상호문화교육을 적용한 중학교 자유학기제 합창 프로그램 개발 연구

Abstract

본 연구에서는 상호문화교육을 적용하여 11차시의 중학교 자유학기제 합창 프로그램을 개발하고, 실제 학교 현장에서 적용될 수 있는지 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 프로그램 개발을 위하여 먼저 문헌 고찰을 통해 상호문화주의의 이론을 탐색하였고, 음악 교과를 통해 이루어지는 상호문화교육에 대해 살펴보았다. 이후 상호문화교육 6단계를 적용하여 각 단계에 맞는 합창 수업지도안을 개발하고, 2인의 교수에게 지도안의 내용 타당도를 검증받았으며, 이를 토대로 지도안을 수정 및 보완하였다. 그리고 합창 수업지도안의 현장 적합성 검토를 위하여 실제 현장 교사 4인에게 현장 적합도를 검증받았다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본 연구는 상호문화교육에 기반을 둔 합창 프로그램 개발로 중국, 일본, 필리핀의 문화를 탐색하고 해당 국가의 민요를 합창으로 불러봄으로써 학습자가 가지고 있는 기존의 차별과 편견의 인식에서 벗어나 문화적인 맥락 속에서 서로를 이해하고 존중할 수 있도록 하였다. 각 차시는 먼저 각국의 문화를 다루며 이해하도록 하고, 이어서 연계된 음악적 활동을 구성하여 수업의 연계성과 통일성을 가지도록 하였다. 문화를 다루면서 언어, 생활 습관, 문학, 역사 등을 탐색하며 학습자가 문화 속에서 다양한 배경을 접할 수 있도록 하였으며, 이후 차시에서 음악을 다룰 때 창법, 음계, 리듬 등을 다루어 음악적 특징이 해당 국가의 문화와 어떠한 연관이 있는지 탐색할 수 있도록 하였다. 둘째, 본 연구에서 개발된 지도안의 현장 적합성 검증을 현장 교사 4인에게 받은 결과, 학생들의 흥미를 유발할 수 있는 활동이 다양하게 제시되었으며, 학생들의 상호문화이해 향상과 음악성 및 창의성을 계발하는 데 도움을 줄 수 있다는 평가를 받았다. 그러나 실제 현장에서 적용할 때, 학습자의 수준 및 집중도를 고려하여 수업 시간과 학습량을 조절하여 학생과 교사의 부담을 덜어줄 수 있는 대안이 필요하다는 의견이 제시되었다. 본 연구를 통해 개발된 합창 프로그램이 실제 학교 현장에서 일반학생과 이주 배경 학생의 상호문화교육에 있어 많은 도움이 되기를 기대한다. 또한, 앞으로 상호문화교육을 기반으로 한 다양한 음악프로그램이 개발되어, 주류 학생 및 이주 배경 학생이 문화적 이해를 통해 상호존중하고, 보다 폭넓은 음악 세계를 영위할 수 있기를 기대한다.;The purpose of the study was to develop an intercultural education chorus program for the free-semester system for middle school, which comprised of eleven block time sessions; and to verify the field compatibility. For the development of the program, firstly, through literature, theories of interculturalism and intercultural education through music classes were discussed. Afterwards, six stages of intercultural education were applied to develop a eleven-session chorus lesson program; and the content validity of the program was reviewed by two professors. Program plans were revised and supplemented based on their reviews. To verify its the applicability of the program to real classroom settings, four in-service music teachers reviewed the adequacy of the chorus lesson plans. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, developed chorus program based on intercultural education explored the cultures of China, Japan, and Philippines by singing folk songs of those countries as a chorus, in which learners were able to overcome pre-existing racism or biased ideas in a cultural context. In order to have unity of lesson plans, each block time session begins with activities for cultural understanding of each country, then musical activities related to the cultures were continued. With cultural understanding activites, the learners were able to explore language, lifestyle, literature, and history to access various cultural backgrounds; and through musical activities, the students learned about how the different features accredited to vocal style, scale, and rhythm, were related to each country’s culture. Second, in-service music teachers who reviewed field adequacy of the program evaluated that the lesson plans include various learning activities which can induce learners interests and motivation; and the lesson plans were helpful in developing musicality and creativity while improving the intercultural understanding of students. However, for application to a real classroom setting, it was suggested that the time and amount of activities in each session should be adjusted considering learners’ level of concentration and cabability as well as teachers’ burden. The chorus program developed through this study can be helpful for intercultural education of Korean(mainstream) students as well as immigrant students in a real school setting. Additionally, it is expected that more music programs based on intercultural education will be developed in the future, , which enables mainstream and immigrant students to improve cultural understanding, mutual respect, and communication skills; and to advance into a broader world of music.
