Abstract
(University of Torino model of land Process Interaction with Atmosphere; UTOPIA)와 강우-유출 모델 (Hydrology Simulation Program in Fortran; HSPF)를 이용하여 지구 온난화에 따른 한반도의 에너지 및 물 순환 요소의 특성 변화를 살펴보았다. Global warming is a worldly climate phenomenon that affects the whole earth system. Among various effects, water resources have been emphasized with importance with their great impact on human activities and ecosystem. Currently there are various experiments running to investigate about the climatic phenomenon’s impact on water resources. In Korea, there are usually GCM scale analyses that are based on IPCC SRES. However, GCM data are limited to apply in the Korean Peninsula’s regional climatic characteristics because of Korean Peninsula’s complicated topography. In order to obtain a reliable analysis that reflects the characteristics of the Korean Peninsula, this experiment used the University of Torino model of land Process Interaction with Atmosphere (UTOPIA) that simulate the land surface process using RCM data, MM5 regional climate scenario as boundary condition and Hydrology Simulation Program in Fortran (HSPF) which is a precipitation runoff model to find out changes in characteristics of Korean Peninsula’s soil energy and water budget under global warming. We used atmosphere variables such as precipitation, solar radiation, wind and temperatures as boundary conditions of UTOPIA, and these boundary conditions were extracted from MM5 regional climate scenario that were based on A2 and B1 emission scenarios of IPCC for future simulation. Also, HSPF attempted to link three models by using boundary conditions of precipitation from MM5 regional climate scenario and evapotranspiration from UTOPIA. Simulation periods consist with present climate, 1996 to 2005, near future climate 2046 to 2055, and far future climate, 2091 to 2100. For these periods, we simulated soil temperature and soil moisture for whole Southern part of Korean Peninsula using UTOPIA, and finally, we simulated runoff change of Daechong Dam basin through HSPF. According to simulations, soil temperature of southern region will increase in the future with the increase proportional to the air temperature. The soil moisture, however, is decreased under A2 scenario with a huge decrease in precipitation. Also it is expected with a severe winter drought as the runoff near the Daechong Dam Basin steadily increases but decreases during winter, a period of water shortage. In the near future, there will be a severe change in runoff within a short period. From spring to the beginning of summer, there will be an intense decrease in runoff but in the late summer to fall, there will be an increase in the runoff. In agricultural districts, there will be a decrease in runoff in May, when is the time with great demand of water; therefore, the management of water resources in such districts is crucial. The change in runoff is very sensitive to precipitation that an attentive care for future precipitation changes is crucial for water sources management. Following analysis can be used as a base data for water sources management policy. The results of the land surface variables can also be applied in various fields including flood management, irrigation and vegetation related to soil.
