진로탐색을 위한 현대소설 교육 방안 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 현대소설 교육에서의 청소년 진로탐색 교육의 양상을 살펴보고, 자기성찰·계발 역량을 중심으로 진로탐색을 위한 현대소설 교육 방안을 모색하는 데에 있다. 교육의 목적이 자아실현을 통한 올바른 인간상 형성으로, 학습자가 주체적으로 삶을 살아갈 수 있도록 하는 것에 있다고 볼 때에 모든 교과교육은 진로교육과 밀접히 연관되어있다. 청소년의 시기에 자아정체성을 가지고 자신을 돌아보며 자신의 삶을 주도적으로 이끌어나가기 위해 진로교육은 범교과적으로 이루어져야 한다. 교과 통합 활동으로 이루어지는 진로교육은 합리적인 진로 결정에 효과적이며, 문학은 치유와 자아성장의 매개체로서 진로교육의 목표와도 밀접하게 연결되어 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 국어교육에서 진로탐색 교육이 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지 그 양상을 살펴보고, 현대소설을 통한 진로탐색교육의 필요성을 밝혀 진로탐색을 위한 현대소설 교육의 목표와 방안을 제시하는 데에 목적이 있다. 본 연구를 진행하면서 먼저 청소년 진로교육과 자기성찰·개발 역량의 개념에 대하여 살펴보았다. 진로발달이론에 근거하여 발전해온 진로교육의 목표는 평생에 걸친 삶의 방향과 가치관을 정립하고, 자신의 진로를 지속적으로 발전시켜 행복한 삶을 살아갈 수 있도록 하는 것에 있다. 이를 바탕으로 현재 학교 현장에서는 진로교육이 매우 강조되며 자유학기제 등에서 다양한 형태로 실시되고 있다. 진로교육의 주체는 ‘나’이며, 자신에 대한 올바른 인식으로부터 시작하기에 자신을 이해하고, 이를 토대로 진로탐색을 뻗어 나가는 과정에서 ‘자기성찰·계발 역량’은 매우 유의미하다는 점을 확인하였다. 한편, 국어과에서는 다양한 진로독서 프로그램을 통하여 진로탐색에 이르도록 하는 교육에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있었다. 현대소설에서는 성장소설 속 인물과의 동일시를 통한 청소년 자아정체성 확립에 관한 연구가 있었으나, 많은 연구가 독서와 작문 분야에 편중되어있었다. 이어 문학교육에서의 진로교육의 현황에 대해 살펴보고, 현대소설 교육에서의 청소년 진로탐색 교육의 의의와 한계를 밝히고자 2015 개정 교육과정의 중학교 1, 2학년 국어교과서를 분석하였다. 그 결과 많은 부분은 아니었지만, 다양한 주제로 진로탐색과 연계된 활동이 진행되고 있었다. 진로탐색은 자기이해로부터 시작되기에 현대소설 교육에서의 ‘자기성찰·계발 역량’의 구현 양상을 교과서 분석을 통해 살펴보았다. 학습활동은 주로 작품의 이해를 통하여 타자를 이해하고 자아성찰의 경험을 확장하는 방향으로 이루어진 것을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 현대소설은 작품을 통해 자신의 삶을 비추어보고 성찰하기에 매우 적합한 제재이며, ‘자기성찰·계발 역량’을 중심으로 하여 진로를 탐색하기에 현대소설 교육이 매우 효과적이라는 것을 재확인하였다. 분석을 통해 밝힌 현대소설 교육에서의 청소년 진로탐색 교육의 의의와 한계를 토대로 청소년 진로탐색을 위한 현대소설 교육 방안을 모색하였다. 먼저 진로탐색을 위한 현대소설 교육의 목표를 제시하였다. 목표는 현대소설 수용을 통한 자기이해를 바탕으로 학습자 개개인의 주체적인 진로설계를 할 수 있도록 목표를 설정하였다. 교육 대상으로는 중학교 2학년 학습자로 설정하였고, 진로탐색을 위한 현대소설 교육에 적합한 제재 선정 기준을 마련하였으며, 이어 구체적인 교육 방안을 모색하였다. 본 연구는 청소년 진로탐색의 중요성을 바탕으로 국어과의 진로교육 양상을 고찰함을 통해 현대소설 교육을 통한 진로교육의 필요성을 밝히고, ‘자기성찰·계발 역량’을 중심으로 하여 진로탐색을 위한 현대소설 교육의 방안을 제시하였다는 데에 의의가 있다. 현대소설과 진로탐색을 결합한 교육은 학습자가 자신에 대한 긍정적인 인식을 바탕으로 주체적으로 삶을 살아가도록 하는데 큰 역할을 할 것이다. 이에 현대소설 교육의 장점을 살려 진로탐색을 위한 교육방안에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어져야 한다. 이 논문을 기점으로 향후 이루어질 진로탐색을 위한 현대소설 교육에 대한 활발한 논의가 진행되기를 기대한다.;The purpose of this study is to examine the aspects of youth career exploration education in modern novel education, and to explore a plan for modern novel education in connection with career exploration focusing on self-development and reflection capabilities. Given that the goal of education is to help individuals to autonomously live their lives through the formation of humanity and self-realization, all subjects of education are closely related to career education. In adolescence, individuals need comprehensive career education across subjects in order to establish their self-identity, to look back on themselves and to lead their lives. Career education based on integrated curriculum activities is effective in making rational career decisions, and literature, the medium of healing and self-reflection, is closely linked to the objectives of career education. Therefore, this study examined aspects of career exploration education in Korean language education and identified the necessity of career exploration education using modern novels, thereby suggesting the objectives and measures of modern novel education in connection with career exploration. The study first reviewed the concepts of youth career education and self-reflection/ development capabilities. The objectives