한성준의 예술정신에 나타난 민족적 성향에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문에서는 한성준 민족적 측면을 평가하는데 있어서 그 근거와 기준이 되는 요인은 무엇인가를 밝히고 이를 시대적 상황과 연결하여 그 당시 무용의 경향에서 가치 평가절하된 그의 전통성과 민족성을 파악하고자 한다. 이러한 연구에 의하여 본 논문에서는, 새로운 결론이 아니라 이미 알고 있었음에도 불구하고 인지하지 못하고 간과하기 쉬웠던 점들을 기본적인 관점으로 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 결국 현재의 무용문화와 무용문화의 개념적 논의에 까지 확대되어질 수 있는 자료로 제공하는데 있다. 일제통치하에서 한국 근대춤의 시대적 상황과 전통 및 민족성의 개념을 정립하는 것을 이론적 배경으로 삼아 한성준의 성장배경과 예술관을 되짚어보면서 한국 근대춤에서의 한성준의 존재를 전통춤 영역에 서의 자율성 확립이라는 업적으로 추론해나갔다. 그 결과를 전통과 민 족성과의 관계성 연구를 통해 분석해 보았다. 또한 한성준의 대표작품을 통한 연구로서 그의 작품중 백미라 일컬어지는 두 작품을 통해 그에 대한 민족적 측면에 대한 평가를 인식시키고자 한다. 그 결과 그는 당시의 시대적 조류에 따른 서양식 조선무용에 대해 우리의 전통무용을 내세울만큼 뚜렷한 민족적 무용관을 소유하고 있었으며 민중속에서 지켜내려오던 역사적 춤과 노래를 작품으로 만들어 낸 그는 타의 영향이나 모방도 아닌 순수한 자연발생적 욕구에 새로운 무용을 창작하여 민족의 자연미를 살려내었다. 이는 역사적 토대의 전통의 변화와 발전이라는 측면에서도 근대무용사에 지대한 공헌일 것이다. 보존이 필요한 민속무용을 대중을 위한 예술작품으로 만들어 전통무용에 대한 가치의식을 제고시켰으며, 전수와 교육에의 남다른 관심으로 전통의 계승을 실현시켰다. 이것이 오늘날 현실적 과제를 담아내는 정서적 토대로서의 민족적 양식을 창출시키는 역사적 소임을 충실히 하였다. 이렇듯 이와같은 그의 민족적 측면에 관한 조명은 오늘날의 무용에 대한 반성적 시각을 마련해 주며, 앞으로 나아갈 방향을 연구하는데 근거가 될 것이며, 양적인 발전에서 질적인 발전으로 변화되는 무용사의 척도로 쓰여지길 바란다.;This study is to examine the standards and basis of evaluating the national aspects of Han Sung-Jun, and grasp his nationalism and traditionalism depreciated in the dance trends of that time. By this study, I could confirm the things known but easily overlooked, not new results, as a basic point of view. This lies in providing material for the present dance culture and its conceptual discussions. Taking the establishment of the periodical situation, tradition of Korean modern dance and national character as a theoretical background, I defined the existence of Han Sung-Jun's dance in Korean modern dance as the establishment of autonomy in traditional dance by examining Han Sung-Jun's growth background and thoughts on art. The results of this study are analyzed through researching relation between traditional and national character. Also, I tried to value Han Sung-Jun's national aspects through studying two of his masterpieces. As a result, he had clear thought of national dance presenting our traditional dance against westernized Chosun dance of that time, and he revived national beauty of nature by creating new dance by natural desires, not by influence from others or imitating. This is a great contribution to Korean modern dance history in the aspects of changing and developing tradition based on history. He turned folk dance needed to be preserved into work of art and raised value of traditional dance. He also realized the succession of tradition with special interest in passing down and education. This greatly affected the creation of national styles as emotional basis containing today's tasks. As mentioned above, examining his national aspects gives us reflecting views of today's dance, and it will be the basis of studying future directions. Hopefully, this study will be used as the standards of dance history turning quantity development into quality development.
