2009 개정『한국사』의 내용 개선 방안

Abstract

This study aims to look at Korean history as a part of world history exchanging dynamics with other international affairs. In order for students to comprehend the theory of defending orthodoxy and rejecting heterodoxy and the movement of enlightenment during the modernization period, it is essential for them to have understanding on the nature of trade port openings, unequal treaty systems, government promoting the modernization and social resistance to it, and Gapsin coup d'tat of 1884. All of these were closely mingled with the international politics of the time and therefore, series of events in Korean history during this period can be understood in terms of world history. However, 2009 Revised 『Korean History』 textbook has much to be desired in this matter missing much of the parts dealing with world's expanding imperialism and capitalistic aspirations. As a way to improve the contents of 2009 Revised 『Korean History』 textbook, more of world history contents were added to enhance students' understanding on international politics at the time and some of the contents were rearranged and modified. This study especially tried to avoid dichotomistic representation of the orthodoxy and progressive faction. Also, a wider range of views were added to provide different aspects to a single historical events.;본 연구는 분리된 세계사 파악을 지양하고 통합성이 강조된 관점에서 세계사적 관점의 한국사를 살펴보고자 한다. 이에 따라 세계사적 관점에서 한국사 파악이라는 교육과정의 목표를 올바르게 실현하고자 현재에서 보완된 세계사 내용으로 개화기 척사와 개화를 중심으로 한국사 내용을 파악할 수 있도록 하는데 목적이 있다. 이에 따라 세부 주제를 개항과 불평등 조약 체제, 개화 정책의 추진과 반발, 갑신정변으로 나누고 이와 관련한 세계사적 관점에서 흐름을 파악하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 다음과 같이 연구를 진행하였다. 먼저 개화기 척사와 개화와 관련한 학계의 연구 동향을 분석하였다. 구체적으로 개항을 둘러싼 국제 정치, 개화 정책의 추진과 반발, 갑신정변으로 구분하여 살펴보았다. 그리고 2011년도부터 현장에 적용되는 고등학교 『한국사』와 관련해 교육과정의 목표와 내용 체계를 분석하였다. 학계 연구와 교육과정 분석을 바탕으로 교과서 해당 단원의 내용을 개항과 불평등 조약 체제, 개화 정책의 추진과 반발, 갑신정변으로 나누어 분석하였다. 분석 결과 개항과 불평등 조약 체제는 일본의 근대화 과정에 대한 서술이 조선의 식민지와 관련해 의미가 큼에도 구체적으로 서술되지 못했다. 나아가 이 시기 학계의 연구가 세계 자본주의 차원에서 논의 되고 있음에도 불구하고 서구 자본주의 차원의 상황을 구체적으로 설명해 주지 못하고 있다. 다음으로 개화 정책의 추진과 반발과 관련해 개화와 수구 세력을 뒷받침하고 있는 사상이라든지 인접 국가와의 교류가 구체적으로 제시되지 못하고 있었다. 이에 개화와 수구라는 대립 구도가 부각되어 나타났다. 마지막으로 갑신정변과 관련하여 사건의 배경, 전개, 결과 영향에만 초점을 맞추어 단편적인 사건 파악으로 이해될 수 있게 구성되었다. 이러한 논의를 종합하여 개선안을 모색하였다. 우선 세계사 내용을 좀더 강화하여 교과서를 재구성하였다. 그리고 다양한 역사 서술을 시도하여 하나의 사건에 여러 가지 설을 제시하였다. 마지막으로 개화기를 개화론과 수구론의 이분법적 대립에서 벗어나 세계사의 흐름과 당시 조선의 정치지형, 현실 정치의 관계를 토대로 시대를 파악할 수 있게 재구성하고자 노력하였다.