of education developed based on the theory of career development include helping each individual to establish a lifelong orientations and values, continuously developing his or her career, and guiding him or her to live a happy life. Therefore, career education has been emphasized in the school field and conducted in various forms such as the free semester system. Because the main subject of career education is 'I', which starts with the right perception of self, it was confirmed that 'self-reflection and development competency' is highly meaningful in understanding the self and expanding the career exploration based on it. On the other hand, the Korean language education has actively explored how to have students perform career explorations through various career reading programs. With respect to modern novels, there have been studies on establishing adolescent self-identity by identifying oneself with figures in growth novels. However, most of the studies have only focused on the areas of reading and writing. In order to examine the current status of career education in literary education and to clarify the significance and limitations of youth career exploration education in modern novel education, this study analyzed the middle school Korean language textbooks for the first and second graders of the 2015-revised curriculum. As a result, career exploration linking activities using various, even though not many, themes were found. Since career exploration begins with self-understanding, aspects of the implementation of ‘self-reflection and development capabilities’ in modern novel education were examined based on textbook analysis. The learning activities were mainly to understand the other and to expand the experiences of self-reflection through the understanding of the novels. Therefore, it was reaffirmed that modern novels are very suitable materials for students to reflect on their lives through the novels, and that modern novel education is very effective in exploring careers centered on self-reflection and development capabilities. Based on the significance and limitations of youth career exploration education in modern novel education examined in the study, a plan on modern novel education related to youth career exploration was sought. First, the objectives of modern novel education in connection with career exploration were presented. The objectives were set to enable individual learners to design their own career based on self-understanding through the acceptance of modern novels. Second-year middle school learners were the educational target, and criteria for selecting materials suitable for the modern novel education in connection with career exploration were prepared. By identifying the aspects of career education through Korean language education based on the importance of career exploration of youth, this study has significance to suggest a plan for modern novel education in connection to career exploration focused on ‘self-reflection and development capabilities’. Education that combines modern novels with career exploration would play a key role in helping learners to live autonomous lives in a basis of positive perceptions of themselves. Therefore, research should be actively conducted on educational plans linked with career exploration, taking advantage of modern novel education. It is hoped that this study would contribute to active discussions about modern novel education in connection with career exploration.
