CAI 코스웨어의 평가에 관한 연구

Abstract

Development of courseware or educational softwares is lacking in both quantities and qualities despite their growing need as increasing number of computers are being introduced in schools. For the development of high quality coursewares, it is necessary that they go through a systematic evaluation process. The purpose of this study was to examine the theoretical background of courseware evaluation, and to survey the current status of courseware evaluation in domestic courseware development institutions and the opinions about courseware evaluation of software developers. For the survey sample 16, 82 courseware developers among domestic institutions were randomly selected . The researcher visited these institutions to distribute 99 questionnaires among which 81 were collected. The results of the survey are as follows: 1. Only 2 of the sampled institutions have had done systematic courseware evaluation which included field testing. The rest either did no evaluation or did through outside agencies or did very briefly on their own. Therefore it seemed that courseware evaluation in domestic courseware development institutions were still at the beginning stage. 2. The main reason given for not having courseware evaluation was that it is too early to be concerned about quality evaluation when software development itself is at the starting stage. The sampled institutions planned to have courseware evaluation in the future although no concrete plans were made. 3. All of the survey group pointed out that courseware evaluation is a necessary process in courseware development. 4. For the direction of courseware evaluation, it was pointed out that specialized agency to conduct courseware evaluation need to be established. As for developing evaluation criteria, the respondents thought that courseware development professionals should set the quality criteria besed on theoretical researches. 5. The most frequently suggested method of courseware evaluation by the institution itself were evaluations by the internal development team and by field testing. The suggested participants in the evaluation process were course specialists, instructional designers, students, programmers, graphic designers and, particularly, school teachers. 6. It is considered important to include aspects of content, instruction, screen design, technical, management, and others in setting the evaluation criteria. Among them, it was pointed out that content is the most important criterion in courseware evaluation, and management the least important. On the basis of above results, this study makes several recommendations for desirable direction in courseware evaluation. 1. According to the need for courseware evaluation for improving the qualities of courseware, specialized agency operating the evaluation process should be established for quality assurance in educational computer softwares. The evaluation results should be published so that publication of evaluation software quality information by the school teachers and students could use the information when selecting coursewares. 2. Courseware development institutions should enhance their effort in developing high quality courseware by conducting internal evaluation through field testing, as well as through their own courseware development team. 3. Development courseware should be evaluated by a team of subject specialists, instructional designers, school teachers, students, programmers, and graphic designers with the evaluation criteria developed by courseware development professionals OR the basis of theoretical researches. 4. When deciding the criteria for courseware evaluation, it is important to consider all aspects of content, instruction, screen design, technical, management, and others. Among them the aspect of content is very important criterion because the primary role of courseware is the delivery of instructional content. Courseware evaluation criteria should be set up for CAI types of programs and subjects in order to conduct systematically evaluation.;학교 교육에 컴퓨터가 도입됨에 따라 교육용 소프트웨어, 즉 코스웨어 개발이 절실히 요구되고 있음에도 불구하고 코스웨어는 양적이나 질적인 면에서 매우 부족한 실정이다. 특히 양질의 코스웨어를 개발하기 위하여 코스웨어는 개발단계에서 체제적인 평가 과정을 필수적으로 거쳐야 한다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 코스웨어 평가에 관한 국내외의 관계 문헌을 이론적으로 고찰하고, 코스웨어 개발 전문가를 대상으로 코스웨어 평가의 국내 현황과 코스웨어 평가에 대한 의견을 설문 조사하여, 코스웨어 평가에 있어서 바람직한 방안을 모색하는데 있다. 교육용 소프트웨어를 개발하고 있는 16기관의 코스웨어 개발 전문가를 대상으로 기관 방문 방식에 의하여 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 설문지는 총 99부가 배부되었고 그 중 81부가 회수되었다. 조사연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 조사대상인 16개의 코스웨어 개발 기관 중 2개 전문연구기관만이 체제적인 평가를 실시한 적이 있었고, 그 이외 기관은 평가를 실시하지 않거나 또는 외부에 의뢰하거나 자체적으로 약식적인 평가를 실시하고 있었다. 따라서, 아직 국내 코스웨어 개발 기관에서의 코스웨어 평가는 도입 초기단계에 있는 것으로 나타났다. 2. 평가를 실시하지 않는 이유로는 아직 소프트웨어 개발도 초기 단계이므로 평가는 시기 상조이다가 가장 많았으며, 앞으로의 평가 실시 계획은 현재 구체적인 계획은 없지만 평가를 실시하려고 한다는 의견이 가장 많이 나타났다. 3. 코스웨어 평가의 필요성에 대해서는 대상자 전체의 77.5%가 반드시 필요하다고 반응하므로써, 코스웨어 개발에서는 평가단계가 필수적임을 강조하고 있다. 4. 코스웨어 평가 방향은 교육용 소프트웨어의 품질을 평가 관리하는 전문 기관이 마련되어야 한다는 의견이 가장 많았고, 평가준거는 코스웨어 개발 전문가가 이론적 연구를 기초로 개발해야 한다가 가장 많이 나타났다. 5. 코스웨어 제작 기관에서 실시해야 하는 평가로는 개발팀 자체 평가와 현장 평가(field test)가 많이 지적되었다. 평가시 참여 요원으로는 교과 전문가. 교수설계자, 학교 교사, 학생, 프로그래머, 그래픽 디자이너 등 코스웨어 개발자나 활용자 모두 참여하여 이루어지는 것이 바람직한 것으로 나타났으며 특히 학교 교사의 참여를 강조하였다. 6. 코스웨어 평가시 고려해야할 준거로는 내용면, 교수면, 화면 설계면, 기술면, 관리면, 기타의 6항목 모두 중요하게 고려되어야 하는 것으로 나타났고, 그 중에서 내용면이 가장 높은 중요도로, 관리면이 가장 낮은 중요도로 나타났다. 본 조사연구의 결과를 토대로 컴퓨터 코스웨어 평가의 바람직한 방안을 위한 제언을 하면 다음과 같다. 1. 국내에서 개발되는 코스웨어의 질을 향상시키기 위한 평가의 필요성에 따라 교육용 소프트웨어의 품질을 평가 관리하는 전문기관이 마련되어야 한다. 또한 코스웨어 사용자를 위한 평가 정보를 책자로 출판하여 학교 교사나 학생에게 코스웨어 선택이나 활용시 이를 유용하게 이용할 수 있도록 한다. 2. 코스웨어 제작기관에서는 코스웨어 평가시 개발팀에 의한 자체 평가 뿐만 아니라 학교 현장에도 적용하여 현장 평가(field test)를 실시하고 이를 토대로 양질의 코스웨어를 개발하도록 해야 한다. 3. 코스웨어 평가시에는 코스웨어 개발 전문가가 이론적 연구를 기초로 개발한 평가준거에 따라 교과전문가, 교수설계자, 프로그래머, 그래픽 디자이너와 코스웨어 사용자인 학교 교사, 학생이 모두 참여하여 평가를 실시해야 한다. 4. 코스웨어 평가준거를 개발할 때에는 내용면, 교수면, 기술적인 면, 화면설계 면, 관리면, 등을 모두 중요하게 고려해야 한다. 그 중에서도 코스웨어는 교과 학습 내용을 전달하는 프로그램이므로 특히 내용면을 중요하게 고려할 수 있도록 평가준거가 개발되어야 한다. 또한 앞으로 개발될 다양한 코스웨어를 구체적, 심층적으로 평가하기 위하여 코스웨어 유형이나 과목 등에 따른 평가준거가 개발되는 것이 필요하다.
