미술치료전공 석사과정생의 여성 암 환자를 위한 집단미술치료 현장실습 체험연구

Abstract

본 연구는 여성 암 환자를 위한 집단미술치료 현장에서 미술치료전공 석사과정생이 무엇을 경험하고 느꼈는지, 그들의 생생한 이야기를 통해 체험의 본질적인 의미를 탐구하고자 하였다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 미술치료전공 석사과정생이 경험한 여성 암 환자를 위한 집단미술치료 현장실습 체험의 의미와 본질이 무엇인지 이해하고자 하는 것이며, 이를 토대로 앞으로 여성 암 환자 미술치료 현장실습을 가게 될 미술치료전공 석사과정생들에게 필요한 사전지식을 제공하고, 그들이 전문적인 치료사로 성장하는 데 도움을 주고자 한다. 이에 본 연구의 연구 문제는 “미술치료전공 석사과정생의 여성 암 환자를 대상으로 한 미술치료 현장실습 체험은 어떠하며, 그 의미와 본질은 무엇인가?”이며. 질적 연구 방법 중의 하나인 Max van Manen의 해석학적 현상학 연구방법을 이용하여 연구를 진행하였다. 본 연구는 여성 암 환자를 위한 집단미술치료 현장실습 경험이 있는 미술치료전공 석사과정생 6명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 진행하였으며, 이는 2020년 9월부터 2020년 11월까지 이루어졌다. 코로나19과 같은 전염 가능한 질병이 유행함에 따라 안전하게 화상회의를 통해 면담을 진행하였다. 수집된 자료들을 분석한 결과 6개의 본질적 주제와 16개의 하위주제를 도출하였으며, 그 6개의 본질적 주제는 다음과 같다. <여성 암 환자를 통해 나의 가족을 생각하게 됨>, <의료미술치료 환경에서의 예측하기 힘든 변수와 마주함>, <조심스러운 마음에 여성 암 환자들에게 쉽게 다가가지 못함>, <슈퍼비전을 통해 재충전함>, <여성 암 환자 집단에서만 가능한 미술치료의 치유적 힘을 발견함>, <여성 암 환자들과의 집단미술치료를 통해 도리어 마음의 선물을 받음>. 이와 같은 결과와 글쓰기, 연구자가 수집한 다양한 해석학적 현상학 자료들을 통합하여 내린 미술치료전공 석사과정생의 여성 암 환자를 위한 현장실습 체험연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미술치료전공 석사과정생은 의료미술치료 안에서 예측하기 힘든 다양한 변수와 마주하며 그로 인해 안타까운 마음과 두려움을 경험한다. 둘째, 미술치료전공 석사과정생은 여성 암 환자들에게 쉽게 다가가지 못하고 어려움을 느끼지만 슈퍼비전을 통해 고민을 해소하고 막막했던 고민거리를 해소하며 다시 나아갈 힘을 얻게 된다. 셋째, 미술치료전공 석사과정생은 여성 암 환자들을 통하여 미술치료의 치유적인 힘을 발견하고, 도리어 그들과 함께 행복과 치유를 얻는다. 본 연구는 미술치료전공 석사과정생의 여성 암 환자를 위한 집단미술치료 현장실습의 체험에 대해 심도 있게 탐구하고 그에 대한 본질과 의미를 밝혔다는 점에서 학문적인 의의가 있다. 또한 현장에서 여성 암 환자를 만나게 될 미술치료 전공 석사과정생에게 그들의 입장에서 이해할 수 있는 실질적인 정보를 제공하여 현장실습에 대한 이해를 높이고, 환자들에게는 더 질 높은 미술치료를 제공하는 데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 후속 연구를 위한 제언은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 실습 대상자 집단을 미혼 여성 암 환자와 기혼 여성 암 환자를 세분화하여 진행된 석사과정생의 집단미술치료 현장실습에 대한 후속 연구를 제언한다. 둘째, 집단미술치료가 아닌 여성 암 환자 개인을 깊이 이해하고 대면할 수 있는 여성 암 환자를 위한 개인미술치료를 경험한 석사과정생의 현장실습에 대해 탐구하는 후속 연구를 제언한다. ;This study aims to explore the essential meaning of the hands-on experience of the Art Therapy Master’s students based on their experience and reflection on the site of group art therapy for female cancer patients through their vivid stories. To this end, the objectives of this study are to understand what the significance and essence of the Art Therapy Master’s students experience from the on-site training of group art therapy for female cancer patients is, to provide necessary prior knowledge to Art Therapy Master’s students who will have on-site training of group art therapy for female cancer patients based on this, and to help them grow into professional therapists. Therefore, the research questions of this paper are “how the Art Therapy Master’s students’ on-site training experience of group art therapy for female cancer patients is, and what is the significance and essence of it?” The study was conducted using one of the qualitative research methods which is the analytical phenomenology research method of Max van Manen. This study conducted in-depth interviews with six Art Therapy Master’s students with on-site training experience in group art therapy for female cancer patients, which were done from September 2020 to November 2020. As an infectious disease such as COVID-19 became prevalent, interviews were conducted safely through video conferences. As a result of analyzing the collected data, 6 essential topics and 16 sub-topics were derived. The 6 essential topics are as follows. <Reflection of one’s family through the female cancer patients>, <facing unpredictable variables of the medical art therapy environment>, <difficulty reaching out to female cancer patients due to cautiousness>, <recharge through supervision>, <discovering the therapeutic power of art therapy only possible in a group of female cancer patients>, and <rather receiving a heart-warming present through group art therapy for female cancer patients>. The conclusion of the study on the on-site training experience of Art Therapy Master’s students in group art therapy for female cancer patients drawn by the integration of such results, writing and the various data of analytical phenomenology is as follows. First, Art Therapy Master’s students face unpredictable variables within the medical art therapy environment, thereby experiencing regret and fear. Second, Art Therapy Master’s students experience difficulty in reaching out to female cancer patients. Nevertheless, they resolve their problems through supervision and earn the strength to go forward. Third, Art Therapy Master’s students discover the therapeutic power of art therapy through female cancer patients and rather gain happiness and therapy together with them. This study has academic significance in that it explored in-depth the Art Therapy Master’s students’ on-site training experience of group art therapy for female cancer patients. In addition, it is expected that it will heighten the understanding of on-site training by providing the Art Therapy Master’s students who will encounter female cancer patients on-site with practical information that is understandable from their points of view, and help provide art therapy of higher quality to patients. Finally, suggestions for further studies are as follows. First, a subsequent study on the Master’s students’ on-site training of group art therapy conducted with the practical training subjects subdivided into groups of single and married female cancer patients is recommended. Second, a subsequent study on the exploration of the on-site training of Master’s students with the experience not of group art therapy but individual art therapy for female cancer patients and thereby can deeply understand and face female cancer patients is recommended.
