국내외 학술지에 등재된 세계시민교육 연구 동향의 키워드 네트워크 분석

Abstract

This study analyzes research trends in global citizenship education articles published in both domestic and international academic journals from 2013 to 2022. In September 2012, global citizenship education was first announced as a global education goal through the 2012 Global Education First Initiative. From this point onwards, this research collected papers related to global citizenship education published in academic journals over the past decade. To overcome the limitations of traditional content analysis methods used in trend analysis, this study conducted keyword network analysis and the Vos viewer program. The findings indicate a growing interest in global citizenship education with an increased number of articles published in both domestic and international journals. Research in both spheres is closely associated with the Sustainable Development Goals and actively pursued in higher education institutions. Moreover, the study reveals differences in global citizenship education research trends between domestic and international contexts. In domestic research, the focus is predominantly on incorporating global citizenship education into the curriculum, courses, and teaching methods within the field of education. In contrast, international research trends explicit a broader connection of global citizenship education with various sectors, including politics, economics, and society. Furthermore, while domestic research focuses on school-age populations,international research tends to engage more with youth and includes discussions on social mobility issues such as refugees and migration. Domestic research is closely linked to similar educational approaches like education for international understanding, and multicultural education. The significance of this study lies in its comparative analysis of domestic and international global citizenship education research trends, marking the first comparative analysis of this kind. This study enabled to view the global citizenship education research from a broader perspective by comparing the domestic and international research trends. By analyzing the trends in academic journals, the study provides insights into the main themes and keywords discussed in the field of global citizenship education. Future research could extend to analyzing global citizenship education trends from the perspectives of policy implementation and policymakers, leading to a more comprehensive understanding and approach to global citizenship education trends.;본 연구는 2013년부터 2022년까지 국내외 학술지에 등재된 세계시민교육 관련 논문을 대상으로 국내외 전반적인 세계시민교육의 연구 동향을 분석한다. 2012년 9월에 출범한 2012 글로벌교육우선구상을 통해 세계시민교육이 처음으로 글로벌 교육 목표로 선포되었다. 2012 글로벌교육우선구상을 기점으로 2013년부터 지금까지 약 10년간 국내외 학술지에 게재된 세계시민교육 관련 논문을 기존에 연구 동향을 분석할 때 활용되던 내용 분석 기법의 한계점을 보완한 키워드 네트워크 분석과 Vos viewer 분석 프로그램을 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 국내외 학술지에서 공통적으로 세계시민교육과 관련된 논문의 수가 증가하는 추세를 보였다. 국내외 모두 지속가능발전목표 등과 긴밀하게 연계되어 연구되고 있고, 고등교육기관에서 관련 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 한편, 국내외 세계시민교육의 연구 동향의 차이점은 다음과 같다. 국내 세계시민교육의 연구 동향의 경우, 세계시민교육을 교과과정, 교과목, 교수 학습 등 교육학 분야 내 주제에 집중되어 있는 반면, 해외 세계시민교육의 연구 동향에서는 교육 영역뿐만 아니라 정치, 경제, 사회 등 세계시민교육을 다양한 분야와 연계한 논의가 이어지고 있었다. 또한, 국내 동향의 경우, 학령기 인구를 대상으로 한 세계시민교육 연구가 주를 이루지만, 해외의 경우 청년과 연계된 연구가 다수 이루어지고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 해외의 경우, 난민, 이주 등의 사회 이동에 대한 언급이 활발한 반면, 국내는 세계시민교육과 유사하게 활용되는 국제이해교육, 다문화 교육 등과 긴밀하게 연계되어 연구되고 있음을 발견하였다. 본 연구는 국내와 국외의 세계시민교육 연구 동향의 비교 분석을 처음으로 시도한 연구이며, 이를 통해 국내외 세계시민교육 연구 동향의 핵심 키워드, 핵심 주제와 클러스터를 파악하고 유의미한 공통점과 차이점 등을 비교함으로써 세계시민교육의 연구 동향을 보다 넓은 범위에서 파악할 수 있었다. 향후에는 정책 이행 현황 또는 정책 입안자의 관점에서 바라본 세계시민교육의 동향을 파악하는 후속 연구도 고려해 볼 수 있다.
