Martha Graham의 作品世界

Abstract

20세기에 들어와서, 무용사적 측면에서 볼 때, 현대무용의 발전은 필적할만한 수확이다. 현대무용의 발전에 수많은 무용가들의 공헌이 있었으나. 특히 Martha Graham은 표현의 형식면이나 방법론적 기교면에서 다른 어떤 시대에서 볼 수 없는 개혁을 초래했고, 체계를 확립한 인물로서 어떤 전통에도 의지하지 않고 자기의 세계를 스스로 개척하고 구축했다. Martha Graham의 무용계에 끼친 영향력은 오늘의 시점에서도 창의적인 무용가들에게 자양분이 되고 있다고 본다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 제Ⅱ장에서 Martha Graham의 생애를 추적해 봄으로써 위대한 무용가로 성장하는데 영향을 준 사상적 배경과 환경적 배경을 살펴보았다. 제Ⅲ장에서는 Martha Graham의 작품세계를 3기로 구분해서 제1기를 1926년에서 1934년 초반으로 설정하고, 제2기는 1934년에서 1945년까지, 제3기를 1946년에서 1973년으로 분류해서, 각각의 작품의 종류와 경향을 분석함으로써, 각 시기의 특성을 알아보았다. 제Ⅳ장에서는 작품세계 고찰을 통해 축출해서 나온 Martha Graham의 작품원리로 그의 표현형식과 표현방법으로서의 기교면을 고찰해 보았다. 이상의 연구를 통하여 Martha Graham의 표현형식은 인간의 내적 환경을 표출시키는 내면성에 있으며, 표현방법으로 수축(Contraction)과 이완(Release)에 토대를 두고 발전했다는 사실과 작품세계의 분석을 통해 작품의 경향이 제1기는 心象的 소재로의 접근, 제2기는 미국적 소재로의 접근, 제3기는 신화적 소재로의 접근으로 특징 지 울 수 있다는 결론에 도달하게 되었다.;In view of history of dance during 20th, expension of Modern Dance was compared with the yield. There are many contribution of dancer about expansion of Modern Dance. But, espesially, Martha Graham was a person who established the system of modern dance and brought about remarkably inprecedent revolution in form of expression and methologic technique throughout over the period and developed and constructed her own world without relying tradition by herself. Thus, in Chapter Ⅱ, investgating the life of Martha Graham, the thoughtful context and environmental context which has effect to grow the great dancer was observed. In Chapter Ⅲ, the area of works was classified with three stage. First stage is established from 1926 to the begining of 1934, and second stage is established from 1934 to 1945, third age is established from 1946 to 1973. And the characteristic of each period was observed, analyzing nature and trend of each work. In Chapter Ⅳ, throughout Graham's principle of works, her expression form and technic as expression method was investigated. Graham's expression form is in the interion represented in inner environment of human and expression method was developed in foundation of contraction and release. In trend of work, first stage was chracterized approach to emotional material and Second Stage was characterized to approach material of American and third stage, is chracterized approach to mythological material.
