디자이너 지방시의 영화의상에 관한 연구

Abstract

The purpose is to study design of Hubert de Givenchy focusing on the main actress, Audrey Hepburn's costumes especially in the movies such as <Sabrina>, <Funny Face>, and <Breakfast at Tiffany's>. Audrey Hepburn represents fashion icon from the 1950s to the 1960s and she still have an effect upon the trend of the 21st century fashion in various aspects. The purpose of this study examined images of Audrey Hepburn's costumes images based on the film. Also, it was considered her image expressed in costume of characters and backgrounds on the basis of articles and photo in DVD, newspapers, magazines, and internet three films. Pure image of Audrey is opposite side of marilyn monroe or Elizabeth Taylor who's concept is actually glamour image and she gave to us another beauty of woman. Audrey's old friend Givenchy is famous for Audrey's movie dress design. Audrey and Givenchy contact with for movie are very work out. In the three movies, Audrey shown feminine various image. First, regarding the costumes in the movie <Sabrina>, Audrey's Capri pants and flat pumps with short hair expressed her cute, purity image. Also, the Capri pants known as "Sabrina pants" became popular all over the world. Sabrina in 1954 portrayed Audrey with the garmine style who is like a tall and skinny boy as more femine, innocent and clever. Second, red dress with red veil, white pants, bolero, and pink cummerbund showed an elegant image of a young sense in <Funny Face>. Third, she showed an urban, sophisticated image in <Breakfast at Tiffany's>. For example, some styles that first come to mind is Audrey Hepburn in the movie, such as boat neckline black dress with pearl necklace and big frame sunglasses, represent those images. In conclusion Audrey and Givenchy are influence to public fashion style and ideal of female. They know about that fashion is the best expression for image. In collaboration with both of them are the most successful example and won's taste realize.;본 연구는 오드리 헵번(Audrey Hepburn, 1929~1993)이 가장 전성기를 이루었던 1950~1960년대까지의 주연영화 중 몇 편에 선별하여 디자이너 위베르 드 지방시(Hubert de Givenchy,1927~)의 영화의상을 연구하는데 목적이 있다. 연구방법으로는 영화 <사브리나>, <파리의 연인>, <티파니에서 아침을>의 DVD와 국내외 문헌자료, 신문, 잡지, 인터넷 등의 기사 및 시각자료를 중심으로 분석하였다. 주연배우 오드리 헵번의 캐릭터를 연구하여, 영화 속에서 표현된 복식과 그 이미지를 고찰하였다. 디자이너 지방시의 영화의상 활동이 활발하던 1950~1960년대 사회문화적 배경은 제2차 세계대전 후 냉전의 시대였다. 1947년 크리스티앙 디오르(Christian Dior)가 발표한 뉴 룩(New Look)은 프랑스 오트 쿠튀르의 독창성과 위력을 다시 세계에 떨치게 하였으며, 전쟁 중에 남성복화 되었던 복식에 여성 신체의 아름다움을 중시한 엘레강스 시대를 불러일으켰다. ‘1950년대는 디오르의 라인 알파벳 시대’라고 불릴 만큼 파리 오트쿠튀르(Haute Couture)의 주도적인 역할을 하였다. 청순한 이미지의 오드리 헵번은 동시대의 마릴린 먼로(Marilyn Monroe)나 엘리자베스 테일러(Elizabeth Taylor)등과 같이 풍만하고 섹시한 여성의 에로틱한 미에 대하여 새로운 미를 제시해 주었다. 1950년대와 1960년대 초반 많은 영화를 통해 헵번의 마른 몸매와 짙은 눈썹의 깜찍하고 어린 소녀의 청순함은 요정과 같은 이상적인 이미지로 변모시켰다. 지방시와 오드리 헵번은 패션디자이너와 영화배우의 콤비를 이루었으며, 1950년대 전통의 한 원형을 만들었다. 지방시는 영화배우 오드리 헵번의 영화의상을 맡아 디자인한 것으로 유명했다. 지방시와 오드리 헵번과의 만남은 영화의상에서 최고의 성공작이 되었다. 영화 <사브리나>에서는 주연배우 오드리 헵번은 귀엽고 청순한 이미지였다. 영화 속에서 활기찬 말괄량이 스타일로 나타났고, 오늘날까지 그 유행이 이어지고 있다. 영화 속 오드리 헵번이 착용한 검은색 카프리 팬츠는 다리부분이 꼭 맞는 7부 바지로 ‘사브리나 팬츠’ 라고 불리게 되었고, 전 세계적으로 유행되었다. 사브리나 팬츠는 여성의 타운웨어에 팬츠를 도입시키는 계기를 마련하였으며, 이것은 여성 복식에 있어서 획기적인 변화를 불러왔다. 영화 <파리의 연인>은 파리의 오트 쿠튀르를 배경으로, 영화 속 오드리 헵번의 의상은 세계여성들의 관심사가 되었다. 패션 잡지 촬영 장면에서 보여지는 지방시의 다양한 의상은 헵번을 위해 만들어졌으며, 오트 쿠튀르적 유러피언 엘레강스 룩을 표현했다. 영화 <티파니에서 아침을>에서 지방시는 오드리 헵번의 사치스러운 의상과 소박한 의상을 교차하며 보여줌으로써 한편으로는 활발하지만 한편으로는 고독한 도시의 여인으로 주인공을 표현했다. 패션에서는 아메리칸 미니멀리즘이 명료하게 드러난다. 그 예로 라운드 네크라인의 발목까지 오는 검은색 쉬스 드레스(Sheeth Dress)가 대표적이며 우아하고 세련된 분위기를 나타냈다. 영화에서 오드리 헵번의 검정색 위주의 의상은 진주 목걸이, 오버 사이즈 선글라스, 롱 장갑 등의 액세서리와 조화를 이루며 토털 코디네이트 룩을 만들었다. 본 연구에서는 지방시 디자인에 의해서 오드리 헵번은 영화 <사브리나>에서 젊고 마른 체형의 참신한 이미지를, 영화 <파리의 연인>에서는 유러피언 엘레강스한 이미지를, 영화 <티파니에서 아침을>에서는 아메리칸 미니멀한 이미지를 나타내어, 각각 시대를 앞서가는 디자인으로 디자이너와 협업을 제시하였고, 시대의 패션 아이콘을 낳았다.
