2022 개정 음악과 융합선택 '음악과 미디어' 과목에 대한 고등학교 음악교사 인식 및 요구 조사

Abstract

본 연구는 2022 개정 음악과 선택중심 교육과정에서 새롭게 개설된 융합선택 <음악과 미디어> 과목에 대한 교사의 인식과 현 시점에서의 수업 지도 준비 정도 및 요구를 파악하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 전국의 현직 고등학교 음악 교사 100명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 이 중 3명의 교사를 선정해 면담을 진행하였다. 설문 응답과 면담 내용을 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째, 음악 교사들은 ‘음악과 미디어’ 과목이 시대적 흐름에 적합하고, 학생들은 미디어에 능숙하기 때문에 과목을 통해 창의적인 음악 산출물이 나올 수 있다는 점에서 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었다. 반면에 새로운 과목에 관한 교사의 부담감이 과중된다는 점과 미디어 활용 수업을 하기에 학교의 환경이 적합하지 않다는 점에서 부정적인 인식이 있었다. 또 학년에 따른 수업 참여도와 관련해 실질적인 과목 운영에 대한 어려움이 있을 것이라 우려를 표하기도 하였는데, 면담을 통해 3학년에 편제될 경우 교과가 실질적으로 운영되지 않고 자습시간으로 진행되는 경우가 많다는 점을 확인하였다. 둘째, 과목 운영에 대한 인식을 조사한 결과, 과목 개설여부는 학교의 수업환경과 학생들의 선택 수요에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 아직 교과에 대한 논의가 없다(22%)는 응답이 적지 않았지만, 개설되지 않을 것(42%)이라 예상하는 응답이 가장 높게 나타났다. 예상되는 선택 수요는 높을 것이라는 응답이 높게 나타났고, 그 이유로 디지털 기기를 활용한다는 점에서 기대된다고 하였다. 반면에 낮은 수요가 예상되는 이유로는 음악 진로를 결정한 학생이 적기 때문이라고 응답하였다. 셋째, 학교의 소재지에 따라 과목 운영에 관한 인식과 학교 환경 적합도 차이를 분석한 결과 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 과목의 예상 개설 여부는 서울, 경기, 그 외 지역의 순서대로 점차 개설되지 않을 것이라는 부정적인 인식이 강하게 나타났다. 또한 학생의 예상 선택 수요 정도는 서울, 그 외, 경기 지역의 순서대로 점차 학생들의 예상 선택 수요가 낮게 나타났다. 디지털 미디어 음악 수업 환경 적합도를 묻는 문항에서는 서울, 그 외, 경기 지역의 순서대로 점차 미디어 활용 수업에 적합하지 않은 환경이라고 응답하였다. 지역별로 학교의 디지털 수업 환경 조성과 수업 환경을 위한 예산 등 운영 차이가 있다는 것을 의미한다고 해석할 수 있을 것이다. 넷째, 면담을 통해 교사들은 ‘음악과 미디어’ 과목에서 미디어 활용에 앞서 올바른 활용 태도를 학습하기 위한 ‘책임 있는 미디어 이용’ 교육이 필요하다고 인식하는 것을 확인하였다. 다섯째, 교사들은 [가치·태도] 준비도가 높았고, [과정·기능] 준비도가 미흡한 것으로 나타났다. 교육과정에 따른 준비 정도 설문 결과로 ‘올바른 윤리의식, 소통’ 등의 [가치·태도]는 높은 반면 ‘연계 및 융합, 문제해결력’ 등의 [과정·기능]은 비교적 낮게 나타났다. 이는 변숙자(2022)의 연구결과에서 교사들의 미디어 리터러시 교육이 주로 미디어의 윤리적 사용 영역을 중심으로 실행되고, 자료생산 영역에 대한 교육 경험이 낮은 것과 유사하다. 교사 면담을 통해 학생들이 교사보다 미디어를 잘 다루는 경우가 빈번하여 활용에 대한 교육보다 올바른 태도를 교육하는 것을 보다 더 중요하게 인식한다는 것을 확인하였다. 교사들은 [가치·태도] 영역 뿐만 아니라 디지털 미디어를 활용하여 연계·융합할 수 있는 등 디지털 활용 준비가 필요하며 관련된 교사교육이 지원되어야 할 것이다. 여섯째, 교육과정에 따른 준비 정도에 교사의 개인적인 연구 유무가 모든 항목에서 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 이러한 결과는 교사의 관심이 수업 준비 정도에 영향을 미친다는 것을 뜻한다. 따라서 교사의 부담감을 덜 수 있는 다양한 연수 및 자료를 제공함으로써 인식을 개선하고 미디어 활용에 관심을 갖을 수 있도록 해야 할 것이다. 설문과 면담을 통해 현직 고등학교 음악 교사들이 제시한 향후 ‘음악과 미디어’의 효과적인 과목 운영을 위한 요구는 다음과 같다. ‘음악과 미디어’ 교과 관련 교원연수 확대와 다양한 사례를 수록한 활용도 높은 교과서 개발, 교사들의 원활한 수업 설계를 위한 구체적인 수업 자료 제공과 체계적인 교수학습 및 평가 가이드라인 제공을 제시하였다. 또한 디지털 미디어 활용에 적합한 환경을 구축하기 위한 지원금이 필요하다고 언급했으며, 학교의 네트워크 인프라 구축, 무료 소프트웨어 프로그램 개발 및 제공, 디지털 기기의 보급이 필요하다고 제시하였다. 본 연구는 2022 개정 음악과 선택중심교육과정에서 새롭게 개설된 융합선택 ‘음악과 미디어’ 과목에 대한 교사의 인식과 준비 정도, 요구에 대해 조사 분석을 실시하였다. 과목이 시행되기 전, 교사의 인식과 요구를 조사하여 향후 효과적인 과목 운영을 위한 개선 방안을 제시하는 데 의의가 있다. 본 연구가 ‘음악과 미디어’ 과목이 효과적으로 운영하는 데 도움이 되는 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있기를 바라며, 더 나아가 음악교육에서 디지털 미디어를 활용한 수업의 활성화를 대비하고 준비하는 데 도움이 되길 기대한다.;The purpose of this study is to understand the teacher's perception of the newly opened convergence selection <Music and Media> subject in the 2022 revised music and selection-oriented curriculum and the degree and need of instructional preparation at the present time. To this end, a survey was conducted on 100 incumbent high school music teachers nationwide, and three of them were selected for interviews. As a result of analyzing the survey responses and interview contents, the following conclusions could be drawn. First, music teachers were positively aware that 'music and media' subjects were suitable for the trend of the times, and students were proficient in media, so creative music products could be produced through the subjects. On the other hand, there was a negative perception that teachers' burden on new subjects was heavy and that the school environment was not suitable for media-based classes. He also expressed concern that there would be difficulties in practical subject management in relation to class participation according to grade level, but through interviews, it was confirmed that if the subject was organized in the third grade, the subject was often not actually operated and was conducted during self-study time. Second, as a result of surveying the perception of subject management, the availability of subjects differed depending on the school's classroom environment and students' choice needs. There were not a few respondents (22%) who did not yet have a discussion on the subject, but the