중, 고등학생의 정치적 태도와 사회비판의식에 관한 조사연구 : 정치적 냉소주의 원인분석을 중심으로

Abstract

본 논문은 정치적 태도와 사회비판의식과의 관계 고찰을 통하여 올바른 비판의식을 함양하기 위한 정치교육의 과제를 제시하고자 함을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 조사연구를 실시하였는데 독립변인으로는 환경변인과 정치적 태도를 종속변인으로 사회비판의식을 설정하였다. 독립변인으로 환경변인은 학년, 성별, 경제수준, 사회교과흥미, 정치교과이수, 학교계열로 하고 정치적 태도는 정치효능감, 정치신뢰감(기능적 신뢰와 규범적 신뢰로 구분함), 정치적 관심, 관용, 타인 신뢰의 5가지 영역으로 하여 사회비판의식과의 관계를 살펴보았다. 연구방법은 각 개념에 대한 설문지를 작성하고 중3, 고1, 고2에 해당되는 계열별 남·여 학생을 대상으로 작성한 1046부를 일원분산분석과 교차분석 그리고 상관관계 결과를 통해 그 결과로 가설을 검증하였다. 연구 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 환경변인에 따른 사회비판의식은 높은 학년, 여학생, 낮은 경제수준, 높은 사회교과흥미, 정치교과를 이수하지 않은 학생, 인문계 학생들에게서 높게 나타났다. 정치적 태도에 따른 사회비판의식은 정치신뢰감과 정치효능감이 낮을수록 그리고 정치적 관심이 많을수록 사회비판의식은 높게 나타났고 민주적 태도와 관련해서는 관용적일수록 사회비판의식은 높았으며 타인신뢰가 낮을수록 사회비판의식이 높았다. 정치적 냉소주의는 낮은 정치신뢰감과 정치효능감에서 비롯되는데 이 때 사회비판의식은 높아짐을 알 수 있다. 하지만 낮은 수준의 정치효능감에서 보다 중간 수준의 정치효능감에서 사회비판의식이 높음을 알 수 있었다. 즉 대부분의 학생들은 사회비판의식이 높아짐에 따라 정치적 냉소주의도 함께 나타남을 알 수 있는데 지식과 실천이 겸비된 올바른 사회비판의식 형성만이 이러한 냉소주의를 감소시킬 수 있을 것이라고 본다. 따라서 이러한 결론을 바탕으로 한 정치교육의 과제는 바람직한 정치적 태도 함양을 위해 건전한 사회비판의식을 키우는 것이라 할 수 있다. 바람직한 정치적 태도로 특히 중요한 것이 정치참여인데 참여는 정치신뢰감과 정치효능감의 조합에 의해 성립되는 것으로 이러한 정치신뢰감과 정치효능감은 정치적 관심에서 비롯된다 할 수 있다. 이러한 정치적 관심이 사회비판의식을 제고시키므로 정치적 지식과 관심을 교육하는 정치교육은 정치발전에 있어서 필수적이다. ; This paper aims to provide tasks for political science education in order that students may form proper criticism through the investigation of the relationship between political attitudes and social criticism. A survey was conducted for this objective. Environmental variable and Political attitude were set as an independent variable and Social criticism as the dependent variable. The environmental variables of the independent variable were divided into grade, gender, economic back ground, social studies interest, yes or no study politics, school line. The political attitude of the independent variable was divided into different categories - political efficacy, political credibility, political interest, tolerance and trust in others. The relationship that exists between social criticism and each of independent variables has been studied. 1046 questionnaires were designed for each of concepts and it was distribute to the students in the third year of middle school, the first year of high school, and the second year of high school. The questionnaires were analyzed through a one-way variance analysis, cross analysis, and correlation analysis. As a result, the hypothesis was verified. The results could be summarized as follows: Related with the social environmental variables, social criticism is higher in those students who are in higher grades, who are female, who have low level of economic backgrounds, who have high interests in social science, who haven t studied politics, and who go to academic high schools. Related with one s political attitudes, his social criticism become higher when he has lower of political credibility and political efficacy and when he has high interest in politics. Related with democratic attitudes, his social criticism is higher when his trust in other people is low and when his tolerance is high. The political cynicism is caused when people have low level of political credibility and political efficacy, and in that case they will rather have higher social criticism. In general, namely, the higher social criticism students have, the higher their political cynicism grows. They can clear their mind of their political cynicism only when they have sound social criticism through gaining related knowledge and practicing it. According to the conclusion above, therefore, our task of political education is to foster sound political criticism for desirable political attitude. Especially, what is important in students forming desirable political attitude is their political participation caused by their political credibility and political efficacy which grow out of their interest in politics. In conclusion, it is necessary for political development to educate political knowledge and interest, which gives rise to the social criticism.
