국악오케스트라 활동이 중학생의 인성에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 국악오케스트라 활동이 중학생의 인성에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구는 국악오케스트라 활동을 진행하는 서울특별시 강서구 소재 A 중학교, 인천광역시 부평구 소재 B 중학교, 경기도 용인시 처인구 소재 C 중학교, 경기도 김포시 통진읍 소재 D 중학교 학생 125명을 대상으로 하여 사전·사후 검사를 실시하였고, 그 결과를 비교·분석하였다. 수집한 자료는 연구 문제에 따라 빈도분석, 대응표본 t 검정, 일원분산분석을 실시하였고, 분석을 위해 사용한 프로그램은 SPSS(Ver. 25.0)이다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국악오케스트라의 활동 기간, 참여 동기에 따라 나타나는 인성 수준은 차이가 있었다. 활동 기간에 따른 인성 수준의 변화는 1년~2년간 활동한 학생에게 가장 크게 나타났으며, 참여 동기에 따른 인성 수준의 차이는 부모님 혹은 선생님의 권유로 참여한 학생들에게 가장 크게 나타났다. 둘째, 국악오케스트라 활동은 학생들의 인성(존중, 책임, 공정성, 시민성, 심미성)에 전반적으로 영향을 미쳤다. 국악오케스트라 활동은‘존중’의 능력에 영향을 미쳤다. 이는 국악오케스트라 활동을 통해 학생들이 다른 사람의 음악적 의견을 존중하고, 조화롭게 연주하는 태도 및 다른 사람의 연주를 존중하며 감상하는 존중의 능력에 영향을 미쳤음을 의미한다. 국악오케스트라 활동은‘책임’의 능력에 영향을 미쳤다. 국악오케스트라 활동은 혼자가 아닌 단원 모두가 함께 협력하여 음악을 만들어가는 활동으로, 오케스트라 활동 안에서 맡은 각자의 역할을 책임감 있게 해내는 것이 중요하다. 학생들은 국악오케스트라 활동을 통해 자신이 맡은 음악적 역할의 중요성을 알고, 책임감 있게 행동하고자 하는 모습을 보였다. 이는 국악오케스트라 활동이 각자 맡은 음악적 역할에 사명감을 가지고 행동하는 책임의 능력에 영향을 미쳤음을 의미한다. 국악오케스트라 활동은‘공정성’의 능력에 영향을 미쳤다. 학생들은 국악오케스트라 활동 시 정한 규칙의 필요성과 중요성을 인지하고, 정한 규칙은 단원 모두가 공정하게 지켜야 하며, 음악 활동에서의 공정한 역할 분담에 대해서도 동의하는 모습을 보였다. 이는 학생들이 음악 활동에서 함께 약속한 규칙과 질서에 대해 준법정신을 가지고 이행하고자 하는 공정성의 능력에 영향을 미쳤음을 의미한다. 국악오케스트라 활동은‘시민성’의 능력에 영향을 미치지 않았다. 이는 국악오케스트라 활동이 문화적 차이를 이해하며 음악을 감상하거나, 음악 행사의 필요성 인식과 관련하여 영향을 미치지 않았음을 의미한다. 따라서 국악오케스트라 활동이 시민성 능력과 관련하여 유의미한 활동이 될 수 있는 운영 방안에 대한 연구가 요구된다. 국악오케스트라 활동은‘심미성’의 능력에 영향을 미쳤다. 국악오케스트라 활동을 통해 학생들은 다양한 소리의 조화와 균형으로 만들어지는 음악의 아름다움을 체험할 수 있었고, 음악이 사람의 정서와 마음을 전달할 수 있는 매개체가 될 수 있다는 생각에 동의하는 모습을 보였다. 이는 국악오케스트라 활동을 통해 음악의 아름다움과 가치를 알고, 음악을 생활 속에서 적극적으로 활용하는 심미성의 능력에 영향을 미쳤음을 의미한다. 위의 연구 결과를 통해 국악오케스트라 활동에 참여한 학생들의 인성은 대체적으로 향상되었다는 것을 확인할 수 있었고, 이는 국악오케스트라 활동이 인성교육으로서 교육적 가치와 의의가 있음을 보여준다. 본 연구자는 위 연구를 통해 국악오케스트라 활동을 재인식하는 계기가 되어 국악오케스트라 활동이 보다 활성화되기를 기대한다.;The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of performing in a Korean traditional music orchestra on middle school students’ character. A pretest and a posttest were conducted with 125 students of a middle school A located in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, middle school B located in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, middle school C located in Cheoin-gu, Youngin-si, Gyeonggi-do and middle school D located in Tongjin-eup, Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do. The collected data were entered into SPSS(Ver. 25.0) and analyzed through frequency analysis, matched pairs t-test, and one-way ANOVA, which led to the following six results. Firstly, the participating students showed differences in improvement of character according to participating period and motive. Score improvements differ according to how long the student has been playing in an orchestra. The students with most improved character were those who have been in an orchestra for a year to two years. The motive also had an impact on the improvement of character. The students who joined the orchestra on the suggestion of their parents or teacher, the biggest among the other groups. Secondly, the students who performed in an Korean traditional music orchestra made improvements in most of their character traits(Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Citizenship, Aesthetics). The participants’ ability to Respect others increased. By participating in a Korean traditional music orchestra, students learned how to respect others’ musical opinions, perform in harmony, and listen to other students play with respect. The orchestra activities promoted Responsibility of the students given that the scores increased. Since playing in an orchestra is a cooperative activity, it is crucial to perform one’s role as part of the whole team. Students fully understood the importance of their role and showed responsibility in playing the instrument. Ability to the Fairness others increased, indicating that performing in an orchestra helped students to have a higher level of fairness. The participants understood the necessity and importance of the rules they made regarding orchestra activities and made sure that those rules applied to everyone equally. They also certainly agreed that musical roles should be divided in a fair way among all members. Though Citizenship scores were higher in the posttest than the pretest, students showed no significant improvement in Citizenship. This means a Korean traditional music orchestra was no significant differences understanding of cultural differences when listening to music, and recognition the need for musical events. Therefore, it is necessary to improve research of a Korean traditional music orchestra in connection with Citizenship. Orchestra activities improved Esthetics of students between the pretest and the posttest. The participating students experienced the beauty of harmonized and balanced music and agreed that music can be a vehicle of feelings and emotions. The findings suggest that the students who performed in an orchestra made improvements in most of their character traits. This indicates that being part of a Korean traditional music orchestra helped students to develop character and be a healthy member of society. It is hoped that this study will raise awareness of the need for Korean traditional music orchestras, leading to more orchestra activities for middle school students.
