齊白石 예술이 중국회화에 미친 영향

Abstract

과거 중국에서 미술이라 함은 書와 畵를 뜻하는 것이었다. 이것은 중국인들이 수천 년 동안 미술에 있어서 詩書畵一致 사상을 중요시 해온 데서 알 수 있다. 따라서 詩와 書를 모르고서는 중국회화를 올바로 이해할 수가 없다. 이러한 관점에서 볼 때 淸代를 중심으로 한 중국서화는 역사적으로 만주족의 새로운 정권이 들어서면서 중대한 위기에 봉착하게 된다. 예술도 정치와 깊은 관계를 가지고 있기 때문에 明의 흥망은 중국화단에 심각한 영향을 미쳤다. 淸代에는 明朝와 같은 종류의 화원이 없었기 때문에 독특한 풍격의 회화가 유행하였다. 淸代의 많은 작가들은 오랜 전통속에서 아무런 특색없이 옛 것을 모방한 전통적 南宗山水畵에 염증을 느끼고 보다 새로운 창조적 예술을 시도하였다. 그리하여 우연히 나타난 것이 花卉와 靜沕등을 주로 다룬 新文人畵다. 이는 明末淸初의 八大山人(1626-1705), 石濤(1630-1707), 淸中葉의 揚州八怪를 거쳐서 趙之謙(1829-1884)을 지나 吳昌石(1844-1927), 齊白石(1863-1957) 등이 집대성 하였다. 따라서 필자가 연구한 이 시기는 新文人畵가 태동하여 최고조에 이르기까지의 기간으로서 중국현대미술을 이루는데 커다란 영향을 미친 시기라 할 수 있다. 특히 齊白石의 예술은 그의 書寫, 刻印, 新文人畵 등 어느것을 막론하고 吳昌碩 등이 성취하여 놓은 것을 한걸음 나아가 보다 근대화 하였다는데 의의가 있다. 齊白石은 앞서 말한 시서화일치사상에서 이루어진 전통적인 畵風의 바탕위에 자기만의 예술세계를 이루었다. 그는 중국전통회화에 있어서 時ㆍ書ㆍ畵를 꼭 병존시키지 않는, 즉 시를 쓰지 않고 낙관만 해 보는 시도를 하였으며, 또 하나의 특성은 전통화가와는 달리 寫生的인 화가였다는 것이다. 이러한 점이 전통회화로부터 발전된 요소이다. 이렇듯 모든 문화, 예술의 제도가 보다 혁신적이요, 근대화한 오늘날의 세계에서 현대의 작가는 舊風的인 예술의 제도와 태도를 고수할 수도, 또 고수할 필요도 없다. 현대의 작가들은 재료의 선택이나 그림을 그리는데 있어서 많은 혼돈을 겪고 있는데 齊白石의 예술을 이해하고 그의 작품태도를 이해하는 것은 우리의 그림을 어떻게 현대화 해 나가야 하는지 좋은 참고가 되리라 본다.;In China, from the past, Art means calligraphy and painting. For centuries, the Chinese emphasized the synthesis of poetry, calligraphy and painting in Art, therefore it is very important to understand the role of poetry and painting in Chinese Art. Art always relates with Politics. From this point of view, there were great crisis in Chinese Art in the transition period between Ming dynasty and the new Manchurian Ching regime. Ching dynasty had no painting academy, but this enabled painters, who were already bored to conventional Nan-jong-hua, to try new technics freely without any conventional limitations. Thus, the result of this painting movement, New wen-jen-hua was born and it's major subject matters are ts'ao-chu'ng and still life. The purpose of this study is to investigate the works of Chi Bais and that of his predecessors and contemporaries and to research his influence on the development of Chinese modern painting. Chi Bais made an effort to set his own painting method on the basis of traditional painting. The traditional concept of Art i s the fact that poetry, calligraphy and paintings should be unified to become a work of Art. No one doubted the concept for centuries. However, Chi Bais believed these three factors can be independent from one another, and he turned his beliefs into his own paintings. His another characteristic i s the synthesis of real and abstract factors in his works. Through his lifetime achievement, he made great influences on the development of Chinese modern paintings from the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century.
