고등학교 영어 독해에서의 문제점과 효과적인 지도 방법에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 고등학교 학생들의 영어 독해의 문제점을 알아보고 그에 따르는 효과적인 교수 방법을 제시하여 학습자의 독해력을 향상 시키는데 그 목적이 있다. 고등학교 학생들의 영어 독해에 관한 일반적인 견해를 알아보기 위해서 남자 고등 학교 4개반 학생들에게 설문지 조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과 독해 영역은 수업 시간을 통해 충분히 다루어지고 있음에도 불구하고 학습자들은 독해에 관하여 매우 자신감이 없었으며, 독해에서 가장 큰 문제점은 문법과 어휘로 나타났다. 또한 독해를 할 때 실제적으로 어떤 문제점이 있는지를 알아보기 위해 같은 학생들에게 간단한 독해 시험을 실시하였다. 그 결과 학생들의 독해 능력이 매우 부족하였으며, 그 중에서도 문법과 어휘의 문제가 가장 심한 것으로 나타났다. 설문지 조사와 독해 시험 결과를 바탕으로 한 고등학교 영어 독해 향상을 위한 효과적인 지도 방법은 어휘, 문법, 글의 논리, 문화 배경 지식, 속독 능력이 균형을 이룬 지속적인 지도이며 독해 자료의 선정도 올바른 독해 학습을 위해 고려되어야 할 것이다.;The purpose of this study is to find out the duifficulties that Korean high school students have in English reading and to present an effective teaching method to Improve their reading comprehension abilities. To find out the high school students' general opinion about English reading comprehension, a questionnaire was given to four classes of high school boys. The result showed that the students had no confidence in their own abilities of English reading, comprehension despite the fact that they had spent a great deal of time on it in their classes. They marked grammar and vocabulary as the most serious problems in their English reading. In addition, to examine the problems that they actually have in reading in English, an English reading comprehension was given. The results revealed that their reading abilities were very poor and their major problems were vocabulary and grammar. In order to help high school students to improve their reading abilities in English, teachers should teach all the factors involved in reading : vocabulary, grammar, logical organization, background knowledge, and speed of reading. Furthermore, reading materials should be carefully selected for the effective reading comprehension.
