청소년의 소외감이 대인관계 유능성에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 청소년의 소외감이 다차원적 경험회피와 대인신뢰를 매개로 대인관계 유능성에 영향을 미치는지를 살펴봄으로써 원만한 대인관계 형성에 어려움을 겪는 청소년들에 대한 상담적 개입 방안을 논하는 데 목적을 둔다. 연구를 위하여 전국 남녀 고등학생 350명을 대상으로 소외감, 다차원적 경험회피, 대인신뢰, 대인관계 유능성을 측정하고자 자기보고식 설문조사를 실시하였고, 수집된 자료는 SPSS 29.0과 PROCESS macro version 4.2를 활용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 주요 변인 간 상관분석 결과, 소외감, 다차원적 경험회피, 대인신뢰, 대인관계 유능성은 모두 유의한 상관을 보였다. 소외감은 다차원적 경험회피와 유의한 정적 상관, 대인신뢰와 대인관계 유능성과는 유의한 부적 상관을 보였다. 다차원적 경험회피는 대인신뢰, 대인관계 유능성과 유의한 부적 상관이 있었다. 대인신뢰는 대인관계 유능성과 유의한 정적 상관이 있었다. 둘째, 소외감과 대인관계 유능성의 관계에서 다차원적 경험회피의 매개효과는 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 구체적으로 소외감이 다차원적 경험회피에 미치는 경로는 유의하였으나, 다차원적 경험회피가 대인관계 유능성에 미치는 경로는 유의하지 않았다. 셋째, 소외감과 대인관계 유능성의 관계에서 대인신뢰의 완전 매개효과가 유의하게 나타났다. 즉, 소외감은 대인관계 유능성에 직접적인 영향을 미치기보다는 대인신뢰를 통해 간접적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 소외감과 대인관계 유능성의 관계에서 다차원적 경험회피와 대인신뢰의 순차적 매개효과가 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 소외감은 다차원적 경험회피 자체만으로는 대인관계 유능성에 영향을 미치지 않고, 다차원적 경험회피와 대인신뢰의 순차적인 매개를 통해 대인관계 유능성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 즉, 소외감만으로 대인관계 유능성이 저하되는 것이 아니라 소외감이 높아지면 다차원적 경험회피 수준이 높아지고, 높아진 다차원적 경험회피가 대인신뢰 수준을 낮춰 대인관계 유능성을 낮추는 것이라 할 수 있다. 본 연구결과는 소외감으로 인해 원만한 대인관계 형성에 어려움을 겪는 청소년이 대인관계 유능성을 발달하는 데 역기능적인 대처방식과 신념을 수정하는 것이 효과적일 수 있음을 시사한다. 소외감은 인간이 사회 속에서 살아가면서 불가피하게 겪을 수 있는 심리적 경험으로 그 자체를 수정하는 것은 어려울 수 있으나, 수정할 수 있는 매개변인인 다차원적 경험회피와 대인신뢰에 주목하여 그 효과를 증명하였다는 점에서 상담적 개입의 단서를 제공한다. 그리고 소외감이 대인관계 유능성에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 다차원적 경험회피와 대인신뢰의 순차적 매개효과를 검증함으로써 청소년의 대인관계 유능성이 저하되는 경로를 자세히 확인하고, 연구대상의 범위를 좀 더 확장하였다는 데 의의가 있다.;This study aims to explore the counseling interventions for adolescents struggling to form smooth interpersonal relationships by examining whether the sense of alienation affects interpersonal competence through the mediation of multidimensional experiential avoidance and interpersonal trust. A self-report survey was conducted with 350 high school students nationwide to measure alienation, multidimensional experiential avoidance, interpersonal trust, and interpersonal competence. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 29.0 and PROCESS macro version 4.2. The main results of this study are as follows: First, correlation analysis among major variables showed that alienation, multidimensional experiential avoidance, interpersonal trust, and interpersonal competence all had significant correlations. Alienation showed a significant positive correlation with multidimensional experiential avoidance and a significant negative correlation with interpersonal trust and interpersonal competence. Multidimensional experiential avoidance had a significant negative correlation with interpersonal trust and interpersonal competence. Interpersonal trust had a significant positive correlation with interpersonal competence. Second, the mediating effect of multidimensional experiential avoidance in the relationship between alienation and interpersonal competence was not significant. Specifically, the path from alienation to multidimensional experiential avoidance was significant, but the path from multidimensional experiential avoidance to interpersonal competence was not significant. Third, the complete mediating effect of interpersonal trust in the relationship between alienation and interpersonal competence was significant. In other words, alienation indirectly affected interpersonal competence through interpersonal trust rather than having a direct impact. Fourth, the sequential mediating effect of multidimensional experiential avoidance and interpersonal trust in the relationship between alienation and interpersonal competence was significant. Alienation did not affect interpersonal competence directly through multidimensional experiential avoidance alone, but rather influenced it through the sequential mediation of multidimensional experiential avoidance and interpersonal trust. That is, increased alienation raised the level of multidimensional experiential avoidance, which in turn lowered the level of interpersonal trust, ultimately reducing interpersonal competence. The results of this study suggest that it may be effective for adolescents who struggle to form smooth interpersonal relationships due to alienation to modify dysfunctional coping styles and beliefs to develop interpersonal competence. While alienation is a psychological experience that is inevitably encountered in social life and may be difficult to modify, this study provides a clue for counseling interventions by demonstrating the effects of modifiable mediators such as multidimensional experiential avoidance and interpersonal trust. In addition, it is significant that by verifying the sequential mediating effects of multidimensional experience avoidance and interpersonal trust in the process of alienation on interpersonal competence, the pathways through which adolescents' interpersonal competence declines were identified in detail and the scope of the study was expanded.
