Program Annotation

Abstract

This paper is a program annotation of 4 pieces J. S. Bach's 『French Suite No. 5 in G Major, BWV816』, C. A. Debussy's 『Suite bergamasque, L. 75』, J. Haydn's 『Piano Sonata No. 59 in E♭ Major Hob. XVI: 49』, and R. Schumann's 『Fantasiestücke Op. 12』, which were performed in the author graduate recital for the Master’s degree. Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) was a German composer representing the Baroque era and composed all genres of music at the time except opera. Bach established a unique suite style based on German tradition and by adding French and Italian musical characteristics. 『French Suite No. 5 in G Major, BWV816』 was composed in 1722 and consists of a total of 6 pieces, each piece consisting of 6 to 8 movements. Although it is a smaller work than the English suites, it has a refined classical beauty and is also the most complete work among the baroque instrumental music suites. Claude Achille Debussy (1862-1918) is a representative French composer and a transitional composer from the 19th century to the 20th century. 『Suite bergamasque, L. 75』 began composing in 1890 and was published in 1905. It consists of a total of four pieces: Prélude, Meneut, Clair de Lune, and Passepied. And all four works were composed in a complex three-part format. He went beyond traditional harmonic techniques and used dissonant sounds, complex rhythms, and multiple modes and chapters. He used a variety of minor scales and composed music with an emphasis on timbre. Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809), a composer of the classical era, was a representative composer of classicism and composed the classical sonata style. The piano sonatas he composed consisted of a total of 52 songs, including 15 from the early period, 32 from the middle period, and 5 from the late period. 『Piano Sonata in E♭ Major, Hob. XVI: 49』 In the second movement, lyricism and tension are important in this song. The third movement is a rondo with two themes, and is composed in an interesting form that seems to be a combination of a rondo and a variation. Robert Alexander Schumann (1810-1856) was a representative German Romantic composer active in the first half of the 19th century. 『Fantasiestücke, Op.12』 consists of a total of eight songs, each song is title music with a title, and the subtitles implicitly express the atmosphere of each song.;본 논문은 본인의 석사과정 졸업 연주 프로그램인 J. Schumann의 Fantasiestücke Op. 12에 대한 작품해설이다. 요한 제바스티안 바흐(Johann Sebastian Bach, 1685-1750)는 바로크 시대를 대표하는 독일 작곡가이며 오페라를 제외한 당시 모든 장르의 음악을 작곡했다. 바하는 독일 전통에 기반을 두고 프랑스와 이탈리아 음악적 특징들을 가미시켜 독특한 모음곡 양식을 확립시켰다. 본 논문에서 다룬 <French Suite No. 5 in G Major, BWV816>은 1722년에 작곡되었으며 총 6개의 곡으로 이루어져 있고 각 곡은 6개에서 8개의 악장으로 구성되어 있다. 영국 모음곡에 비해 소규모 작품이지만 슌형 잡힌 고전적 아름다움을 지니고 있고 바로크 기악 모음곡 중 가장 완성된 형태의 작품이기도 하다. 클라우드 아실 드뷔시(Claude Achille Debussy, 1862-1918)은 프랑스를 대표하는 작곡가이며 19세기에서 20세기로 넘어가는 과도기적 작곡가이다. <Suite Bergamasque, L.75>는 1890년 작곡을 시작해 1905년에 출판되었고 이 곡은 총 4개의 곡으로 구성되며프렐류드(Prélude), 미뉴에트(Meneut), 달빛(Clair de Lune), 파스피에(Passepied) 이고 네 작품 모두 복합 3부 형식으로 작곡되었다. 그는 전통적인 화성 기법에서는 벗어나서 불협화음과 복잡한 리듬, 여러 선법과 장. 단 음계를 다양하게 구사하며, 음색적인 면을 중요시하여 작곡했다. 고전시대의 작곡가 프란츠 요제프 하이든(Franz Joseph Haydn, 1732-1809)은 고전주의 시대를 대표하는 작곡가이며 고전주의 소나타 양식을 작곡했다. 그가 작곡한 피아노 소나타는 초기의 15곡, 중기의 32곡, 후기의 5곡 등 총 52곡으로 구성되었다. 하이든의 피아노 소나타 곡 중 후기 작품에 속하는 Piano Sonata in E♭ Major, Hob.XVI:49는 그가 에스테르하지 가에서 마지막으로 지내던 시기에 쓴 작품이며, 이 작품을 겐칭거 부인에게 헌정했다. 1악장은 200마디 규모의 큰 작품이고, 단일 주제가 돋보인다. 2악장은 서정성과 긴장감이 이 곡에서 중요하다. 3악장은 2개의 주제로 된 론도형식이고 론도와 변주곡이 합쳐진 것 같은 흥미로운 형식으로 구성되었다. 로베르트 알렉산더 슈만(Robert Alexander Schumann, 1810-1856)은 독일의 대표적인 낭만주의 작곡가로 19세기 전반에 활동한 작곡가이다. Fantasiestücke Op.12는 총 여덟개의 곡으로 이루어져 있고, 각 곡의 제목이 붙어있는 표제음악이고 부제들은 각 곡마다의 분위기를 함축적으로 잘 나타내고 있다.
