열에 이르기 까지 폭 넓은 작품 계보를 보유하는 한편, 英國이 낳은 수많은 안무가들의 공연을 통해 그 이름을 온 地球上에 알리고 있다.;If we look at the history of Ballet, we can find that before 20 century, the British Ballet had been very poor compared with that in Italy, France and Russia. By the turn of the century, The British Ballet had developped astonishingly in spite of the short history, and Royal Ballet played an important role for the prosperity of the Ballet since it was established in the name of Vic - Wells in 1930s. It had grown up continuously. So, in the year of 1956, it became, both in name and in reality, a worldwide ballet company. Thereafter, the Royal Ballet received a great eulogy from all the British people, who loved Ballet, through the immense works ranged from classical repertoires to modern ones. And they often made a tour around the world which brought great success. The Royal Ballet assured the position acquired by the hard efforts. In particular, we can notice that there were some famous persons who had great influence on the rapid development; Ninette de Valois who is a woman of insight and who trained the disciples very hard with a complete systematic discipline. Prederic Ashton as a Choreographer of true English style, and Margo Fonteyn as a great Ballerina. Besides these persons' influence, we can also find some environmental reasons for the prosperity of Royal Ballet. The followings are the three important things; First of all, it is the institutional apparatus. There were Ballet school, and Royal Opera House, situated on the Covent Garden, which is the exclusive theatre for the ballet. In addition, it had received a great support given by the government. Eventually, due to the vital activities for a long time, the hopeful climate under which the British people loved ballet was formed. The second one is that there was a group like camargo society that was simpathy with it, the Royal Ballet. Lastly, it is the most important thing we can cite. It was the fact that the spirits of co-operation and competition, existed in the Royal Belief Fer instance, all the artists such as choreographer, dancer, musicion and designer helped each other. And the ballerinas desired truly to succeed Margot Fonteyn. On the other hand, Rambert Ballet Company, London Festival Ballet Company and the other, had been active in England, while The Royal Ballet was developping so rapidly. They, of course, expanded the creative works energetically with the relation. Nowdays, The Royal Ballet have played the most important role in propagating the ballet all around the world. And, as a world-wide Ballet Company of which the England is proud, it possosses not only a lineage of works ranged from the classics of the moderns' have various internal troubles, but also have attained a world-wide fame by the numerous British choreographer's works.
