E. H. Erikson의 심리사회적 발달이론과 기독교교육

Abstract

G.A. Coe said "Human being is the whole being, has the unified relation and could be understood in the third dimension." This statement means that human being is interpreted as a psychological being, a ethical being and a religious being. Man pursues the completion of his own life by discovering the... ltimate basis and principle on his being, that is, it is possible to pursue thoroughly his realization only in the relationship with God. Therefore, Christian education should be. a work for the whole being, which have to start with the right understanding of man as a educational being. This is why the study on the process of psychological development is important. Erik H. Erikson's psychosocial developmental theory treats the human's life growing up in the mutual relationship with his environment, and provides the cue for the Christian education. According this theory, man has not grown independently from his growth environment, but the culture and the custom in his society influence on his growth variously. Each stage of age requires a developmental task and has the success or the failure on the acquirement of a developmental task. In order to achieve successfully the sequent tasks, it's the most important thing whether the basic belief is formed solidly in infancy or not. Erikson's opinion demonstrates enough the value of Christian education. The primary purpose of Christian education is to make the children to recognize God's figure. Consequently, the children who confide in God's existence for reason that God is a trusty being absolutely, can establish the basic belief naturally. Erikson's psychosocial developmental theory also presents the limit and the capacity of human's developmental stage, and can be used as a basis for inducing the proper educational method according to ages when Christian education communicates the Bible. Therefore, this study is to survey the process of child- ren's development by means of the concept of Erikson's psycho-social developmental theory, and is to state the concrete suggestions for the. Christianity education's method and content.;G. A. Coe는 인간존재는 전인(Whole being)이고 통일된 관계를 가지고 있으며 세차원에서 이해될 수 있다고 한다. 첫째, 심리학적 인간이해이고, 둘째 윤리적 차원의 인간이해이며, 세째로 종교적인 존재로써의 인간이해이다. 인간의 자기 존재의 궁극적인 근거와 원리를 찾고 그 터전 위에서 삶의 완성을 추구한다. 즉 신과의 관계속에서 비로서 자기실현에의 철저한 추구가 가능해진다. 그러므로 기독교 교육은 이같은 전인적 인간화의 작업이 되어야하며 교육의 대상인 인간에 대한 바른 이해로 시작되어야 할 것이다. 인간의 심리적 발달의 과정을 탐구하는 일이 중요한 까닭도 여기에 있다. E.H.Erikson의 심리사회적 발달이론은 환경적 상호작용 속에서 성장하는 인간의 생애를 취급하였고, 이 이론은 기독교 교육을 위한 한 실마리를 제공해 준다. Erikson은 인간이 그가 태어나서 양육받고 있는 주변 환경과 독립되어 자라는 것이 아니라고 한다. 그 사회의 전통과 문화는 인간에게 다양한 영향을 미치며, 각 연령단계에 따라 어떤 발달의 과제를 요구한다. 인간은 그 발달과제의 획득에 성공하기도 하고 실패하기도 한다. 이때, 잇따르는 과제를 성취하기 위해서는 유아기 때에 기본적인 신뢰감을 굳건히 형성하였느냐하는 여부가 가장 중요한 관건이 된다. Erikson의 이같은 주장은 기독교 교육의 가치를 충분히 입증해 준다. 즉, 기독교 교육의 일차적 목적은 하나님의 형상을 아동의 마음에 심어주는 것인데, 하나님은 곧 절대적으로 신뢰할 만한 분이기 때문에, 하나님의 존재를 믿는 아동은 기본적 신뢰감을 자연스럽고 굳건히 확립할 수 있다. 또한 Erikson의 심리사회적 발달이론은 인간의 단계적인 발달의 능력과 한계를 제시해 준다. 따라서, 기독교 교육에서 하나님의 말씀을 전할 때, 연령별로 적절한 교육 방법을 유도해 낼 수 있는 기준으로 사용될 수 있다. 그러므로, 본 논문에서는 Erikson의 심리사회적 발달이론의 개념과 이론에 따른 아동발달의 과정을 고찰하고자 한다. 그리고, 고찰한 바를 바탕으로 하여 기독교 교육의 내용과 방법에 주는 구체적인 시사점을 논술하고자 한다.