highest response was that they expected that it would not be opened (42%). The response that the expected demand for selection would be high was high, and for that reason, it was expected in that they used digital devices. On the other hand, they responded that the reason why low demand is expected is that few students have decided on a music career path. Third, as a result of analyzing the difference in perception of subject operation and suitability of the school environment according to the location of the school, it was found that there was a significant difference. There was a strong negative perception that the expected opening of subjects would not be gradually opened in the order of Seoul, Gyeonggi, and other regions. In addition, as for the degree of student's expected selection demand, the expected selection demand of students gradually decreased in the order of Seoul, other regions, and Gyeonggi Province. When asked about the suitability of the digital media music class environment, they gradually responded that it is an environment not suitable for media-using classes in the order of Seoul, other regions, and Gyeonggi Province. It can be interpreted that it means that there are differences in operation such as the creation of a school's digital class environment and the budget for the class environment by region. Fourth, through interviews, it was confirmed that teachers recognized the need for "responsible media use" education prior to media use in the "music and media" subject. Fifth, teachers were highly prepared for [values and attitudes] and were found to be insufficient for [process and function]. As a result of the survey on the degree of preparation according to the curriculum, [values and attitudes] such as 'right ethical consciousness and communication' were high, while [processes and functions] such as 'connection and convergence, problem solving ability' were relatively low. This is similar to the fact that in the research results of Byun Sook-ja (2022), teachers' media literacy education is mainly conducted around the ethical use of media, and educational experience in the data production area is low. Through teacher interviews, it was confirmed that students often handle media better than teachers, so they perceive teaching the right attitude more importantly than education for use. Teachers need to prepare for digital use, such as being able to connect and converge using digital media as well as the [value and attitude] area, and related teacher education should be supported. Sixth, there was a significant difference in all items in the presence or absence of a teacher's personal research in the degree of preparation according to the curriculum. These results imply that the teacher's interest affects the degree of class preparation. Therefore, it is necessary to improve awareness and pay attention to media use by providing various training and materials that can reduce the burden on teachers. Through surveys and interviews, the demands for effective subject operation of "Music and Media" presented by current high school music teachers are as follows. It was suggested to expand teacher training related to the "Music and Media" subject, develop highly utilized textbooks containing various cases, provide specific instructional materials for teachers to design classes smoothly, and provide systematic teaching, learning, and evaluation guidelines. It also mentioned that subsidies were needed to build an environment suitable for the use of digital media, and that the establishment of a school's network infrastructure, the development and provision of free software programs, and the spread of digital devices were necessary. This study conducted an investigation and analysis on the perception, degree of preparation, and demand of teachers for the newly opened convergence selection <Music and Media> subject in the 2022 revised music and selection-oriented curriculum. Before the subject is implemented, it is meaningful to investigate the perception and needs of teachers and suggest improvement measures for effective subject operation in the future. I hope that this study can be used as basic data to help the 'Music and Media' subject operate effectively, and furthermore, I hope that it will help prepare and prepare for the activation of classes using digital media in music education.
